i don't mean to correct you or anything because you know you're stuff well but with boiga dendrophila.. their venom isn't really that potent though.. yes their rear fanged but fatalities have only come from severe allergic reactions.. I've heard that more often than not, these colubrids just give the sterotypical severe swelling among other things.. and for the record she's incredibly gorgeous. and i love watching your Bitis gabonica
@clovaclove I'm glad you didn't mean to correct me,because you're wrong. Their venom is as potient as many venomous front fanged snakes, just they don't have and efficient way of delivering it.
@viperkeeper Thank you for getting this straight. I was going to tell clovaclove to let one chew a little and see what he thinks about potency. I can remember feeding dozens of baby trees pinkies all day long about 15 years ago. Used to play "workin' at the carwash" in the background.
@minnesotajz : No, I don't think they like that. What I will do is rub a clean hook on my arm then let them taste it themselves. Then when I really trust them and have a relationship I will let some, not all tongue flick my arm directly.
@viperkeeper Hey, great vid, sniffs is good at being funny with feeding. and the mamba really chugs the mice!. one question. i have a juvenile Boiga dendrophila and it has worms. not many, but still, worms. what would you reccomend as a dewormer. my father is a veteranarian and knows how to treat worms in other animals, but is at a loss for what drug to administer. please tell me what i can use. thanks!
Hey Mr. Viperkeeper. I just hava a question to some phrases u said about the speed of some snakes. is it true that the lil´ Taipan is about 125mp/h fast? Or did I misunderstood that? Please apologize my bad English Germany calling ;)
Wow that's the same question i was gonna ask. Too bad, all the prettiest snakes to me are the venomous ones..
Thanks for the great vids Al, you are the guy that convinced me not to get so many of these snakes. For now I'll just stick with my super venomous and deadly Hognose : )
@godandie actually, it depends. some do have a nice temper and they're not unpredictable snakes. i live in indonesia and i have found a tame wild mangrove snakes many times before. but, they do have a long strike range, almost 3/4 of their body. so it's only recommended for experienced keepers
cool :). i have a sony cant remember wat it is. but it was playing up recently with my sony vegas but i fixed it :) mine is a newer one than urs. canny remember the model. but urs is realy nice qquality. you should try uploading it in 1280 by 720 resalution that would look realy nice :)
I've heard that from other people, but I don't buy it. Doing that gets you a snake which goes into feeding mode every time you try to take it out of its cage -- and which remains in feeding mode when you are trying to put it back in.
(I don't keep hots, but I do have a 125lb.+ albino Burm. Good luck getting her in and out of a feeding tank when she's hungry... )
i got 2 cages from herpcages and the edges were unexpectedly sharp when i tried to take the sheet of the plastic it cut me somehow. by the way the reason i bring this up is you mentioned them in a previous video their pretty good.
Has any local news media ever done any stories on your work? IE, TV or newspapers? I would think you'd get a ton of "snake see-ers" wanting to gawk at your zoo....
There's many things I can do but the reptile community is very cheap. Take my one of a kind Calendar I'm selling. I'm still not at the "break-even" make and it's almost Januaruy.
hey did santa bring you a cam for christmas? the zoom seems to be a lot better and i know that's been bothering you ... just seems to be better picture too. You don't hear much from me, I just watch, rate and move on but thought i would mention the better quality. enjoying your vids as always :)
Good to hear. You are truly one of a kind. Would hate to read about you getting killed by one of the animals you keep. If it weren't for your videos, I would never see (and come to appreciate) many of the species you have shown us.
That was a really bad joke! Using the rat as George just made my day feel a little sadder.......LOL just kidden that was funny as hell! Have you ever put your hand on top of a cobra? Could you do that in an upcomming video, just to show those brave or stupid people how it's done properly.
Just curious what the advantage is to tubing into a bag? I would have thought it would be safer and easier to head the animal and place it in the bag bag.

Do you ever blow on your snakes? Let them smell your breath? I do that with dogs I work with.
I would think that snakes react to light, temperature, taste, vibration - not so sure about sound. Of course I could also be very ignorant!

My uncle had a bunch of Mangroves back in the day.
My granny used to be in their habitat, cleaning and stuff.
This was back in the day when they were pretty new and there wasnt much info on them.
Good to see someone keeping them.
Last I heard they were quite considered docile as long as they considered it to be daytime?
To take the short road to my point: They werent considered venomous back in the day.
danielgraff 3 years ago
