hehe, med al respekt for dette spændende stykke arbejde, fristes jeg til at tro de dygtige piger engang har set mit gamle julestykke i grå hal, men det kan vel næppe passe.
men det er godt nok syret hvor mange aspekter der er til fælles.
Nightingale String Quartet was founded in 2007 by violinists Gunvor Sihm og Josefine Dalsgaard, violist Marie Louise Broholt Jensen, and cellist Louisa Schwab. All four are currently studying their masters at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen with professor Tim Frederiksen as their chamber music mentor and coach.
Nightingale String Quartet was awarded the Danish Radio P2 talent prize 2010 "for - with burning passion, irresistible zest, and contagious mutual responsiveness - making the classical string quartet flounder with life, so that the music speaks directly and strongly to the novel as well as the experienced listener".
Nightingale String Quartet has won prizes at several national as well as international chamber music competitions. In june of 2008 the quartet won 1st prize at the Royal Danish Academy of Music's scholarship chamber music competition. After having only played together for a year and a half, the quartet won 2nd prize at the Danish Radio's chamber music competition in February 2009. This started a long series of concerts in the chamber music societies all around Denmark.
In April 2010 Nightingale String Quartet was awarded 2nd prize at the international chamber music competition "Charles Hennen Concours" in Holland. As a result of this prize Nightingale String Quartet was exclusively invited to take part in the summer course "Orlando Festival" in Holland along with only 3 other prize winning quartets. At the festival they received dayly coachings from the legendary violinist Shmuel Ashkenasi and performed at several concerts around the area.
In the winter of 2010 Nightingale String Quartet began recording all of Rued Langgaard's string quartets for the danish record label DACAPO. The CD is expected to be release in december 2011.
During the last couple of years the quartet has travelled quite a bit: In april 2008 Nightingale String Quartet was invited to Shanghai, China to represent the Royal Danish Academy of Music at a ceremonial concert to symbolize the new collaboration with Shanghai's Conservatory of Music. In may 2010 the quartet travelled to China once again, this time to represent Denmark at the World Expo in Shanghai, and to perform at concerts in Beijing.
Nightingale String Quartet is often used to represent the Royal Danish Academy and has in this respect performed several times for the Danish Queen and the Danish Prince, most recently at Prince Henrik's yearly "castle concert" in the church of Fredensborg Castle where the entire royal family was present.
Besides from being taught by professor Tim Frederiksen, Nightingale String Quartet has received coachings from members of the Alban Berg Quartet, the Vermeer Quartet, Quatour Danel and the Danish String Quartet, they have taken part in Milan Vitek's course in the Czech Republic, Orlando Festival in Holland and they have had lessons with Lilia Schulz, György Kurtág, Vlad Bogdanas, Jensen Horn-Sin LAM and Roberto Díaz.
Nightingale String Quartet is deeply thankful for the support the quartet has been given from the Léonie Sonnings Music Foundation, Jacob Gades Scholarship, Augustinus Foundation, Margrethe Axelsen's Foundation, the Oticon Foundation, Denmarks National bank's Foundation of 1968, Carl Nielsen and Anne Marie Carl Nielsen's Foundation and Danish Musicians Society.
It's very nice to see a talented young classical Quartet riot aganst the pop-culture that eats away everything good i this world. We hope to hear more from you soon.. I admire your curage putting yourself and your dignity in jerpardy, i must say that you can be proud of what you have done. BRAVO!
Amazing work, I must say! This is really the first classical music video I have ever watched and I never saw the quartet play before. So beautiful played. Thanks for sharing this spectacular video.
I was so moved by this music I went out and purchased the score myself.

Haunting, disturbing and fascinating.
The music honors the video; and the video honors the music.
I can't stop watching and listening to this, being destabilized and captivated, again and again.
This is perfect; THIS IS ART

Nightingale String Quartet's name is inspired by the danish national author Hans Christian Andersen's story about the little nightingale.
