I heard ED's "Love Island" album when I was 8, off an LP back during the late 70s (boy, do I miss those heady retro 70s!) Fell in love with the music; did not know anything 'Brazilian', least anything Jazz.
But then, heard more and more- and still enjoying his musical talents.
God! I wish I could be for one of his live performances.
My wife and I were there and I can confirm the grandiousness of the performance. Already new about Deodato from a good friend, but a live perfomance cannot be beaten... Please keep on playing... The Ongs, Leiden, the Netherlands
Thanks for posting this...I was 6 in 1973 and used to hear that tune as a jingle on the radio...Used to ask my dad who that was...Since his jazz culture stopped at Miles Davis cool period, he didn't have the slightest idea and answered: Jacques Loussier..I had to wait until I reach 27 years old to find out...
I guees I'm just slightly late to answer your comment... This was put together by a guy n Scotland and I really liked it... The first 1/2 used the original recording for editing reasons. But the second 1/2 uses real stuff (around 2:02, when I start the piano solo)... I still use this as a promo item...
yeah!
