  • I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A RECORDING OF THIS BEAUTIFUL ARIA BY MARIA CALLAS....THE BEST IN SO MANY ROLES, AND I AMA SURE IN THIS TOO....A PITY, THOUGH PRICE DOES IT OK !!!!

  • I am still learning about the whole classical music/opera thing. This is the most exquisite thing I have ever heard

  • Encore, encore , et encore... Je ne me lasse jamais d'écouter avec ravissement cette voix sublime!! Quel regret dans ma vie de ne pas avoir eu la chance de vous voir une seule fois en live!!

  • oopps two idiots missed the like button :L ...x amazing voice...x

  • @Misspinkcustard Or, maybe they have a "tin ear" (laugh).

  • Renata Scotto's is my favorite but this is very wonderful

  • @peacocktravels

Hi would you know where I can find the words to this song? I would love to learn it.

  • @mayebelle81 Find the CD "Puccini Heroines" by Leontyne Price - the lyrics are in the CD insert.

  • Now SHE makes Edgar worthwhile!!!!

  • No one can sing this aria like Ms. Price!.....This is the essence of beautiful heart felt singing!....

  • My goodness. She's just the best. Over and over and time and time again, she's just the best!?!

  • The musical gift to the world of music...Leontyne Price.

A sound so heroic,...vulnerable,..fierce. Her singing and artistry reduce me to tears.

  • Oh, Leontyne Price! What beautiful singing................amazingly lovely, glorious, outstanding!

  • OMG that 3:20 was the most amazing thing i have ever heard...It just rang so beautiful!!!

  • I meant "groove" out...as in vinyl...kids today wouldn't know what that means! lol

  • I remember when I discovered this gem some 28 years ago on vinyl and I tell you...I wore that grove out!

  • What a beautiful voice. First time hearing this recording.

  • This is really a lovely aria... and I wonder why it is so forgotten... even the opera is "convincent". Of course, Leontyne is a legend... masterly performed. Thanks for posting these videos, as usual, an exquiste taste...

  • love this1

  • Thank you for this. I love it.....what a beautiful sound!

  • Does this ever bring back the memories, and the goosbumps! Awesome vocalism. Stupendous.

  • I have loved this since it first came out on her Puccini Heroines LP decades ago. Thank goodness it's also now on CD and here on Youtube for new generations to fall in love with the greatest soprano America ever produced.

  • I'll second that sentiment!

  • @dollartwenty don't forget Sills :)

  • @dollartwenty Oh yes, I've had this CD for a long time, and this version of "Addio" is unmatched. Every other soprano seems to have to prove how fast they can blast through it, but Leontyne takes it at a pace that preserves the majesty and grief of the aria. I can't listen to this without getting teary eyed. Brava! And thanks for also loving this album!

  • Great post, first time hearing Madam Price do this, WOW.

  • My favorite Leontyne vocal of all time, right after her recording of the Menotti aria from "Amelia Goes To The Ball." After 35 years I still have not forgotten her rendition of this! It should be in the vocal music hall of fame, if there was such a place, and if there is not, someone should found such a thing just for this recording. Bravaaaaaaah!!!!!

  • Thank you for posting this. Absolutely breathtaking. She is the reason I fell in love with opera. The only soprano who comes even close today, in my opinion, is Adrienne Pieczonka.

  • Cascades of beautiful sounds!!!!!!!!!

  • YES!!!! My first time hearing this aria. So beautiful

  • beautiful
