  • Meh, I've watched an episode of this and it's more kid-oriented and kinda goofy :s (why is his suit blue? it's supposed to be all black. -_-)

Batman the Animated Series will always reign supreme because it was made mostly for anyone but more for adults.

What we should really have is a mature Batman show that's based off the Arkam Asylum and City games with Mark Hamill voicing the Joker once again >:) Please happen soon.

  • This serie is amazing dude!!!

  • I won't say whether the lighter interpretation was better or not. However, I will say that there was another new series that tried to use the dark interpretation. It was called "The Batman." And we all know how that one turned out...

  • All these criticisms, obviously you haters have never drawn or written a comic in your miserable fan boy lives or you wouldn't have such a narrow minded thought process on what a fictional character can be. Batman can be anything anybody writes or draws him to be. There is no "Can't" when you're made of ink.

  • How dare things be FUN for KIDS.

  • THIS IS SHITE.

  • @eDunaway07 "Batman's rich history allows him to be interpreted in a multitude of ways. To be sure, this is a lighter incarnation, but it's certainly no less valid and true to the character's roots than the tortured avenger crying out for mommy and daddy."

  • this is a pretty good show, I like it, but I prefer Batman: The Animated Series. BTAS is the best show in the history of the universe

  • so i guess alotta people here are saying that a hero isn't a real hero unless he's dark and edgy with serious emotional problems right?

  • This is one of those shows that deserved to be on five days a week after school in syndication for two years instead of once a week on Friday nights.

  • this should be the opening theme

  • Hmmm

  • Utdchzcfjkhtttttfffdrtrtgfjgjvb

  • I've heard of many wackky villians but Kiteman really?!

  • actually Batman the brave and the bold beats the shit out of other that is new in CN,but you cant compare Batman:TBATB and BTAS cause there much more awesome too,ahem,"ben10 alien force"

  • @StrikeFreedom986 ya there are a lot worse cartoons out there..... there is a musical episode in batman tbatb which is corny and really bad but also kind of awesome in a way

  • batman is suppossed to be more serious,a dark hero who inspire fear to his enemies. What happened to the worlds greates detective?, to the dark knight?, to the psychopat killer joker, who thinks the moral of the people is just a simple joke and in this world could only be chaos? All we get is another, not stupid, but ridcuolus batman like joel schumacher'sbatman.ia mean, there is a reason why he is called batman, because criminals are scary of him.batman must be dark not a boy scout like superman

  • @drml91 ....well, clearly this Batman is inspired by the earlier works like the 60s and 70s, not everything in comic books is grim and gritty a la 1980s man, things change and different characters have different takes for...guess what...different audiences

  • @drml91 "Batman is supposed to be"

    BA HUMBIUG

YOU obviously haven't heard of THE SILVER AGE

  • @Treemeadow KIDS THESE DAYS...

  • @drml91 Read a Batman comic between 1945 and 1970. That's what this show is, a huge loving homage to DC's silver age. This show embraces the inherit silliness of comic book superheroes and how can you not love that? Also don't ever fucking compare this show to Joel Schumacher.

  • @drml91 Actually this show or scenario is before he became The Dark Knight. The Dark Knight as in what you explained.

  • @drml91 This is based on silver age stories. (1950-1980) which were just like this. Childish, and everything, just not dark. Itaas kind of point of the series.

  • @drml91 due to batman's multiple histories, there are a multitude of ways to sdisplay the grown man in a play suit crying to mommy and daddy.

besides in this series batman had a more happy life compared to the other batmen so its only natural he be more campy like.

  • @drml91 Which is wha he survived 40 years in comics without being dark.

  • @drml91 "Batman's rich history allows him to be interpreted in a multitude of ways. To be sure, this is a lighter incarnation, but it's certainly no less valid and true to the character's roots than the tortured avenger crying out for mommy and daddy." -Batmite Seriously, have you ever read the Silver Age comics? Or seen this show? It's not afraid to be dark (see the origin story in the first Christmas episode), but it's not afraid to have fun, either, and there is NOTHING wrong with that.

  • @drml91 who cares. i LIKE batman lighthearted. your opinion = invalid.

  • @drml91 What happened is that they created a SUPERB cartoon as an homage to Adam West Batman, but it's ending after only three seasons because some people just can't let go of the fact that Earth 52 with grimdark Batman isn't the ONLY possible Batman available.

