I'm a native French speaker, just because I live in England doesn't mean I forgot my French. I think I know much more, by the context, what "son" refer to in this song than you. Besides, it doesn't really make sense to say "son" for blé/céréale unless you're some sort of weird poet. Sand would be sable in French. This song is a bit about manufactured bands where there is a cute girl that sing some song. So it make sense that it would translate to doll of wax/doll of sound.
