hey man i just wanted to start off by saying this is a great cover for a great song, but I remember going to an Arctic Monkeys show and seeing this song live (was the first song they played actually) and on the chorus I think Matt actually started on the floor tom instead of the hi tom, but I'm not too sure if that's how it was recorded or he just wanted to switch things up a bit, but I just thought I'd throw that out there, great cover regardless

This is what I THINK you are doing wrong...

If you search dance little liar live you can end up with a gig in California with a good view of what matts doing...

His left foot in the verse is constantly going, it's acting like the hi-hat does, 8 in a beat.

Also, for the chorus he uses only the floor tom.

This is what he did in the gig so I'm GUESSING that's what happens in the studio version.

For the highhat pattern I think you got it, John Ashton was at the organ and he hit a tambourine for each 4th. Matt could have been playing his tambourine as a "1 2 3 4" count but it was hard to tell.

One question springs to mind, tho: regarding the main beat, would it be doable if you played with the right hand always on the tambourine and the leff hand changing from the floor tom to the snare, if you moved the floor tom to your left, for an example?

Would that be doable or more complicated than the way you're playing it here?

That would be very possible! And it would probably sound very similar, IF you played the same "1 2 rest 4" pattern on the tambourine, although it would not be the same sound (and you'd need to step on the hats at the same time if you wanna be reaaaaaaally accurate about it).

So, doable but I think more complicated in a way.

I'm pretty sure. It's really hard to tell sometimes (even harder when you've got no live performances). If you have the original song in a decent quality you should wear headphones and go to 2:50, when it's only Matt playing and try to hear behind that snare hit.
