  • Merci Beacoup~~~~~~Régine est belle

  • haha she's so cute :)

  • This is awesome! Regine is the best!

  • Regine is a babe. She is beautiful :P

  • Arcade Fire should do an entirely French album!

  • @crisatunity I know! Then I'll be able to convince my french teacher to let me do projects on them!

  • Merci Arcade Fire. Superbe reprise !

  • it would be pretty sad if our world one day comes to expect every artist (or any/every woman for that fact) to be the picture perfect creations of photoshop and 300 calorie diets.

  • that's... ok we'll do a song... I repear... listen! and that's an old song that you certainly know and they didnt know it and they decided to learn it and now I'm singing it. haha*(regine french canadian translation)

  • beautiful!

  • Gainsbarre !

  • <3 ...

  • j'adoooooore!

  • '' alors c'est moi qui la chante ha ha ! '' , regine is so adorable, je l'adore.

  • French is a beautiful language, i was lucky to learn it well when I was growing up, and it still has very deep roots in its culture, kind of like if we went around with a bit of Shakespeare in our back pocket.

Regine is so sexy, back to a place and a time when sexy meant more than showing your boobs, but knowing how to be seductive and that magical...je ne sais quoi...

  • I love the French language. I think it is a fascinating language and I like to hear other people speak it. My neighbors have a French family and I happened to hear them use it sometimes. (btw I do take French class and I get fairly well in it)

  • She said

It's an old song that surely you know, they didn't know her and they decided to learn to play it when I sing it now! ah ha

  • Can anyone translate what Regine says at the beginning? Thanks

  • ca sonne la marde...Les marmottes aplaties l'ont mieux fait que ca come on là!! c'est laid!

  • anyone who says that the lead singer is hot is either a woman or a gay.

  • @r3dfl4ck4l1 Dykes? Cause she sure looks like one.

  • Regine is the hottest woman in music today by miles. She is impossibly adorable

  • There is nothing ugly about Regine. I am a straight woman, and I think she's sexy as hell. Win is sexier, but still...

  • i wish they'd do a studio version

  • @ayumix2000 There's a studio version, I think it's a B-side

  • @ayumix2000 it's here - /watch?v=gBK7BxBloFk

  • Win and Regine are so cute. (:

  • Sexy, most talented, speaks French = sexy hubby. Love this version and her performance, just outstanding! <3

  • muy buena version

    good version

  • I love it!!!! France Gall +Arcade Fire= One hell of a cover!!!!!

  • It seems like she had just too much performance coke as she was setting up..but then she goes timid. Still great, gotta love her! And the band is wild!!

  • Original is way better.

  • I love it when Regine speaks French <3

  • I soooo hope they play this at leeds!

  • didnt like this........

  • elle est QUEBECOISE

  • OOO! Arcade Fire cover to France Gall, beautiful!

  • Peut-être parceque tout simplement elle n'est pas française!

  • Pourquoi qu'elle parle de façon hachurée?

  • J'ai compris; elle est Haitienne

  • Belle & Sebastian did the same. A Gainsbourg lyrics.

  • I'm getting a second copy of this for my record player. It's so good. =D

  • This song original version is sang by France gall.

  • like "voir la vie en rose bonbon" is a mix of to see the world through rose-colored glasses and vivid pink, "briser en mille eclats de voix" mixes 'briser en eclats' which means to smash to pieces and 'exlats de voix' or to shout, "se laisser seduire, pour un oui, pour un nom", nom instead of non (name instead of no). the poupee de cire poupee de son is a play on words referring to a doll that sings when you pull on her string, which is why france gall never sang it again. et voila.

  • prepare to be shamed. according to the diggiloo thrush, serge gainsbourg wrote it about how "the songs young people turn to for help in their first attempts at discovering what life and love are about, are sung by people too young and inexperienced to be of much help and condemned by their celebrity to find out." it is filled with many double entendres,

  • Serge Gainsbourg was one of the original epic trolls, and he pwned many many many, including France Gall, providing lulz to Gauloise-smoking perverts and degenerates everywhere.

  • Great cover! I really like this song, and arcade fire, just great combination :D

  • es la polla esta version!

  • Great cover|

  • I wish I was as cool as Regine...

  • Don´t be fool, be yourself

  • they are YOUR dreams.

    make them into YOUR realities.

  • what is Regine's intro translated into english? something about her listening to the song and...

  • She said "this is an old song. The rest of the group did not know it. I introduced it to them. An now I am signing it. Ahhh!"

  • Thanks!

  • trop bien, j avais deja entendu cette reprise mais je savais pas que c etait eux

    vraiment génial

  • Its great song and great cover.

  • I love it! France Gall's spirit continues...:)

  • this song was originally by france gall if anyone was wondering.

  • It was actually written by Serge Gainsbourg (of Je t'aime..moi non plus fame) for the Eurovision song contest. : ) But he wrote it especially for her.

