It's possible the show was as great as it is BECAUSE Harry was dying. He wrote it whilst going through cancer, even writing it whilst in hospital too...right up to the point of departure.
At any rate, it's greatness is preserved forever. Would be much worse if they dragged it on and the show lost it's edge. Just look at 'have i got news for you' .... another Harry Thompson vehicle that was ballsy and had razor sharp teeth for so long, and then turned to absolute fucking drivel. sad.
