I think the problem people have with ADHD (and many other disorders) is that it simply attempts to put a name to a combination of certain behaviors/brain functions. My youngest child has already been diagnosed with ADHD and I am currently in the process of having my oldest daughter screened for ADD/ADHD. She is defiant and doesn't seem to be able to make the right choices like a normal child her age. She turns 17 this month and I am concerned that if she doesn't make changes soon; she is in danger of being expelled from school due to her behavior. Our biggest barrier is transportation. I've been advocating for our family and I won't give up.

yes, im a compulsive procrastinator - so I overload and overwork. when i use alcohol to make people more interesting at parties, i become hyperactive. i can hyperfocus if the work is interesting and challenging. im 13 and i was diagnosed in..... i dont know. i have got it pretty bad however i do not wish to treat it. the medication crap just spaces me out and makes me jittery.

Untreated ADHD kids are sitting ducks for drug addiction, NOT the otherway round.The irrirational & ludicrous comments, only reaffirms my fear that we have become a nation of mindless, uneducated, low intelligence & ignorant people. If u do not treat a child who has been prof.diagnosed with ADHD (mod-severe) then you r an abusive parent.Get facts from reliable sources. If I had been diagnosed as a child, my life and the choices I made would have been profoundly different. RITIAN DOES NOT CAUSE DRUG ADDICTION. The driving force (always) for an untreated ADHD person is to try & normalise their brain. There r 2 ways we do that. The first is high risk, adrenilan raising behaviour (including crime) the other is by using drugs (Narcotics mainly).Children given medication as part of their treatmant DO NOT LOOK 4 INAPPROPRIATE WAYS TO TRY & "FIX" THEIR BRAIN. Hello??!

Well done! I have 2 children with ADHD and if it were not for medication and help from professionals my childrens lives would be miserable. My children are well behaved in their late teens and have not advanced to any form of drug addiction at all I might also include that my children were lucky enough to take medication during school days and not weekends or holidays,soin no way addictive. Thank you for this video clip as it does give the facts and not the stupid myths that someto preach about!

It is more likely to induce dependency than Solvents and Anabolic Steroids and is more physically harmful than Cannabis and tobacco.

No relevance? Right one would think that an individual with ADHD would find this relevant. As for the supposed lack of a social life, the reason it took 4 days to respond is due to being out the entire time. Further, it is generally regarded that one who is unable to refute a valid argument (because of insufficient knowledge, intellect or a variety of other root causes) resorts in vitriol.

I would argue that due to the media obsession with the psuedo-ADHD kids (think ACA, TT, etc) that those cases are false positives, as it is clearly evident that the parents of those kids are incompetent and not necessarily the result of the condition of ADHD, but rather the result of a poor environment.

Whilst proper use of medication will not result in addiction, the misuse of the medication (or any substance or activity) can result in addiction or dependence.

Bravo!! I 2 have ADHD (severe).I wasn't diagnosed until the age of 37yrs. I have an IQ of 149 "the girl most likely to succeed". It wasn't until I was professionally diagnosed and put on Ritalin that my life PROFOUNDLY changed. My mother cried saying that for the first time she has her daughter back. I AM A RECOVERING DRUG ADDICT. B4 BEING DIAGNOSED, I KEPT RELAPSING AFTER 2 OR 4 YRS OF ABSTINENCE. Since being treated I am over 9 and a half years clean and sober.I plan 2 do a video on ADHD

Ummmm, It's the drugs that made you ADHD in the first place. So you had to take legal drugs in order to stop the illegal drug addiction. So you are saying the children with ADHD are on drugs. Actually, they are on caffeine and sugar. Control their diet and discipline them.
