omg, thank you so much for posting this video. i've had quite bad 'discomfort' (i say that because my patronising doctor told me you don't get PAIN with scoliosis, you get DISCOMFORT) for a few years before it was diagnosed. i have a 23 degree curve to the right and then 10 or 11 degrees of rotation back to the left- and when the doctor in this vid said that it could be used on less severe curves it gave me hope! maybe i could use this.. anyway, thanks again xx

I'm 24 and they don't expect much CORRECTION in adults, but it isn't unheard of entirely...

Dear God that's like the worst scoliosis i've ever seen. I too have scoliosis but not as bad as u. You say that scoliosis dramaticly effects ur life style, but then again you have like a 56 degree curve. Mines only 20. I gotta waer a Charleston night brace.. With me i still have a curve, im still pretty young, but having scoliosis hasn't at all effected my life, but maybe, like u, our spines are flexible so it shouldn't really effect us as badly as it should. scoliosis my curve was 35 degrees it doesn't seem severe but it was causing neurological problems. i used to havea boston brace and it caused muscle atrophy and my muscles werent moving and my left side of my body is all screwed up. and i was having breathing problems and really bad numbness in my arms and legs it was terrible but now things are better =)
go to your doctor and bend over for them. When i was 12 when i was standing my doctor noticed my hips were uneven(still are). She asked me to bend over and saw some of a curve, she recommended some orthopedics for me and i went to further investigate it

I remember after my last surgery, when I took one of my first walks outside the hospital, and I started crying because I realized the pain was gone. Best day of my life. :')

WOW, I didn't know they treated scoliosis with a brace, seems like common sense but yeah. I think the coolest part is the look on your face when you notice how much better you feel. Put a smile on my face to see how happy you were/are. I commend you, I have scoliosis in my lower spine but never done anything about it except physiotherapy. I have wicked muscle pain all the time. I understand about the pain hun. Does the brace affect your body apart from your spine? For example, can it end up being too tight on your side and hurt your skin? Obviously that's not a reason to avoid it, due to the immense other benefits, but I'm just wondering if it is constricting or somehow manages to avoid that.

It does feel better, but as my doctor stressed many times. The Brace's MAIN purpose is to stop the curve from getting worse.
I had a full body brace went all the way up. It was hard and awful was yours flexible?

I have it too and have suffered for too long...this was cool to watch...I talked to my doctor and he had heard of the brace and I will soon have one as well...And I'm hoping for any relief...Brooke you are awsome!!...

Wow thats really great, I hope your progress is swift and permement. question Did you instantly gain height with the brace? how did the reduction in angle translate into height if it did at all?

I've got a larger curvature than you in my thoracic vertebrae..I'm suppost to be 5'10..I'm only 5'5. I'm in no pain...i was..but not anymore.

I have scoliosis too, so this kinda makes me feel better about it.
I haven't been able to get checked out though, other than at school. I don't have medical insurance or anything. I REALLY want to get an X-ray to see how bad the curve is.

Talk to your school nurse sometimes they can refer you to somewhere they can give you free help. Might also want to try your local health department.

You shouldn't have to worry about having insurance... you should be able to get proper medical help for problem. This country really sucks!

Yeah, it does. Like if someone without insurance has a deadly disease and can't afford treatment, then they just have to kinda... die. I find that really sick.

Does the brace affect your body apart from your spine? For example, can it end up being too tight on your side and hurt your skin? Obviously that's not a reason to avoid it, due to the immense other benefits, but I'm just wondering if it is constricting or somehow manages to avoid that.
