  • What points? These people have no real purpose or meaning behind this movement. End the hippy-fest and close the parks already!

  • @bigun89 - I'm overwhelmed by the vagueness of your comment. What people are you referring to? Where are all the hippies? Which parks are you talking about? Close all the parks? Sounds like you thought this one through.

  • @youngzaphod I'm not surprised your overwhelmed. Excuse the vagueness but without writing a novel of specifics I can't cover the Occupy Movement inhabitants and their camping grounds. I just want it ended, everyone's getting tired of seeing the movement and the absolute lack of any momentum to some kind of conclusion to this madness. No demands have been made, no one purpose outlined, only a pushy rhetoric towards authority. It's old, it's been done (look up the 60's). Find a new hobby pls.

  • @bigun89 - If you want it ended, do something about it. I would venture to say that your comment "everyone's getting tired of seeing the movement" has no factual basis. The momentum has built greatly over the last two months and I'm glad to see more and more people realize the true meaning behind the occupy movement, although you don't seem to have made that leap of logic yet. In the meantime, focus on the facts. Do your research. Don't keep yourself in the dark.

  • @youngzaphod Yeah, thanks for the "facts" in your last comment. You didn't challenge any of my comments besides the "gaining momentum" and the "everyone's getting tired of seeing the movement" comment and that was based on conversations I've had with people who have and keep a job.

So enlighten all of us on the interwebs, what is the purpose of this protest? What *are* your demands as a whole? Or do *you* even know?

  • @bigun89 - The overall purpose is actually quite simple. We want people held accountable for the damage they've inflicted on our country. We no longer want huge corporations having more control over the democratic process while they pay zero income tax. A dollar shouldn't carry more weight than a vote...period. Do you think that the vast majority of the pritestors don't have jobs? That's obsurd! The majority of the balance activism, full-time jobs, families, etc. Anything else???

  • @youngzaphod Then why are you here harassing these people? This is local government, these are the last people you should be protesting. You guys should be protesting the biggest lobbying pundits in local and federal government: unions. Better yet, haul your butts over to DC and just *END* lobbying PERIOD. You'll find the union thugs I mentioned earlier there. Moreover, the top paid 1% of Americans pay about 40% of the taxes that come in, how can they *be* anymore accountable? Cont.

  • @bigun89 - Study up on the American Revolution. Consider OWS and ODC, etc. as the Continental Army. Local occupiers are more like the minutemen. Our job is to stand our ground and take on issues locally in an effort to synchronize ine united effort to drive out the corruption. This is why you might see so many mixed demands that turn the complexity of the movement into a perception of chaos. Some folks are being harassed in semi-isolated incidents but this is not always reflective of OWS.

  • @youngzaphod

And if these people have jobs and families, why and how are they camping day in and day out? How is this sanitary? Where are they using the bathroom? Let's be real about this, it can't be healthy.

  • @bigun89 - It doesn't take a genius to realize that everyone is working in shifts on most occassions so they don't lose their job or neglect their schoolwork. Sanitation is typically handled by leased port-a-potties which are maintained regularly. Anyone serving food at an occupy fact is required to strict regulations for sanitation as well. People also take showers daily. Not sure where your concern for sanitation comes into play.

  • @youngzaphod I walked through the camp just yesterday and I didn't see a port-a-potty anywhere, but I may be blind. Good to hear though, that was my biggest concern.

Well, when you figure out harassing local government will get you nowhere it will be nice to see this end.

BTW, if you guys pick just 1 demand out of all of this and make it ending the Fed, I would picket along-side of you guys as would most of my political friends. Cont.

  • @bigun89 - The port-a-potties were on the street in a reserved metered parking spot last I checked. I'm not sure why you feel that we are harassing anyone. We have build strong relationships with several members of the council, we've had conversations with Police Chief Bobby Dodd and we've even published letters of gratitude to our local government, praising them for their cooperation in the Chatt Times. Ending the fed is at the top of my list too but falls right into the goals of OWS.

  • @bigun89 - The Fed Reserve is one of the biggest corporations that has been raping our economy and civil rights for decades upon decades. Therefore, it is a main topic of discussion at any occupy camp.

  • @youngzaphod It seems to be *becoming* the main topic, it seems most people are just pissed that some people have a *LOT* more money than others, which shouldn't be an issue. I'm all for ending the fed, all the other stuff (enacting Communism, capping pay, pay for my education, free healthcare) needs to be pushed out of this movement. If it were, you would get a lot more support from the Right.

  • @bigun89 - That's definitely been the main focus all along. People of your mindset can't see the forest for the trees, it seems

  • @youngzaphod So your denying all of these sub-causes aren't at the front of a lot of these protests?

  • @bigun89 - Sure, there are lots of sub-causes. Most of them, however, find their roots in the big scheme of taking our democracy back from the corporations. Some of the sub-causes are bullshit in my opinion. Lots of people will latch onto the movement to gain awareness for their personal agenda. Once again...you gotta be able to see the forest instead of only looking at the trees.

  • @youngzaphod But right now all we see is people who want to see the system tore down to anarchy.
