I was searching videos about nitroalkane chemistry and came upon this one. Though unrelated and far off my area of expertise it was rather interesting. Well done.
By the way it's farmers and nutritionists that are warning against synthetic foods, pesticides, GMO's and things like nitrites/nitrates not Science. Science today has no objective but profit. Your doctor is not going to warn you against nitrites/nitrates he has no financial interest to do so, I am not a troll I am a very intuitive, well read and skeptical person and you stillf have time to join wake up.
No. Canaan1967, unfortunatly you have missed the point I was making.
1) YOU WERE NOT THE TROLL BUT BEING TROLLED.
2) Civil comments are appreciated (I do get some inappropriate language) but need to be on topic.
You are clearly passionate about a good number of things and I do truly respect that however I find that these sharp divergences off topic, when they appear, just lead video comment threads that end up having little or nothing to do with the video.
I will have to shorten the comment tread to avoid this inevitability but I can agree with several points you raised. However, I am not alarmed, largely because "there is no new thing under the sun."
Science is now and has always been corrupted by politics - all the way back to Alexandria and beyond.
Greed exists and has for time immemorial.
On the grain, remember what was said "give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, but teach him to fish and you feed him for life."
A deficiency of nutrients in the soil makes ground "infertile". That leaves two options 1) find a plant food which will thrive in that environment or 2) supplement those deficiencies. There is a third 3) option, very natural but not so humane, let the human population simply die off by disease and starvation until the natural carrying capacity of the land is met and balance is restored.
Only options 1) and 3) are sustainable. The "dumping grain" delays #3 until #1 can be found.
These are difficult problems to solve surrounded by self-serving rhetoric suitable as political fodder on the impressionable and the young.
The poor will always be among us. [IMO] That isn't an excuse to do nothing but a statement on the limitations of man; in his ability to concur his inhumanity.
It belongs in political forums not in a nitrate video comment stream.
911 was a false flag operation against innocent americans to further adventurism and war to protect trans national corporations and the investor class of this country. Your whole life has been an entire lie. So if the STATE (NOT NECESSARILY THE GOVERNMENT) can perpetrate 911 then why would you think that they care about what you eat? Don't tell me you have faith in Modern Medicine! They have not interest but profit. The germ theory of disease is a hoax! I could go on and on. WAKE UP!
It's a building block for the polymer polyacrylamide. It's added to herbicides to reduce spray drift and acts as a surfucant. Heat and light contribute to the release of acrylamide from polyacrylamide. The glyphosate herbicide Roundup made by Monsanto is of concern because it interacts with the polymer. Glyphosate was found to influence the solubility of polyacrylamide so care is was taken when mixing the two. So it's best for humans and animals to eat pesticide free food.
The subject of food additives, pesticides, et al is often controversial. It is also beyond the scope of this video.
People have such strong and valid emotions from all around that many fall victim to those trolling for heated discussion.
Every situation needs to be framed in context. People's arguments against "frankenfoods" (genetically modified) i.e. hybrid squared, looses all meaning if it grows grain in an arid region that feeds a starving people
I agree pesticide, herbicides should not be used by the ignorant and without thought of consequence to the environment; however, they can in many cases be the least damaging in context.
If for example, productivity of 100 acres is improved by 40% when using said products, that in turn helps save other acreage from the destruction of habitat.
I agree 100% that the man-made and I'll extend it to natural chemicals in unnatural concentrations, should be strongly cautioned.
Consider France's killer algae; not genetically modified but a example of man's influence on his environment.
Consider "natural" solutions gone wrong like Florida's love bug.
Consider the over-reaction and political agenda chasing people such as Tennessee's own, actually he is DC's own Al Gore Jr. (Al Gore was actually a halfway decent guy).
Intelligent, science based facts which weigh carefully establish facts and the avoidance of gut-reaction to preliminary results and misapplied science is key.
Do not assume the sky is falling nor bury one's head in the sand.