  • @drml91 they're all valid interpretations of the batman.this is an homage to the earth-2 comics. so stop taking it so seriously.i love comic books, but if you take it so seriously that you're unable to enjoy the fact that they're simply making it fun, then that's an issue of your's not the writers. they love batman and i am sure are paying great respect to the history of the character. rather than show all the emotional, dark side of batman, they show the thing that everyone loves: fight for justice

  • @lephong Brave and the Bold isn't an homage to Earth-2's continuity, but rather to the pre-Crisis Earth 1.

  • @nakyer yeah. sorry about that. it's been a long time since reading old comics and details are fuzzy for me

  • @drml91 LOL, you obviously know nothing about Batman. I wouldnt be suprised, if you never read a Batman comic book.

  • i personally like the darker, more serious batman more than this campy stuff. this doesnt feel like the real batman. Batman the Animated Series was amazing. But this does look kinda cool. like an homage to the batman of the 60s.

  • @perfectshot50 so true

  • @perfectshot50 i think that was the point to this batman

  • blue beetle, sweet!

  • they gonna launch a nintendo game based upon this serie.

  • Batman is vengeance. Batman is the night. Batman is... not this. In fact, Batman: TAS lost its charm in the 90's when the crossovers with the Justice League started. Batman should be kept aside from the flying bricks, he's not in that sphere. He states it in many places: he works better on his own. Robin is no more than a load which was made to give him a talking partner in the comics.

  • technically though the golden age batman was similar to this

  • Comment removed

  • not sure what this is.

  • -from*

  • Eh, not sure what to think about this Batman, I think it's kinda cool that it's got that classic touch to it but honestly, I miss my 90's Batman from & the Beyond series. :/

  • The Camp Batman is BACK XD

  • very good.

  • Well, being a 70s child. This reminds me of the Batman cartoons I saw as a kid. And they were cheesy. That is the dialogue. I would have to see this to see if I like it but my first impression isn't that great. I really enjoy the Batman cartoons of the 90s and the Justice League of the past decade. Even "The Batman" series I grew to enjoy but it wasn't as good as the 90s. That's my 2 cents.

  • The original animated series shits all over this. The justice league continuity realm of DC cartoons was so much better. Why the hell did they ever cancel Justice League Unlimited?

  • I like this show, because I think it brings a lot of variety to the Batman lore.

  • I agree that Batman: The Brave & The Bold is not so great but disagree that Batman should be all dark.Older cartoons from 60s or 70s had good jokes but Tim Burton made Batman dark

  • @Zumaskalijev and frank miller

  • I'm dissapointed in this show. I thought it would be laughably bad like 60s or Shoemacher Batman. Someone needs to lower the animation budget to rival crappy DiC 90s cartoons, hire Adam West as the voice, some gay undertones with Robin, maybe some more pointless exploding sharks, get the writters high and take insperation from the horrid Street Fighter American cartoon.

  • you are but a LOT of people enjoy this show much more than the other crap we get in teh comics...

  • Best Animated super hero show since BtAS

  • i agree it's crap. after btas & justice league how can you go backwards? i know what they're striving for but, i think its too wacky for real bat-fans of the darker version.

  • Actually, being in my mid 40's I find this interpretation of Batman action-packed and hilarious. It has tons of insider jokes for my generation but not at the cost of entertaining superhero fans of any age- maturity isn't always gauged by birthdays and this is a show for those who like a little wit with their BAM KA-POW! Brave and Bold = winner!

  • @Fun0rama : Being in my early 40s I agree. It has the imagination of the Silver Age with the intelligence of the later ages.

  • Why the hell isn't Adam West voicing?

  • LOL Diedrich Bader voice produces a ehh unique Batman voice, I like the art style of the show its very classic Batman looking like some freak Watchmen motion comic blended with the Penny Arcade comics

  • ew he is weird looking

  • "JIG'S UP KIKE MAN"

  • Actually, I think he meant to say "Jig's up, Kite-Man".

  • yeap crap

  • this is for kids ONLYYYY

  • This batman is based off a 1940's comic now then that also being said, this one is SO SO

  • this batman looks like crap. the justice league and the batman (show) was the best looking batman no doubt

  • THIS is where batmans evolution has lead him??? O_o

  • what i want is a dark moody showwith a gritter batman like what they did with gotham knight

  • dark knight?

