Actually, it was discovered in 2008, to be precise on March 15, 2008, when the Leipzig auction firm of Johannes Wend offered Lot No. 153 with “manuscripts from the estate of Wilhelm Rust."
The Rust items were acquired by the University-State Museum of Halle/Salle, and finally due to the fastidious work of two editors, Stephan Blaut and Michael Pacholke of Halle University, the chorale fantasia was authenticated and has become BWV 1128!
Need to thank God when something like this happens sometimes. The structure recalls very closely "Ein feste burg ist unser gott", BWV 720...Thank you!
Not till today that i found out about the discovery of a strophic aria "Alles mit Gott, und nichts ohn' ihn" (Bwv 1127) in june 2005, found in a shoebox, and this interesting organ piece. It is so exciting! Cool picture, thanx!
@codeman2008 According to history a Musician noticed notes by J.S.B in butcherShop where the Simple-minded Storekeeper Packed the Meats & Fishes in hes notes "! He had Sags of them in the storage facility. I dont even want to think how many Sublime Masterpieces are gone before that time.
@bachspirit there is not really "bachs pipe organ"
the organs at st. thomas in leipizg, where he was kantor for his last 27 years, aren't from bach's time. there are some organs that bach played on, but i dont know where this was recorded, does anyone?
Is this music now available top be ordered by a music store? I would like a copy to play myself as well as study it.

There is hope, then, that 'fragment X' may one day turn up! (If, of course, it ever existed!)

Or how many times can you say you heard a "new release" by Bach? And there are a bunch of 'em out there. Maybe more will be found.

So who is playing this? And what is the provenance of the recording?

Somewhat similar in construction terms with BWV 720 and 747; who is the performer?

Truly a discovered gem. I'm wondering how many other Bach works are out there yet unknown.
Thanks for posting this one.

@toxiconegro I read about 40 %. Then the complete works would be 260+ CDs.