  • Ils ont très bien interprété ce morceau du vieux chameau Serge!!!!!

  • Regine?? Ugly?? :O

  • indie chicks are supposed to be ugly, it's part of the indie aesthetic.

  • well, I dunno if I'd go that far.

But I can understand that indie girls break away from the hyper-skinny, blindingly-blonde, vacuously materialistic, attention-whore image that mainstream music seems to thrive on.

  • You must be a bit lost, this is Arcade Fire not Pussycat Dolls. You'd be much better entertained by them I presume, dont waste your time with thinking. Good luck in life, you will need it.

  • no, unconventional beauty in my opinion

  • @ismalinho

Yeah, I don't understand it either. I think she's very beautiful! She has nice skin texture, cute round face, wild curly hair, just very talented and nice personality too (it seems). Just because she doesn't look like what pop media creates doesn't mean she isn't beautiful. I guess negative comments like that are from people who forgot what actual humans look like.

  • @Classicwinter you got the right point here, there isn't any photoshop in real world and maybe it takes more time for some people to realize it.

  • @ismalinho Don't be that sentimental and don't be that kind of obsessed fan please. We can say she is ugly, lots of them are but damn they are talented and their music is the most important.

  • She looks better than your hand I'm sure.

  • @Morbozon THEN, I LOVE UGLY WOMEN!!!!

  • @Morbozon Have you never seen the band Hole before?

  • Comment removed

  • @Morbozon She may have not a model's body or face but who care? She's very kute & kool in this vid. I love this song.

  • @Morbozon She's not Britney, and that is great. This is real hman being, exclusive, not slave of fashion. For you she is ugly, for me she is one most memorable person I've ever seen.

  • "doll of Wax, doll of sound" apparently!

A cover of the song in 1965 was titled "Lonely Singing Doll"

  • doll of wax, doll of sawdust :)

  • no, doll of wax, doll of sound

  • that's actually a very common mistake between son and sound, but son it's the french word for sand/sawdust

  • I'm a native French speaker, just because I live in England doesn't mean I forgot my French. I think I know much more, by the context, what "son" refer to in this song than you. Besides, it doesn't really make sense to say "son" for blé/céréale unless you're some sort of weird poet. Sand would be sable in French. This song is a bit about manufactured bands where there is a cute girl that sing some song. So it make sense that it would translate to doll of wax/doll of sound.

  • Not at all, it DOES makes sense to translate is as the cereal, because they used to stuff dolls with straw and its kind of an expression in France ( I'm French AND live in France) to say " une poupée de son " to refer to an old-fashioned doll .Plus, the original song is pretty old, so I'm guessing they certainly did NOT want to express some weird concept by saying " doll of sound" .

  • Bon je m'incline. Je trouvais juste ça bizarre comme expression, mais on apprend du nouveau à chaque jour.

    English version:

Ok I will suppose you are right. Guess you learn something new everyday. Yeah I am on youtube admitting I was wrong ;)

  • haha désolée de m'être un peu emportée mais sur le moment ca m'a enervée :D

  • Son in the context of poupée de son means "bran" (or sawdust, resembling bran), of the kind used to stuff children's floppy dolls [3]. Poupée de son is a long-standing expression in French meaning "doll stuffed with bran/sawdust". It is also used in the expression Syndrome du bébé "poupée de son", "floppy baby syndrome" (infantile hypotonia), and can even refer to someone too drunk to stand up.

  • not doll of "sound" but it's doll of "bran"

  • Amazing - meilleure qu'une poupee de salon.

  • Dingue !

  • die könnten mal deutsche marschmusik spielen

  • bonnnnnnnnnn

  • bonisimoooooooooooooooooooo

  • :]] simply amazing.

  • amazing music and awesome remix!congratulations!

  • won 1965 eurovision song contest amazing song

  • REGINE!!! I think this is my new favorite Arcade Fire video. Camera work did a great capture too!

  • love this version! is full of energy!

  • It won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1965

  • awesome!!!

  • France Gall was hotter

  • Amazing cover of a fantastic song.

    Chapeau!

  • This song in Regine's voice is just perfect!

  • great song!!

  • Regine is a singing wax doll.

  • I dnt understan English very good. Is it good or bad?

  • The title of the song "Poupee de Cire, Poupe de son" translates to something like "doll of wax, doll of sound."

    ;)

  • I think "son" here transaltes as wheat brant.

  • @ismalinho It's a kind remark. The person is simply saying that Regine, the female singing the lyrics in this song, is singing the Wax Doll song.

  • @ismalinho

Dans ce cas les commentaires ne sont pas bons du tout

  • @ismalinho he means good

  • fantastic cover of the old France Gall song

  • Yes, it's a version of "Poupée de Cire, poupée de son" de Serge Gainsbourg

  • This is Gainsbourg's tune.
