  • Addendum:

I do believe that I prefer the chords to this bridge.

  • Also:I must mention that the bridge to this tune, as presented in this film, is harmonically different than the bridge as musicians know it, most notably in the performance by John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman: Harmonically, it sounds as if it were written by James Taylor. This may be the second most-notable re-do of a tune by R&H: The first, of course would be "Blue Moon," which, originally, had completely different lyrics than the ones we know.

Craftspersons do it till they get it right.

  • Wow... I'm reading the comments that precede mine, and I am seriously digging the level of appreciation for this that's out here...

This gem of a film also stars Frank (the Wonderful Wizard) Morgan, who usually steals every scene he's in, in his movies... but not the scenes he shares with Jolson... Jolson is toe to toe with him in every scene they share, a testament to Joly's acting chops.

  • How TERRIFIC a time to THINK "real life MUSIC & SINGERS was like that~

too bad todays' dimension isnt anything like that.

Infact, there is NO MUSIC that comes half close to ROGERS & HART today,

n that's very sad to SING ABOUT!
