I don't think it's about a psychotic guy with an imaginary girlfriend at all. I think it's about a guy who is lonely, and meets a girl, but she is sick, and fragile, and he isn't careful with her/their relationship, and she gets hurt/dies/leaves him, and he is depressed.

but then, the tender breeze of a fan, tears him out of his psychotic episode and brings him back to reality. his imaginary girlfriend gets killed by the fan and he falls back into his gray, lonely life.
during the further healing of his sickness he recognizes, that the disease would have been a better choice than health. but there is no way to get back.
so he decides to wait by the seaside for the next flood to get himself drowned by the waves.

honestly, does this require some strong weed to get into? the idea of strange percussive sounds over somber piano & violin certainly seems appealing, but after listening to 3 murcof songs in a row, the reality of it just doesn't quite take me anywhere.
i think some people really get into this and others just dont see what the fuss is about... i mean it might really click for you sometime, it might not

Something I love about Fernando Corona: He destroys every cliche people hold about Mexican culture. All you have to do is wait for someone to make a generalization, play a track by Murcof and wait for the apologies. Mexico City's a haven for eclectic intellectual artists -- far more so than New York these days. Few musician friends have any money, but people in the States are beginning to understand how that feels, too.