canaan1967, you just never know when you've been trolled until after he has sunk his claws into you.
I appreciate the comment. Much luck to you in the future.
I was merely responding to one of your viewers comments. How about the framed context of proper nutrition that human beings have survived on for millenia. If you are going to invest your future in what the State and Corporations tell you is good for you and profitable for them then you are not going to be alive much longer I guarantee you. It may be too late for all of us.
It is precisely the dumping of surplus grains by US agribusiness that are preventing other countries from having access to their own fertile land to grow their own food and is exactly what is causing starvation and poverty.
By the way trolling is a term used against people who are infiltrating the internet spouting corporate, state policies that represent the dominant, destructive paradigm of capitalism.
Science has become undemocratic and ruled by moneyed interests
I understand that the odds of negative human impact are 'low', but I still have questions. My sweetheart loves spicy sausages, but has delicate health. Cancer is a problem.
Do I have to use these types of products? Do these products only affect the color of the food?
Are there any other products that I can use that provide similar results?
Can I forgo these products all together? What are the risks if I forgo these products when cooking or making sausage?
I cant quote the CFR but it is legal to sell nitrate free sausage. Compounds called "cures" when used at the appropriate levels ensure as nearly as practicable a total kill-off of harmful bacteria.
The USDA has established xLog reduction standards for pork, poultry, etc. (not all same - I think you will find the chicken requirement is higher than beef).
A notable effect will be color fixing but some stabilization could be expected. However, if you run a clean kitchen, ultimately this is a cooked product. It can and will spoil if mishandled.
The benefit of home sausage making is you, and you alone control the balance of ingredients. As I recall, every sausage shown has been in the cooked classification - dried and semi-dry are not discussed for various reasons.
What brought this video to be was someone had been to one of the sausage forums and someone had dispensed advice on dosing. That advice using general available mixture resulted in an over dose - or perhaps I should state over the maximum allowable federally GRAS. The level given this person was for brining (a salt water bath like pickles for example - bacon, corned beef & fish (sometimes) are examples of brined meats.
So this was to show - different levels for different processes/purposes.
I tried to paste the link for you but youtube would not accept it. If you type in "Nitrosamine and related food intake and gastric" in google you can find it easier.
If you can substantiate that statement w/reputable medical sources such as JAMA or The Lancet published w/in the last 5-10 years, the comment above will remain.
You may find articles based on low fiber/high fat & over consumption of red meat (a primary contributor of animal fat) but I doubt you will find nitrites/nitrates as a major risk for colon & rectal cancers.
Look to see how many people die or become ill world wide from food borne pathogens & you will see they have their purpose
I eat grass fed beef and lamb, free to graze chickens and their eggs raw milk, butter. I am a meat lover.
I don't subscribe to profit driven modern medicine but here is a reference.

Exactly. I am familiar with nitrosamines and where the come from. A great deal of misinformation continues to be distributed and or misunderstood. You can't create the compound without nitrogen.
What makes grass the grass green but nitrogen as a basic element in plant life. There are higher nitrogen concentrations in plants than in red meat.
So, do you really believe there are more produced in cooked sausages at the GRAS levels or in cooking vegetables?
the point is, you will have a greater chance in finding golf balls at a driving range than along the Interstate. It is possible to find them along I-90 but you will find them more prevalently where they naturally occur.
Same with deer or cows. I find more in the country.
The confusion is in the source of the nitrosamines and the temperature it takes to create them - caramelizing onions for example.
I am not debating nitrosamines are potentially carcinogenic. What I am saying is adding adding nitrates and nitrites at the GRAS levels are not an unacceptable risk and the suggested link between is not established.
"emerging research" shows a great deal. persons are required to publish.
If I dance and beat a drum afterwards it rains - it still doesn't mean I made it rain but I'll grant you it may look like it.
Morton Tender Quick advises against using their product as a substitute for salt in other foods.
The demonizing of red meat was due to the media's failure to specify the reasons why "red meat" may cause stomach cancer. From what I can recall the study was about processed meats and Sodium Nitrites.
So it may not be economical for you to admit that there is a link the precautionary principal exists.

Nitrogen and, Organic Nitrogen are not the same as Nitrites or Sodium Nitrite.
Red meat is extremely healthy to eat, although politically incorrect.

Yes because Sodium Nitrite is being added.
