Cats that have that type of fur don't mind water because they maintain their warmth. Only cats that get cold when wet or get water in their faces (which are very sensitive) will avoid water. Several breeds love water or at least will tolerate it, including the Maine Coon and Turkish Van.

What a calm kitty. Really, nothin' goin' on, just chillin' in the pool...A lot of Maine Coon cats seem to tolerate water, or even like to swim...

My cat scratches me when I shower him in a nice warm shower. Maybe I should just get him a kiddy pool and let him soak like yours?
