  • Shirley Booth won 2 Emmys for role as Hazel in this show - And a Tony (stage) and Oscar (move version) Best Actress (both) for her role as Lola Delaney in Come Back Little Sheba - Which was (is) a powerful movie.

  • Originally telecast on Thanksgiving night, November 23, 1961.

  • George had THREE other sibilings Steve,Deidre, and Phyills and we never see Phyillis after this episode

  • Shirley Booth was a fantastic actress....so realistic, you never caught her "acting."

Don Defore was pretty damn good himself. Whitney Blake, although a stunning beauty did not appear to be much of an actress but her character of "Dorothy" was really just window dressing, nothing more.

  • As much as I love this show...and watch it on t.v...the more angrier I get with the mindset of her character and the snobby nosed Baxter's and their friends who use her mercilessly! Knowing she has no kids, family or husband (and desperately wants them) they keep her subordinate and underfoot as their personal cheap slave by using verbal & Psychology Psyco-babble--telling her she's *one of the family*--yeah...right! Picture THAT!

  • @mslegacy01 You act like this was real life rather than a TV show. On the show, George's sister was a snob but I didn't think the Baxter's treated Hazel beneath them in any way. There was never any mention of her exact salary except to say she was one of the highest paid in the neighborhood. Anyway, I enjoyed the show and thought Hazel's character was great. If you want to rant and rave take a look at the trash they have on today.

  • @toddcharry yes so true!!!

  • @mslegacy01 I see it for what it is - Funny. They weren't trying to make political statements. They just wantedd to entertain. You had to wait for All in the Family to break down that wall. Then it became fun to laugh at ignorance and bigotry. Barroom humour.

  • They play mind games with her...to keep her subordinate letting her believe and *think* that they really love her and believe they consider her family...when all along, they are snobby, entitled jerks who use her and pay her very little for all the personal care she gives in return! What a rip off!!!!

  • @mslegacy01 fu commie

  • @mslegacy01 How do you know how much they pay her? Left wing goof.

  • One of the best shows ever I have season 1 on DVD waiting for the rest to come out. This was on before I was even born but it still cracks me up.

  • I was born the the same day as bobby buntrock.

  • This is baxters right?

  • The fact that she is called by her first name by the Baxters and their friends, all of whom are addressed as Mr. Miss or Mrs., is a big tip off.

  • I loved the black and white Christmas show. That was really good one.

I heard that Whitney Blake was very jealous of her daughter's career.

  • Such shows are true treasures.

  • Has Bobby Buntrock ever been released from that VA mental hospital the army put him after his time in 'Nam ? His tour with Calley really f-ed him up in the head..As late as 2009 he was still locked up in a padded cell..

  • Don Defore and Whitney Blake!!!!! i used to watch this in reruns dubbed in french, back in the early 70s...

  • If you want to see one of the greatest performances ever by an actress, check out Shirley Booth (Hazel) in "Come Back Little Sheba".

  • Whitney Blake was Meredith Baxter's mother.

  • Whitney Blake was Meredith Baxter's mother.

  • What kind of last name is Buntrock lmao!!!!

  • @cjzzzzz Bobby Buntrock died at age 21 in a car accident, on the same bridge that his mother died in an accident a year earlier.

  • @cjzzzzz Bobby Buntrock died at age 21 in a car accident, on the same bridge that his mother died in an accident a year earlier.

  • All that's missing is the Ford commercial...maybe Missy (Dorothy Baxter) will show up with her white '62 Country Squire! Never missed this show on Thursday nights--it was on right after "Dr. Kildare."

  • Divorce in those days, and in such a TV show!!!

    What a risqué topic!!!

  • There are no more maids like Hazel nowadays!!!

Just greedy, overpaid , stealing Latinas!!!

  • @koln1996 HGWT5763. 06/04/08/2011 A.D. GREEDY,OVERPAID,STEALING LATINAS,YOU SAY? WE HAVE A HUGE MAJORITY OF LATINAS AND HISPANICS WHERE I WORK AT,AND A GREAT DEAL OF THEM ,MALE AND FEMALE,ARE IN THE MILITARY,NOT TO MENTION SOME BEING PRIVATE CONTRACTORS AND SECRETARIES.NONE OF THEM ARE STINGY OR OVERPAID OR THIEVES.A LOT OF THEM ARE FINE,WELL-EDUCATED,UPRIGHT,LAW-ABIDING CITIZENS.

  • @koln1996 HGWT5763. 06/04/08/2011 A.D. YOU HAVE JUST DESCRIBED THE CASTRO BROTHERS OF CUBA,AND FRANCISCO FRANCO OF SPAIN!

  • That woman is... Very.... Disgusting....

  • Academy Award winner Shirley Booth!!!

  • How silly those neighbors were, as old as they were and still didn't know jack sh*t about diddly squat.

  • I just don't think George and Dorothy ever engaged in sexual intercourse but only once with "sport." Could he have been artificially inseminated"

  • AH! Hazel! I miss this series. They used to rerun it all the time. Thanks for posting!

  • If Mrs. Johnson didn't know what basting the turkey meant, why didn't she just ask Hazel while she was there?

  • I love shows from the 60's and this was one of my favorits

  • This is a lovely episodes!

  • Funny how Harold spoke correctly after being around Hazel's ain'ts and "dont' that look good".

  • true!!

  • Mr.B!! I miss this show.

At the timeI thought the boy who played the son was the same actor that was Circus Boy,who of course was MickyDolenz as a kid. They both looked the same, but later on I realized the two boys were different people.

What did Mrs. B do that they needed a maid?

  • @anticorpration "Missy" (Dorothy) was a free-lance interior decorator, although, outside of her arranging the roses in the opening sequence, I don't think she did any interior decoration!

  • Hell naw she didn't do any REAL work! She was raised to be waited on hand and foot and pretend she added value, when in fact, she did absolutely nothing...not even raise her kid! Hazel did everything EXCEPT f**k Mr. Baxter! She was THEE PERFECT ((low wage)) paid SLAVE!!
