I believe outside of the road courses, Pocono back in the day was the only track the pace car did not come down pit road. Instead it parked halfway down the short chute.
Ironic that starting in row 18 are Gary Balough and John Paul Jr--both making their post imprisonment NASCAR debuts. Both spent time jail for drug related charges in the 80's . JP kept his nose clean while GB awaits his 2010 release from a second imprisonment.
Well Gary "Hotshoe" Balough may stay in trouble with the law but he was my childhood idle. That guy used to tear up Orlando and New Smyrna Speedway. He was very friendly at the track. I miss watching him kick ass!
Balough is deservedly called 'hotshoe'. I too loved to watch him race-he was an awesome driver on dirt AND asphalt. He would have won Syracuse the year before he won with the infamous Batmobile, but he blue 31 he was driving that day lost a $2 valve cover gasket! Had he won it would have been 4straight Shaefer 200 titles for him. The Batmobile would have made it 5! It's just a shame that such a great wheelman is only grabbing bars right now, because he could compete with today's youngsters.
I also grew up watching Gary race and there are not many drivers as good as him still in my eyes and he is great with kids on and off the track always a fan here in florida

Thanks for the videos, battalionfan.
Do you have the big crash from this race where Richard Petty gets airborne? (Unless that was the other Pocono race in 1991)
