  • HOW HARD IS IT TO REPLACE A GARBAGEMAN?

  • I can not believe what this man said about city workers getting their job from relatives. What an ass.

  • look it up

    nydailynews.co

    m/blogs/dailypolitics/2011/06/nyc-investigators-no-blizzard-work-slowdown

  • @leroya1 Yeah, did you read the report. Not very convincing -- they "investigated" by asking union members if there was a slowdown, and shockingly, they said there wasn't. Now that is NY civil servant due diligence at its finest.

  • STFU! You know nothing jackass!

  • And nobody cares about you NYC watch, so you can suck it.

  • What bothers me is that with 30 inches of snow on the floor, instead of picking up a shovel and helping you're fellow man, you pick up a camera and video tape working men on their break and calling them lazy, nepotistic workers. If they are lazy...what does that make you?? I do agree with you with one thing...after 50+ days of not seeing my family and working 12+hrs a day,EVERYDAY, if somebody approached me and called me lazy, I WOULD put them in a coma...just on principle.

  • @bigsal31 Nobody cares what bothers you.

  • STFU! What do you know. I am a sanitation worker and I have NEVER been handed a god damn thing in my life. I earned everything I have on my own. The first 2 days of the storm i worked 14hr shifts. I didnt take any of my breaks, I pulled over to get a cup of coffee so i wouldn't fall asleep at the wheel but. I kept it moving. These guys are on lunch 11:30 to 12. Do you skip lunch at work?

  • ride the bus ride the train. that's what we do in our city when snow happens.

  • Well the people of NYC voted his sorry ass in... They deserve what they get.

  • Hey notice the guy is walking to sit down ,get real they just got there. It's lunch time 11.30 to 12.00 they are working the night shift

  • Well every state keeps cutting funding less money for equipment and less employees but want the same amount of work out of them. Cuts should start at the top and work down.

  • Time to make the OT...

I worked with NYC Transit for over 10 years. There are lazy government employees, and there are those who pick up the slack.

  • Totally disgusting. We taxpayers pay for astronomical sanitation workers' union benefits that includes hours long coffee breaks at Dunkin Donuts at the aftermath of a blizzard.

  • irishmaninnewyork , they have 5 hour lunch at this time they were cacht by a video camara.

  • Very nice job. I think more people have to utilize social media to do the job that the big news media companies refuse to do. Lets face it some of the higher ups in these media companies are paid or paid off by our government local and national. Keep up the good work, SUBSCRIBED!

  • Former city worker here. The OP got it right. Any city dwellers know this. I have no personal gripe but caught is caught. They aren't worried because as civil servants they are protected. They very likely received OT pay for doing absolutely nothing. And I promise you they are laughing about it.

  • In response to TheNYCWatch comment the only investigations currently in process are from the Queens and Brooklyn District Attorney' s Offices and the United States Attorney General Southern District and the Inspector General for the City of New York. The investigation is only based on the video that your outlet launched. after viewing this video several time at best it's fragmented through and through, showing very little unsubstantiated facts in a logical time line. As a professional observer

  • @brooklynsab1

I'll go slowly. DA = state, AG = fed, and don't forget the DOI = city. Well done.

They have the originals that are uncut. And I would think having "very little unsubstantiated facts" would be a good thing...? And another correction, they are investigating a lot more than just my video. For example, allegations of supervisors drinking on the job, driving around with raised plows, and of course the supervisors who came forward to Halloran.

  • Go to video NYC Blizzard Insanity, Ambulance stuck..... great residences....*idea* Instead of whipping out a camera, they whipped out shovels themselves.

If city workers can go up and over beyond for little pay, you as residences can help a little for free......It's ur city too.

  • All I know is The mayor Bloomberg's block was plowed in money making Manhatten. Maybe you should start ur camera show at his office. How do you know they just finished 4 blocks and went in for hot cup of joe, because it was freezing. How do you know they were not stuck. People in new york city love to abuse city workers. If you were so worried about NYC, why didn't u going in and ask them what was the problem, and how can you help..It is ur city too..complaining never gets anything done

  • So it was all uncovered at the hearing yesterday and evidence in right in front of you TheNYCWatch check out the history of the Deputy Mayor during his time in Indianapolis The fact speak for for itself.

  • @brooklynsab1

I was at the hearing. They didn't discuss this topic because they did not want to compromise the ongoing city, state, and federal investigations.

  • And no I'm not threatening you. Everyone is entitled to an opinion that's what makes the world go round. But YOU, deliberately handed in incriminating evidence without hearing both sides of the story. That's why i can assure you they're probably not going to get in trouble. Especially in a way that would satisfy you.

  • Shoveling is not inhuman. But you suggested it be done. Maybe shoveling the truck out but that was an immense amount of snow to shovel when you not sure if the truck will get stuck at the next corner. All I know is that you didn't ask them what they were there for and didn't want to know I assume, because it would have given you a valid reason they were there in the first place.

