In the state of IA when you find this you should call your local DNR officer. He will or should issue tags to eliminate both animals du to the fact that they will ultimately end up dead due to broken neck or starvation. When tou do it that way you also save your tags to go on and harvest more deer. Happy Hunting!!

@NativePrairieWolf Not necessarily. Sure, bucks fight all the time, but when they actually LOCK antlers, they can starve, become dehydrated, or fall prey to other animals. In other words, they die slowly. It was much quicker and merciful this way, trust me.

@ConklinHunters They could have tranquilized them, but it probably would have resulted in one or both drowning. They would have had to wait for the tranquilizer to take full effect, then try to haul them out before the bucks drowned. It was quicker and more humane to dispatch the bucks quickly.

I came across two locked bucks that looked as though they fought for hours and died for days, one had a broken neck and the other starved so yeah I think the one really suffered. coyotes hadn't got to em yet so I used them for bait and got 9 coyotes in two days, and a nice set of locked antlers.

These two deer were LOCKED TOGETHER, so they probably had to shoot the other buck as well. You people need to realize that deer are large, strong, wild animals that will do damage to a human if provoked. There was no way to get these bucks apart! So is it more humane to let these two bucks starve to death for God knows how long, or kill them within a matter of minutes? They weren't shooting these deer for sport, they were shooting them so that they wouldn't have to suffer.
@Chut619 Check out the dozen or so other videos where they ethically separated the bucks without hurting themselves. Most use a chainsaw to quickly cut one antler. I'm a fanatical bow hunter so I'm no anti-hunter, but these guys are just unethical and give all hunters a bad name. Bet they even showed off the bucks like they shot them 'fair chase'....these guys make me sick and are NOT real hunters

They didbt hunt the deer for meat they killed it with the bow becuse of the rack How could you be proud of this the buck was stranded. If i was there i would of video taped it and sat back and watched i couldnt help the bucks though becuase they had bows.
As gruesome as it is killing this deer in that situation it gave it a quicker death. It was clear that the deers antlers were locked which is, almost certain death by starvation. Hopefully he took the other deer as well.

2nd when you hunt you never aim for the head the vitals in the chest is the accepted target when hunting especially in that instance when you could hit an antler and have the bullet fragment causing non fatal wounding.
@rosco1peco In my state hunting IS considered a sport according to the Division of Fish & Wildlife. And with a 7.62x54R at the distance he shot them at I wouldnt be concerned about a "non-fatal wounding" That is my round of choice.

I know they were locked and probaly not going to be unlocked but let mother nature take its way im not a hippie I hunt evry year. i actually up in my hunting lodge now. They didbt hunt the deer for meat they killed it with the bow becuse of the rack How could you be proud of this the buck was stranded. As gruesome as it is killing this deer in that situation it gave it a quicker death. It was clear that the deers antlers were locked which is, almost certain death by starvation. Hopefully he took the other deer as well.

First if you watch again the guy is hunting.He has his hunting number on his back like the law says he should. Secound if you knew anything that deer is dead at the very end of the clip. Its about ten seconds and he's dead after the shot.. Arrows make big hole with massive blood lost. Watch again and learn some thing..

@MGoose66 You don't know much about hunting do you? Shooting an animal in the head is riskier, if the animal moved at the last instant it will result in a wounded animal. And it actually causes more pain to the animal due to infection and starvation if you hit its jaw.....or a blinded animal.

I am inclined to agree with you. Also the fact that they were fighting each other was pretty messed up that he shot while they were distracted. I am a hunter but i always hunt with a gun and try to make the animal suffer as little as possible, i've never bow hunted in my life.

2nd when you hunt you never aim for the head the vitals in the chest is the accepted target when hunting especially in that instance when you could hit an antler and have the bullet fragment causing non fatal wounding.
