  • It's called 'lilting' for obvious reason. It probably comes from the dark times of Ireland when the music was banned, the instrument lost. Singing the dancing tunes have saved the memory of the music from extinction (there was a very few recordings and notation in these times...)...

This technique has been imported by Irish immigrants in Canada, and improved in Quebec (aka 'turlute')

  • What type of accordion is he playing?

  • an irish button accordion

  • i really dont no but i know that its b/c. if i was to take a guess, id saay its either a cardian or kincora

  • Bobby's accordion was made by the French maker Bruno Priez, it is in B/C.

  • pure genius

  • Brilliant musician.Sounds nice with banjo

  • Bit of a cheek having Bobby Gardiner play the accordion while having an advertisement for Tony MacMahon in the background lol

  • Not Tony McMahon. It is McMahon, auctioneer of Ennis.

  • I was only joking it's spelt different anyhow. It seems to be a very popular Clare name.

  • a real irish legend more power to you bobby

  • there is a mistake in the description. the second tune is the northern version of "maid behind the bar".

  • I always thought is was a version but it is the Maids of Castlebar, I think purposely the name itself sounds like the 'Maid behind the Bar'

  • Fantastic playing - one of the best accordion/melodion players and lilters.

  • the best....listen to that... amazing

  • Great musician Brilliant!
