I think there is residual from the previous decades in all decades. If you look at any you can see the transitions in style. Its just easier to see in hindsight. the 80s went back to the weird stuff (remember neon?) then we went back to the casual grungey natural look in the early 90s. weve been having a good run economically until the last 2 years or so, so i suspect we will see more of the early to mid 70s stuff again. see the pattern? it never ends.
Nine years and what polar changes of approach! The commercial from 1962 was still sort of the 1950s ("Do welcome her, won't you?") and the 1969 one was quintessentially Sixties ("As forward moving as you," "Happening Now"). Then follows the Sixties-reduced version of 1971 and that whole scared, backing away attitude from the freakiness and disillusionment of Chicago 68, Berkeley 69, with that Hippie, "Back-to-Nature" fakery of the early Seventies. It's a three-minute time machine of fads.
The first ad is from 1961, when Avon Cosmetics celebrated its 75th anniversary {it began as "The California Perfume Company" in 1886, with one salesman based in Suffern, New York- its founder, David McConnell; the company officially changed its name to "Avon" in 1939}. The second ad is from 1969; the third, circa 1971...
Third ad features Maud Adams.

LOVE the first one, reminds me of my grandmother! The second one would give me a seizure if I were prone to them, lol.
Third one is cool too. I love all the voices.
