umm the c minor scale has E flat, A flat and a B flat but the B flat is neutralised because it doesnt sound right. your teaching the wrong stuff, it should go; c, d, e flat, f, g, a flat, b, c. the b flat isnt played! only teach it if you know it properly!
there are only 2 C minor scales, there is C minor harmonic and C minor Melodic. seeing as a melodic minor has a different pattern on the way down, and he played the same notes on the way up and the way down it suggests he is playing the harmonic minor, and he was playing it wrong...trust me i know what im on about because im grade 7 piano. and have taken grade 6 theory.(i say trying not to brag)
wait i thought the melodic was like the harmonic going up and natural going down. or something. ahh i'm too confused! all i know is the one where you raise the 7th going up and then you play it normal going down. which is that?
this guy has such a bad technique at executing a scale you couldnt even balance a 20p on on his hand let alone a glass of water. In any piano execution especially scale passages your fingers should be the only ones doing the pyhsical work and not your hand!! or your build up tension in your upper hand. Its the only way to get a true free fast flowing execution. Plus he's missing the fundamental point of where to place your fourth fingers!! a must for beginners and good pianist.
Thanks great video, i understand now

This is not the C harmonic minor, which is taught throughout the grades and does not contain the Bb (flat).

You know why it has a sadder kind of quality, cuz you got the scale wrong, fail.

Your subtext mistakenly says C-D-Eb-F-G-Ab-Eb-C, although I think the second Eb is really supposed to read Bb.
erniedoob 1 year ago
@erniedoob its supposed to be a B, not even a Bb because in minor scales the 7th note is raised a semitone

@R3DCoke
In harmonic minor it's raised, natural minors it isnt. :)
