Temptation and Action are 2 totally different things. What if a person is "born" an Alcoholic, but because he's born into a Mormon household he NEVER even tastes a drop of beer, wine or other liquor. Is he an Alcoholic? All humans, religious or not have immoral desires. Acting on a desire is what makes it a sin. If you're an atheist then your moral compass is internal rather than imposed and you can basically do anything your heart desires if it doesn't bother your conscience.

You have missed the point. I am not trying to be something I'm not. Neither am I trying to justify my sin before God or man. By God's grace, I am free of the homosexual lifestyle I used to indulge in. That was sin, just as my drug and alcohol abuse were.

It is sad to see there are still far too many Christians who self-righteously deny God's gay children to the table and who instead judge and treat them with hate and disdain or with pity and fear. The bible doesn't say that homosexuality is a dangerous or unhealthy way to live.
It says that it's an abomination.
Just like witchcraft, eagles, cheating in the market by using rigged weights, dietary violations, non-Egyptian shepherds, ospreys, sinful sacrifices (non-sinful sacrifices are apparently okie dokie), insects, and temple prostitution.

I hear him saying how much boys need their Dads as healthy role models; to be emotionally available. How much kids suffer because of parents with addictions who are medicating & not emotionally available for their kids -- it breaks my heart. I think what you have overcome is so unbelievably awesome, science and so called genetics change there minds evry few years with new theories, when they do there so called controled studies they are meant for one outcome to prove a point, they are maniplulated, there is no conclusive proof. What attracts a gay man to a branch of christianity that condemns homosexuality? There are enough christian denominations that don't have this problem.
Whether he wants to be gay or not is his and nobody elses business. I find it wrong to exploit this man's story for PR.
Religion is about questioning oneself, not judging others. What about muslims, jews, buddhists etc? Not great chances for inter faith dialogue from THIS type of Christianity - oh man they are SO sure to be right - brainwashed?

You know what? You're right. I do still struggle at times with homosexual temptations. But I have been free of the lifestyle and behavior for years now.
I also still struggle at times with temptations to get high and to get drunk, two of my other besetting sins. I struggle with pride and jealousy, two other sins of the heart.
Does that mean that I should just give in and give myself over to the lifestyle of a drunk or a drug addict or an arrogant SOB, just because I still struggle?

You have missed the point. I am not trying to be something I'm not. Neither am I trying to justify my sin before God or man. By God's grace, I am free of the homosexual lifestyle I used to indulge in. That was sin, just as my drug and alcohol abuse were.
If it is a crime against humanity to oppose sin, I'm guilty. That also makes God the greatest criminal of all time.
But I'd say that, having created it all gives HIM the right to determine what is a crime. And HE says that homosex = sin.

BTW, what purpose do you imagine that "Nature" has put both homos and heteros here for? "Nature" in the sense you use the word is not a person, has no will, purpose, or intelligence. That is a nonsensical statement.
And I refuse to accept sin of any kind as being OK. Normal, yes, in the sense that it afflicts all of us, because we have all been born into a life of sin. But acceptable? No way. I want something better. I want a life free from sin. Any kind of sin.