  • more like dark poo

  • Seriously! Anime style with plenty martial arts. Borderline graphic violence and adult language and situations and have it come on Adult Swim!

  • Heehee, I watch this every Sunday morning on Teletoon here :) I started watching from the 'Fall of the Blue Beetle' episode.

I grew up in the wrong generation, I wanted to grow up watching batman TAS but now I have to watch that somewhere else and just sit and try to appreciate The Batman :/ (WTH POISON IVY'S HAIR?!)

  • im sure they are doing a good job with thier hands

  • I wonder,

will kids watching this today, grow up,

    see this on youtube,

then say, "HEY! I remember this show! Good times."

  • lol that fuuny

  • i don't know why, but in some moments it just feel like Adam West is back... in cartoon.

  • I like this series, it captured the original look and feel The Batman was just bullshit

  • cool new batman cartoon

  • this batman is the cooler batman ever

  • Fucking Nerds! It's just a cartoon, if you don't like it don't watch it. Fucking bassement dwellers!

  • If we're the basement dwellers, why are you wasting your time reading what they wrote? Doesn't that make you worse?

  • Insult me doesn't make you a cool guy, you will be forever a virgin in your mommy's bassement arguing about cartoons.

  • LMAO! nice say

  • Idiot. I'm 21 and have had more sex then you could probably dream of considering your own time wasting. I've been in a threesome with a hot guy and girl, can you say the same?

  • Well, stop arguing about cartoons and invite me to one of your hot parties!

  • someone who brags about having loads of sex on a Batman video is lying

  • ^ ^

  • Nerds need sex too. Food, shelter and sex. We're not inhuman you know.

  • nerds might need it but they sure as hell dont get it.

  • It looks weird. I might give a go at watching it but I wont garuntee I like it. It doesn't look as fun as the campy original batman, or as dark as the first Batman animated series, both which I enjoy.

  • It's fun but a little serious. (Dudes die in this show). It's in between the dark and light which is what I think they wanted something both kids and adults can find engaging. I was very skeptical but the episodes have gotten better. It's got its own style as they try to show the Bat in new ways never seen before.

  • who died?

  • Ted Kord: the old blue beattle died in an explosion. Batman's Martial arts master died by poison. Of course Joker gassed someone to death; so yeah, a good healthy amount of violence in the show.

  • This is an amzingly good show, tipping its hat to the older 50's batman style... using some of the old school DC characters, but it keeps some modern flair (like the new Blue Beetle... and the new guy who is the Atom)... and it's more pulp action than brooding darkness.

  • Remember when Batman was dark, edgy and had complex characters and setting?

How come DC greenlights stuff like this and "The Batman" instead of going more in the style of TAS? I really dont get it...

  • because they wanted something new but failed

  • "The Batman" was terrible, but this show is great! It's really got the flair of the old pulp-action Batman and I hope they keep going with this show. As for "The Batman"... I hope we can all purge that from our memory. Batman: TAS really is the best, though.

  • At least it had Catwomans attitude right. Even if they did put her in those stupid goggles. *shudders*

  • Cowboy Bebop?

  • hell yeah, whens it coming up?

  • batman sixties style.

  • Obviously if you don't like Batman the Brave and the Bold is either because you are too old to watch it or you are not old enough to remember the old campy batman.

  • Well... don't think this is the Adam West version. This is got the light, pulp-action Batman more in tune with the 50's comics.

  • I'm 15, so I don't think I'm either of those, and I love this show. Like a lot of other people, I didn't think I'd like it from the concept, but it's just really good.

  • Agreed...I was just joking

  • Fuck YOu and FUck the younger Audiences

  • @sakootakoo Because fandoms should only belong to older fans, amIright?

  • The theme sounds like a jazz version of the Tick theme.

  • i dunno why but that blue person reminded me of big chill from ben 10 af! the show looks different & alittle old but looks alright lol! im sure kids love it lol

  • The original Bruce Timm Batman series was amazing, all the derivatives that are now coming out, hell all the shows that have anything at all to do with superheroes all look the same, and just because this one seems even more campy does not add to it's unique appeal. Batman is far more interesting as a dark noir character not this, I mean if this gets kids into comics then great, but I can't and wont watch this.

