  • in 20 years marquette park turn into a ghetto neighborhood, so that white guy new this was going to happen if they let them in, but why did the white people started moving i think that they should of stay there.

  • I grew up there and I was am not white. l am of middle-eastern decent. We were the first to move to this area. The horrors I endured of being called a "N" just about every single day. Frank Collins was a pig and terrorized the residents. I was always afraid as a child. BUT, I go past there whenever I visit Chicago and I laugh and cry tears of joy and other emotions when I see how the white have moved out. It turned out the Frank Collins was actually a Jewish and German mix.

  • @cutenu2 Now when you drive through Marquette Park, consider yourself lucky you don't get robbed or killed. Now this is one of the highest crime areas in the city of Chicago since all the "evil" whites moved out.

  • I am blessed not to live there now. Yes, I do see how the people who live there have turned an otherwise nice, clean, quiet neighborhood, into a drug riddled, murderous, disgustingly filthy neighborhood. The whites that lived there moved out and sold it to the people who currently live there. I've seen the ugliness on both sides. White's can't complain, becaues they started this mess. The blacks can't complain about whites because they themselves destroyed Marquette Park all by themselves.

  • @cutenu2 Maybe whites acted the way they did to prevent this type of negative change in their neighborhood. Whites may have been "racist" in your eyes, but the neighborhood was relatively crime free and there were no burned out buildings and gang problems that exist now.

  • Well, I'll put it like this, Chicago is a racist city and we all know that. It was always segregated. Hate breeds hate as your nasty choice of words has proven. But I still agree with you. I am disgusted at what the people who live there have done to my old neighborhood. Othersise beautiful homes turned into a ghetto hell. There is evil everywhere and people make their choices of whom they will serve.

  • @cutenu2 I know, I lived at 6456 S Francisco for years. You say "hate breeds hate", yet in Chicago, 80% of the homicides are committed by blacks, 19% by Hispanics, 1% by whites and "other" races. So there is more "evil" in some places than there is in others.

  • @standtall67 You proved my point. Hate breeds hate. Evil lurks in many places and in many shapes and forms.

  • @cutenu2 STOP spreading lies about Marquette Park. I still live here, and have just returned from a bike ride from all around the Park. It is beautiful as ever, and I saw joggers, but not one gang-banger. The people on my block are nurses, military families, and teachers, all middle-class. We have a private security patrol. On Sundays Nativity BVM church is filled with new Lithuanian immigrants. We are a diverse community, not what you are attempting to malign in your racist comments.

  • @gintas35 First of all, I am not spreading lies. I am stating facts and my personal experience. I also did not mention anything about gang-bangers. You have your own experiences and I have mine. I am also not a racist by sharing my experience of growing up in that neighborhood. Nice try.

  • @gintas35 Nice try. just go and look at the chicago pd crime stats and you will see the Marquette Park has one of the highest crime rates in the city. I was a delivery driver(UPS), and delivered through Marquett Park for many years and saw first hand the deterioration of the area. The burned out buildings, the spray painted garages, and the huge number of gangbangers. YOU are the one spreading lies.

  • @standtall67 I am reading your post, at my home in Chicago Lawn (Marquette Park), and today couldn't be more peaceful. This afternoon I attended the convocation at the University of Chicago, where my cousin was graduating. On the ride home I did see boarded up buildings in other neighborhoods, but only 2 in Chicago Lawn: both on California Ave. north of 63rd St. Come on over I'll show you.

  • @gintas35 Just compare the crime statistics from when Marquette Park was mostly white to now. I was a driver for UPS and can show you many more than 2 buildings that are boarded up. How does it feel to live with blinders on?

  • @standtall67 Calling me the N word almost daiy is indicative of the racism I endured. Not just in my eyes. But also, I see your point about wanting to keep the area relatively crime free and clean, etc. It saddens me to see what the other people of color have done to the neighborhood. something they can not blame on the "white man", and lack of opportunity, etc. It's just sad.

  • Grew up there. Nothing to do. Whites were wound way too tight. In fact everyone of all colors got annoying. Everybody brought out the worst in each other. Somehow I miss parts of it though. Why???????

  • Sometimes there's really no good reason why other than you just lived there.

  • I am a student doing research on Marquette Park and the NSPA. When was this footage taken?

  • in MQP

  • not where, but when. Do you know what year this clip aired on WTTW chanel 11?

  • 1976

  • Don't hide from the truth about Marquette PARK.Don't be a typical liberal who is afraid of the truth if it does not fit your liberal agenda.Look up how much crime rose once the niggers took over that area.Sorry, but the truth is the truth liberal.

  • Once the niggers and spics moved in,the neighborhood went to shit.

  • I moved here two years ago. I've been called many things before in my life but nothing like that! Well, theres a first for everything.

  • Igrew up ther now i live in southern il lot of memoreys its now crack heads but it still marquette park

  • shut the fuck up bitch aint no crackheads on da Kedzie side bitch u prolly lived on the other side (black side)so u better check urself b4 talk like dat punk ass bitch get smacked

  • This is so funny - I was stopped by the police (im a white guy) and i was asked why i lived in that area. Ironic!

  • I don't care what group of people I live with as long as they're decent group of people.

I don't think it's as much the race or skin color issue it's the fact they somehow sell homes at a low price allowing people who don't have much to move in and whenever you have a poor class of people concertraited in a certain spot you're gonna have a lot of crime there.

  • I see your point, but what actually happned back then was after the first white family sold their home to a decent black family, realtors began what was called block-busting by using scare tactics to get people to sell their homes ASAP. Sad actually.

  • Take a look at Marquette park today.A crime infested area of blacks and Hispanics.Once they moved in the area went to shit.Any people in denial over this can take a drive through and see for themselves.

  • Want to see more. Is this the 1976-1978 documentary?

  • Certainly do.

It's not like they ever rerun this stuff.

  • The niggers ruined the once beutiful neighborhood once known as Marquette Park.

  • Can you put up the rest of it? Looks like there was much more too see.
