  • I was here, just right after the explosion, I was a 22 year old, then, and i was there walking with this poor guys, No jeepneys along the way, Not much availabale place to shop, Its like your money isnt worth it that time, Some people thought that time that, it was the end of days,-It was a depressing feeling to see great city fall with ashes, properties & cars, roads, built by sweat blood and tears, by our fathers just fall away in just snap-It was a horrible experiece to see such destruction.

  • Does anyone know Gary Dale in Air Force in Clark Base? Im looking for my father and my mother name is Josephine if that rings a bell to someone who was with my mom in those days.. And my father name is Gary dale, thats what my mom told me. 1984 to 1988 he was station around there but I know in 1987 he was there. I was born in1988

  • Nice video! Can't forget those days! we were actually there near clark..

  • If this was considered a normal natural disaster... like a hurrician for example, this would be considered a failure.

But for something like this... this is considered a success...

Its mind boogling and shows how powerful volcano can be.

  • Just Like My mom said, it looks like a huge cauli Flower! :))

  • This comments just made me burst out laughing so hard.

thanks for a great laugh, you peasant incompetent fool.

  • @dlone55 you're a total idiot. you must be on drugs. I guess the Typhoon that hit at the same time was the Americans fault to. Oxygen thief!

  • right, i also remember the "mushroom clouds" during the early eruption. at age six it was a wonder!

we even have pictures of our house resisting a gushing river (lahar).

  • I'd love to see a mushroom cloud from a Plinian type eruption (which mount Pinatubo's blast was), and I wouldn't doubt that seeing a huge ash cloud above a mountain is both wonderous and terrifying at the same time.

  • i know.. i remember that when i was a kid.. when i woke up my bmx bike is covered by the ash... hollie.... hirap kaya mag bike sa labas

  • If a VEI 6 or a VEI 5 volcano can cause severe damage like this, then I would hate to see what a VEI 7 or 8 eruption would do.

  • One of the most powerful VEI8s that we know of was that of the La Garita Caldera which ejected enough material to fill Lake Michigan.

  • wow sikat ang pinoy

  • I saw the ash piled up on the roads while I was there in 1999-2000. Now that the base has shut down, the Philippines is/ will become a breeding ground for Islamic Extremists. Too bad, because Philippines is a great country.

  • nyek lolz

  • Its brings back the memory. I was just 8yrs old when that event happen. Its was a feast of our patron i see my neighbors looking in the sky and i see a big mushroom clouds...

i did not bring clothes when go to the evacuation center. but all of my toys...hehehehe..

so sad that the US Bases discontinued its presence here in subic...

    everything changes after that event...

again thank you for posting this documentary...

  • Thank you for the posts. I also am a Pinatubo Survivor. My daughter was born that night, 0300, June 16, 1991, at Jungle General, and no, we did not name her "Ashley."

  • He wonders what he goes to now that is bigger

    Hmm.....Yellowstone??

  • These are events i will never forget being one of the last of the ash warriors. I was assigned to the 3RD LES Town Patrol. We helped on the evacuation route while everybody was trying to get away we had to make sure they went the right way. Some us never left the base we went back with the genral and volcano scientists to some underground bunker. So much ash came down with the typhoon hitting, it was just pouring down lava rocks and mudd.

  • when was this video made?

  • the video was made from around 1992

  • thanks for the info and for posting these videos.. i was now able to see my dad in action... thanks so much

  • I, too, was stationed at Clark (3rd SPS, "C" Flight) from Dec 82 to Apr 84. Seeing all this video and knowing personal accounts from SP's that were left behind as security force really puts into perspective. I have many fond memories of my time in the Philippines and hope to visit again some day. I hope there is still some kind of tour map that shows where different facilities were. Thanks for posting this!! C. Gustafson, SSgt, 3rd SPS

  • I was at Clark from 1964 thru 1965 and still miss it today. My heart goes out to all those who suffered through this experience.

  • . . . . (tear drops)

  • I was stationed at Clark at the time of the eruption. My family and I were just happy to escape with our lives. We miss our Philippino friends and want to visit again.

  • I watched all three episodes of this Mt. Pinatubo series. Thank you for posting it. We lived there for 4 years and left prior to the eruption. Seeing the base again and watching all of the Filipinos walking through the lahar made my heart heavy. I didn't realize the size of the eruption, nor the damage. I did know Clark was covered and back then even that made me sad.

  • My mother is Visayan and we still have a lot of family there. This also made me miss them more. I saved the series to my favorites. This is the first time I've seen the event and I'm going to share it with my family. Many blessings. Ann