  • THANK YOU! Finally somene is on the mark

  • think whatever you want, the show is good. not just for kids, either. i'm definitely not bashing Batman: The Animated Series, hell no, but you should give the brave and the bold a chance.

  • I did give it a shot and it just does not deliver, obviously we have different ideas of what's a good show. I just don't think they are really doing justice to the characters, I mean batman isn't interesting to me in this, he isn't' mysterious and he's defiantly not complicated, he's just any other superhero and it does not draw me in. I just enjoy the batman from the comics and I enjoy the darker Nolan and Burton adaptations and this is the scooby doo version, so it's way too campy for me.

  • OK then, as long as you gave it a chance.

  • looks like a scooby doo wannabe

  • This is the WORST version of Batman in history why can't they just make a good version of Batman...At least Christian Bale did a great job as the Dark Knight

  • You so don't know what you're talking about. "The Batman" was utter crap. This show really captures the flair of the older comics and what a shame you can't appreciate it.

  • you know you guys are always hating on shows that you think are the worst but why don't you give this show a try its on cartoon network ,fridays at 8:00 pm maybe you might see its a good show

  • O_o the character design and the music reminds me of Disney Incredibles

  • Dc is obviously trying to get back into the kid fan base after the dark psycho thriller that was the Dark Knight movie. I like the idea actually. It feels and looks like the old 1960's batman comics. Green Arrow, Plastic Man, and alot of the popular heroes from that time look like they will make appearances in the show. If only they could have gotten adam west to do the voice of Batman.

  • lok like it could be the worst batman series since the 1960's live action series.

  • Super Heeeeeeeeero Time!

  • same here. i mean at least with this one they r following the comic but u know i still dont like it. i miss the 90 and bruce timm era

  • I like it- hope they use Celsius Mrs Desai Caulder from India

  • Looks fun. If you prefer the old series then go buy the DVDs. The style was great but it also lasted a decade (from the first Batman to the end of JLU). It's time for something new. We've done serious, now let's try a different style.

  • It's not that this new show has a "retro" style so much as that it's SUCH a departure and IMO much lower standard than the WB Batman:Animated shows I/we? loved in the 90's.

Those were excellently animated, written and directed...almost every single episode over 4 seasons (i believe) were intertaining to both young & old.

They weren't dumbed down either...these are simplistic and shallow in comparison, MAYBE entertaining to a 5 year old, if that's the target audience then I guess that's ok...

  • Terrible. What happened to the rough 'n' tumble Batman, or the once in a while look at the depressed Bruce Wayne?

  • I prefer my Batman as gritty and dark.

  • @Aragem Go read the Dark Knight Returns then ya gitter.

  • people should stick to jujst reading comics you can imagine etter theme songs and voices etc. instead watching batman and his new friend blue bugger

  • They gave up The Batman for this crap?@_@

  • Oh god...it's the Superfriends!

Okay, that's not fair...I know. But still, I guess I don't like that "retro" look because I remember how crappy the stories were back then.

I'm going to assume that even though this looks like crap from the 1970s...we're not going to see 1970s style storytelling.

  • if they add the joker atleast i hope he is a mass murdering sociopath as he should be....i like the style ;P its like the old school batman comics

  • its a shame that there are so many narrow minded people, just because it looks reto doesnt mean the story is going to be bad, they made this because there is a big fan base for reto looking cartoons, and some of the best series have had that retro feel, the whole point is for the person watching to have fun instead of wanting to cut your wrists like the current comics make you feel

  • the 90s animated series wasn't retro.

  • Sure it was. The whole show was set in the modern day but done in a 30s Art Deco style. That's retro.

  • it didn't suck ass though.

  • I don't like the animation, but hopefully the story and voice acting will keep up

  • Cheesy but fun... :D

  • "They gave him eye brows...EYE BROWS! Aw c'mon you're kiddin' me right?!"

Why, man- why...the Bruce Timm/Jim Lee versions are golden.

  • i actually saw one episode with my lil bro.

For a lil background info, i grew up with the old batman cartoons like the batman before Batman Beyond.

This new show wasnt that bad. I liked how they incorporated a different superhero working with batman every episode.

  • Holy wasted time Batman!

    Better use that Bat-anti-suck repelant.

    Oh NO!!! Too late!!!

  • All they're missing is the...

    POW!

