  • Best song on that album. Can t believe it was not a single

  • It means He is basically a scapegoat!

  • I'm italian, fan of manics. but what does it mean PATSY? is it slang? has it a particolary meanings?

  • I don't think we really know what it means either here in england, never heard it used in slang... unless it's a welsh term.

  • @westlifehateclub its like a scape-goat type thing. Lee Harvey Oswald (the person accused of shooting JFK) shouted it at a at journalists questioning hin. 1:59's him actually shouting it. and the first line of the song:-

'I am just a patsy, the Oswald in Lee Harvey.'

  • @Aysome I read somewhere that they weren't allowed to use the actual recording of LHO, so as far as I know, it's actually James saying it :)

  • @westlifehateclub I think the term Patsy is an american word meaning "scape-goat" or someone that has been used to shift blame on to. The most famous use of this is the guy who shot JFK, said he was a being made a patsy for shooting him. I think it's Oswald's quote that is used in this song.

  • @westlifehateclub It means a 'dupe' or 'sucker'. As I understand it, it is primarily an American term.

  • @MrDenis965 - It means you're a fall guy, getting blamed for something you didn't do

  • @scottj101 thank you.. !

  • A "patsy" is a guy who has been set up to take a fall for the benefit of others. The line refers to Lee Harvey Oswald, who after allegedly shooting Kennedy told the cops and the press "I am just a patsy".

  • @MrDenis965 I'm sure patsy is a term for someone who constant gets blamed for anything that goes wrong, I don't think it is a welsh term it could be a political term too.

  • @heyaevery1x thank you. you re really kind. :) now i understand.

  • @MrDenis965 I think it's Spongebob hamburguers.

  • @MrDenis965 The term was famously used by Lee Harvey Oswald. He was arrested for assassinating JFK and he said "I`m just a patsy" which meant that he was a fall guy and not the assassin at all.

  • @MrDenis965

try searching for patsy in wikitionary

  • @MrDenis965 @westlifehateclub It means scapegoat

  • @MrDenis965 The song makes reference to the quote by Lee Harvey Oswald the person who the Warren Commission completely blamed for shooting JFK "i'm just a patsy" is what he said. He was telling people he was set up in a bigger plot to kill the president.

  • @MrDenis965 : 'Patsy' is an American phrase for someone being blamed or taking the blame for something they didn't do, maybe to cover up for someone else. The song references Lee Harvey Oswald, the supposed assassin of John Kennedy. You can here the 1963 recording of him sayng "I'm just patsy" at 2:01 in the song.
