  • what pre sonus are you having to use.

  • Thats called a "Pop Filter". It is a light acoustic mesh that prevents "plosivs" from "poping" on the microphone. P's and T's are common plosive sounds where you get that burst of air. The mesh breaks it up so they are minimized on th emic.

  • Whats that thing called in front of the mic?? and what does it do??

  • please drag this link up, great video /watch?v=XeMfeTBvMK8

  • Nice

  • i have a ? i like makn music and im new to equipment what would you need to hook up a mic to you laptop and wut would be a good software to rap protools??

  • @MrAiirHead Get Logic Pro - it's only 500 bucks and you'll have a great composition tool. The M-Audio fastrack is fine - a few inputs and outputs - but 24 bit and 96Khz is what you want for fidelity. Stay away from hardware mixers as you're not going to need them since everything is replaced these days with software like Pro Tools, Logic, etc. No need to degrade audio by running it through an analog mixer.

  • Excellent video. Yeah, my company produces on hold message and voice mail prompts for businesses. I always get asked what do I need to buy to get started. And your video explains it very well.

  • Awesome Video! THANKS for doing this!

  • Around How much did your equipment cost. O and by the way im getting ready to start my classes soon.

  • Yes it is. That's what I started with.

  • is that the m-audio producer mic on the table by your mouse pad?

  • Hardware is number one? well, after your God-given equipment - yeahh..

  • Nice!

  • very nice MITD, im dreaming to be a pro v.o guy but unfortunately, money is hard to find here in Philippines, so i just using a cheap one with bad quality

  • Good stuff ! Enjoyed the video and great explanations about the gear... Thanks!

  • Great video, exactly what I was looking for.

  • and the

AKG Perception 120 USB is that a good one?

  • Yes, I am using Adobe Audition 3.0. Very happy with the capabilities and final output. In my opinion, it was well worth the investment and does everything I need it to do.

  • r u using an abobe software?

  • I need to get a good quality mic....

  • @NotMachinima I have my Electro Voice RE-20 for sale (The one in the videos) for $400 including overnight shipping. If you are interested, I can get it out Monday Morning for Tuesday delivery.

  • @MITDPROD Thanks for the offer but I think I'll go for something a little less expensive to start off :)

  • Great information man, thanks a lot.

  • most mixing board have a build in studio chan

  • Hey Mark, quick question. I notice you're using the front ports on your Fastrack Pro instead of the rear ports. Doesn't the gain from the fastrack combined with the gain from your Studio Channel cause unwanted noise? I only ask because it did for me. Of course I'm using a Joemeek pre (noisy) which might explain it. Anyway, I enjoyed your approach to explaining the business. I've been doing VO for about a year now with some success. Everything you said is spot on with what I've encountered

  • Hello, thank you very much for this video.. it is great to get some tips. I am young, 20, and trying to get into this career and its very difficult getting started with no knowledge of what kinds of mics/hardware is needed.

I have the acting experience, and I have taken voice classes, just I need a decent mic. Thanks again for the great vid!

  • hey , i thought voice over's were for animated films, like pixar and disney.

what kind of voiceover stuff do you do?

your voice is great man, very calm, not breathy and irritating.

    keep up the good work:)

  • @ONEyeMarco Anytime you hear a recorded disembodied voice, it's a voice over.

  • Wow, great video! Thanks

  • Thanks for sharing! It's nice to see what equipment others in the industry are using. By the way - a tube-style preamp does NOT have a cathode ray tube. It has a Vacuum tube. A CRT is what's used in old-school computer monitors and TV's.

    ...just FYI.

    Thanks, again for sharing!

  • I am already in the voice over business... have been for about a year now... however I still have to learn A LOT about whatever has to do with equipment and hardware... will be considering a home studio soon... and this has been a great help! Thanks!

  • You rock!!! This is awesome!!! Thank you so much. I love your videos and they are definite 5's in my book. More if I was allowed. Keep them up, they are great. One thing, do you think it is possible for someone to get into voice over without any training? I have talked to some people that say they got into it without taking any training classes or workshops. Anyway thanks for the video, it makes my day.
