@parasys1337 Overclocking, theming, apllying custom roms, custom recovery images, activating bluetooth FTP, installing apps to SD(ok that's something an iphone doesn't need^^), and A LOT of system tweeking :)
This better not be the Android 2.0 or 2.1 update for the Sense UI. This is ugly as hell, the only part that looks better than the original Android Sense UI is the phone dialer. The rest of it is complete crap, I'm talking repulsive.
I will NOT update my Droid Eris to Android 2.0 or 2.1 if it looks like this. Even for Google Maps Navigation, I will not switch to this ugly piece of shit.
I said I have a Droid Eris, which is made by HTC. There are two phones that have "Droid" in the name, and the one I have has the HTC Sense UI just like the Hero.
User experience is what makes for wide acceptance. Android allows for far too much variation in the core user experience and thus users going from one device to another may experience something totally different. Apple's approach while more limited, is part of the reason for its success. The downsides to Apple's approach are well known, but the upside is a consistent user experience and a device that just works.
iPhone is limited in functionality in so many ways. Android though the UI is not as smooth represents what is possible with Mobile devices rather than Apple's conservative approach to limiting functionality in order to preserve the user experience. But the speed at which Android platform is evolving is much faster than iPhone. Problem with Android today is fragmentation, but Google is doing the right thing with the Nexus concept where hardware platform and OS updates are unified.
I'm not a "non-apple user", so I can't speak for such people. But as a matter of fact, it does a number of things the iphone 3g doesn't do. Including make calls :)
Seriously, Apple seems to have become complacent with its iPhone offering and unless the upcoming fourth gen iPhone release is really otherworldly, they will still be just keeping up with the pack.
Why must people constantly harp on about the iPhone? Its three years old FFS! Its had its day, Android is where its at these days. Sorry to make you cry Appletards.
Did you see what you just wrote? "No matter what other companies do, they will never reach where Apple is with the iPhone." So if they make a phone that is better in every technical aspect on a better network, then they still wouldn't have beat the iPhone? Sorry you see it as a status symbol.
The iPhone could never even get close to this with cydia. It's just a matter of time before the X10, Bravo, and Nexus One come out which are far better than the iPhone.

@PAPERCLlPS X10, Bravo and Nexus far better than the iPhone??? Did you use them?? Every EVERY Android release is announced as "iphone killer" but the true is that it is always very very very far from iPhone user experience. I own a Motorola Milestone, an HTC Hero and ive played with a Nexus for a few hours, none of them is as easy as the iphone. Sorry, but well need to wait a lot before Android can compete with an Iphone.
I'm actually doubting every last bit of what you just said. iPhone has to be the single most overrated piece of hardware ever. After owning one for about a year, I can easily say that I by far, prefer Android. Already from what I've seen from the X10, it has a superior OS Design, and definitely superior hardware.
As much as I hate Apple's iPhone mania..... I still see that all these wonderful 'different' interfaces require you to click once or twice to get to where you want to be, and in some cases wait up to a second or more for the application or content you requested to re-appear... this is simply not a good upgrade in my opinion!
This guy just doesn't know how to operate his phone. You can put any buttons from "Voice Search" to "Settings" on any of this phone's 7 homescreens and reach where ever you want to go in just one click. That's how I have mine set up anyways. Just wish it had a faster processor =)
its an unofficial ROM so its not at full speed/functionality untill HTC actually releases it. theres always bugs in ROMs you'd know if you ever tried one before.
It seems that this ROM has swedish localisation, does it also have Finnish? Im just curious, since at the moment there arent almost any localisations for applications or menu items in android.
Interesting, but weren't you both working on an AOSP rom? Or is it just AOSP based with all the HTC bits on top? =| Was hoping for a Vanilla rom, oh well. good work.

Whats about jailbreak on android? I mean, is it also possible to change everything, like on the iphone?
parasys1337 2 years ago
Yes, except it isn't against the rules on Android devices, so we don't call it "jailbreaking". We call it "rooting".

Well, wouldn't make sense if Apples OS wasn't consistent seeing as they only have one device.

So its basically an iPhone with more buttons using Cydia/Rock custom themes combined with SBM.
No matter what other companies do, they will never reach where Apple is with the iPhone and the other stuff they offer.
However this phone looks good and functional for non-Apple users.