    SLAM!

    DISAPPOINT!

Oh and a little homosexual robin, HOLY COW BATMAN!

  • For turning a comic line into animation, they did pretty well. I like how they are trying to appeal to a younger audience.

However, I have never been much of a fan of the Adam West series. (Batman dancing gives me horrible nightmares) And this show seems to have Batman smiling...Scary.

I probably will watch the show, seeing as I have no life. I just hope that the kids have a understanding of all the mythos, before choosing a favorite. So parents, show your kids the light and dark of Batman

  • I'm a big Batman fan, i like Burton's movies, Nolan's movies and of course Bruce Timm's series.

In all of them there is a "dark" Batman. Hoewer I like this nem series cause it has a nostalgic visual to the golden age of comix.

I hate the "The Batman" series cause it want to be so cooool ( like the Scuhmaer films)and i hate that kind of cooolnes. Batman vs Dracula - what they're thinking?

  • Yes, to the idiots complaining about this - not every incarnation of Batman is all bleak and adult, Batman is for 8 year olds too, thats what makes him cool. Adam West is just as important to the mythos as Frank Miller.

  • For all of you who are bashing this...I dont think you understand what this is.

Its from the Brave and Bold comic story line. Its supposed to be campy and cheesy. LOL.. If you look carefully, the animation is superb. They actually put effort into it.

  • can any1 see the similarity to the opening animation of the Adam West BATMAN series??

  • looks pretty cool

  • How could Bob Kane let the creators of The Secret Saturdays have the rights to Batman?

  • i like to watch this kind of cartoons for no reason

  • Comment removed

  • Batman the animated Series was AMAZING. Then batman Beyond came out and i wont be mean, it was really good but not as great as the animated series. Then The Batman came out and that was just...terrible. God now they're making this crap...what is this? Gorilla man? Archer guy? wtf? where's Robin, Joker, Riddler etc. seriously...

  • No, the characters' names are not that cheesy. I'm pretty sure the gorilla is Grod (or however you say his name) from the Justice League Series. The archer is probably Green Arrow.

However, I do agree with you in that the Batman TAS was awesome. I sort of liked Batman Beyond and The Batman. I do not really care for this serie's look at all. The newest Spiderman series (Marvel Universe) is pretty lame too. Why does it seem like the creators of these shows are all dumbing the cartoons down?

  • Because it cost a lot less to use this kind of animation and drawing method. That means it will be a while before we see a new good detailed cartoon again.

  • your right on man i agree with you 100%

  • Looks really dumb...Batman the Animated Series is better

  • the Batman Animated series is way better without a doubt!!!

  • This looks terrible. =/

  • kids shows don't always have to have adult appeal. Let them have their fun.

  • True but I'd much rather kids learn about "the true" Batman, not the campy 60s version that smiles in every comic book panel and that everyone with half a brain (Theres a lot of them now-a-days) pictures him as gay. I mean, they could of at least done something similar to or remade Batman: The Animated Series. It wasn't even meant to be a children's cartoon when it first aired, but kids watched it anyway. I know I did... I do see what you're saying though. I am just speaking from my preference.

  • It's with that kind of thinking that created Chowder, a show with the only purpose of making money off kids.

  • In terms of tone it's so far divorced from the mould set by Bruce Timm and company it's barely recogniseable, right down to the slightly knockabout theme music. Granted, the animation is slick, and there's definitely been progress there, but.... well, just look to JLU for slick production values AND a darker take on DC....

  • Reminds me of the Tick, if the Tick were Batman..........In the 60's, is it in the 60's? looks like.

    -Adam West

  • wheres batdog this looks like the type of show that would have him

  • There was never a batdog

  • There was too. I'm not even a comics fan and I know that. He was a doberman. From the old cartoons.

  • He is in A cartoon.not the comics.

  • finally, plastic man and blue beetle get some airtime

  • you know this has a real Dick Sprang style to it. i thought it was going to suck but it looks pretty interesting.

  • They have another batman series on at the moment whats the point of bringing in a new one

  • that got canceled

  • R u serious, it was actually pretty good. Thaks anyway

  • this is dum

  • Oh god..I think I'm going to be sick. Why do people feel the need to castrate Batman? Why can't they just let him be badass?

  • Why do I get a feeling that it was made to advertise some unfamiliar DC characters?
