My friend has two standard poodles he uses for hunting and waterfowl hunting. Both of his dogs (female and male) are very smart. They even know how to twist the lock and let themselves outside to go to the bathroom.

Remember when you adopt a poodle do not adopt another breed. Poodles who does become jealous are rare now a days.

Poodles are very sweet, always treat them the way they want to, not the way of harming them or they will runaway from home if not they might harm you back, just like humans when you hurt a person's feeling neither she cries and walk out or she hurts you back.

I love my poodle and we never have her hair cut like that in fact she only has about 1 cm of hair all along her body. She is brilliant and in fact when we got another dog Shasta was the one to train him I had nothing to do it;)

I have a minuture poodle who is brown and is named Codie. He is a year old and so active. He does not look like those fancy dogs fur he is so SCRRUFFY! He just jumps into the pool, does play fights with other dogs and eats is food in less then 1 minute. If a very shy dog comes into the house Codie usualy gives all his toys to her/him to fell elcome in their stay at home. I love him so much! I never want him to go! Also I'm Codie's actually master because it was my idea to buy him name him! <3

I <3 my toy poodle who just turned 1 year old. She is SO cute, but so skinny. When u give her a bath she looks a rat because 3/4 of her body is her hair. This animals are great family pets like the video but u have to be careful about their attuitude because if you dont train them propely they can get a attuitude. I HEART TOY POODLES!!!!!!!!!!

I have a Toy Poodle (I had a miniature as a kid and my brother has a miniature now) and he's a wonderful little guy. He loves people. There is truth about maintaining their haircut. I often get grooming quotes; small dogs, medium dogs and big dogs and Poodles! Cha-ching! But it's worth it. I keep him shaved down with his top hat trimmed. Most groomers are annoyed with the clean paws request but whatever. It's all about maintaining him and his hygiene. Definitely no silly haircuts for him.

if they swim the coat will absorb all the fur and they could have trouble swimming and could lead to drown the balls of fur covers the joints and chest to avoid cramps

i should worry for a poodle with heavy fur you will be much sorry if they drown

My toy poodle is very smart, but with brains comes a nervous nelly, so socialize them because they really are pack dogs! He's definitely a watch dog. Nothing or should i say no one gets past him without him giving you a number of barks. He's very loving and very good at house training, a matter of two months. That's they're good memory at work. They need their exercise, they're very active. But he loves to cuddle under a blanket and just stay close. They are a perfect family dog.

@MrBondBean I have had a poodle for 9 years, and he LOVES playing in the snow. i think that most poodles do! They may get cold easily though, so its best to buy a little sweater or coat for them. but i'm sure a standard poodle would be fine :) overall they're good with cold weather!

What is a "poodle cut"? Many different clip styles, what you describe yours is in is a retriever cut, or sporting clip. If you are referring to the pom poms and jacket as the poodle cut, that is called a continental clip, and there are reasons for it, it's not just for looks. It is also not demeaning. Educate yourself, and maybe someone might listen to you.