  • @unstable1981

Why is shoveling by hand inhuman? It's inhuman to let people die over your petty job action. These guys certainly don't get paid to sit in DD . If you would like to believe that three independent trucks got stuck at the sides of the road at the same intersection at the same time for 11 hours, that's your prerogative. To most members of the public who are not sanitation workers, that is a fantastical story.

  • @thenycwatch. I guess ignorance is bliss on your part. One side of the story is good enough for you huh. That's how the court system works. You compare 2 sides of a situation and you get your outcome.

  • all these busy-bodies taking these videos of late need to seriously get a life and know what its like to do a real physical labor job, and know the facts behind what they are taking video of.

  • @johnmax77

"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." - Edmund Burke

  • @ nycwatch. You didnt get your facts straight. You don't know about the dept. And you may have cost innocent workers their jobs or reputation for a quick 15 min of fame. Many many trucks were stuck during the storm. There were an inexcusable amount of people out driving that completely abandon their vehicles. So how can a street be plowed if there are so many people leaving their cars in the middle of the street? It does not get plowed. my block didn't get plowed either until day 2 and it was u

  • @unstable1981

There are no facts to get straight. There are two videos posted above showing 3 trucks parked after a snowstorm for 11 hours. Turn the sound off if you prefer, the trucks are still there. My guess is that this was news to the sanit department, or these people wouldn't be in trouble now. They should have been outside with shovels doing what they are paid to do.

  • @coolcat0901

I saw the same guys in DD 5 hours earlier. Listen, you can come up with some exculpatory theory for anything if you want to push the envelope. To me, the most plausible theory is the most obvious theory.

  • trust me .... look at the deputy mayor.... everyone in the DSNY knew this would happen because of the deputy mayor....

  • FIRE BLOOMBERG

  • The Mayor,Deputy Mayor and the(OEM) Commissioner failed to call a snow emergency is requested by (DSNY and (DOT). For the record there is a test given for the position of sanitation worker. relatives do not give out jobs as stated in the film check your fact before speaking.

  • I live outside of Chicago. I've been watching this story closely. For everyone affected, I feel sad that your city employees completely failed. Why in the world they did not call a snow emergency is beyond me????

I am glad the street department is being held accountable. No one should have died. It is absolutely unacceptable. No excuses.

Why are all 3 drivers taking their "breaks" at the same time? They could have staggered them.

I feel for you guys. Move here to Northern Illinois

  • @interboroughrapid

    Uneducated = incorrectly spelling words.

I will not view another youtube crackpot's analysis of a world gone wrong, thank you !

  • @interboroughrapid Typical Republican propaganda. If this investigation into the Union and Sanitation Department shows that there was no slow down then the Republican City councilman who claimed that he heard that it was an intentional slowdown should be locked up.

  • @interboroughrapid

I am not interested in arguing with you. All I did was record what I saw. Federal and state prosecutors can do the rest.

  • @TheNYCWatch Exactly...you only recorded what you saw. Funny thing is I know you do not know or understand anything about DSNY beyond the fact your taxes help fund them. News flash Sanitation workers pay taxes too. Why didn't you approach the workers and inquire as to why they were not plowing? I will tell you that you would have found out that apart from being truly stuck that on a 7pm to 7am shift break times are staggered the first beginning at 2330hrs(11:30pm).

  • @Alchemus81

The mayor reassigned two sanitation supervisors from south Brooklyn and installed 50 GPS units on trucks in Brooklyn. Draw your own conclusions. We'll just wait and see what the city, state, and federal authorities (all of whom thought this was worth looking into) have to say.

  • @TheNYCWatch The firing of the 2 Brooklyn South Borough Office supervisors has nothing to do with your little one sided home movie...I know for a fact the 50 gps do however. Because of your video you have jeopardised the jobs of 3 Sanitation workers that at that moment were doing what they were supposed to be doing. Oh and thanks for answering why you did not feel the need to ask them directly why they where there. The Post is hiring since one sided no fact checking story telling is your thing

  • @Alchemus81

If they were "doing what they were supposed to," they would not be in trouble, now would they? I am getting tired of this... I answered your question. See comments below. The nice thing about making videos like this is you make your own job description. I am not interested in confronting three sanitation workers who aren't doing their jobs. It's enough to catch them in the act and have someone else do the confronting.

  • @coolcat0901 Have a look at the video response taken 11 hours earlier. The numbers on the trucks are the same.

  • @cmacsud NOT FOR 11 F**KING HOURS

  • Thank you for doing a great job as a citizen. What an outrage. I hope you New Yorkers can get these guys fired and their supervisors fired immediately, with no fat pension to go along with it.

  • After supporting Unions for years, I've had it with them. With the crap they've pulled the past two years, we need to outlaw all government employee and autoworker unions. Kill the Unions!

  • Unions should not be for government employees. In fact, government employees should be put on notice. You work for us. We are pretty sick and tired of your crap. At the DMV, NY snow plowers, teachers unions with their out of control pensions. Politicians making 6 plus figures when military men and women are making barely over 22k. I think that every morning these pricks need to call in to see of us (The American tax payers) are still employing them. This union shit has got to go!

  • @thespokenfont In Chicago, we would plow all the snow on top of the abandoned cars!

  • bloomberg illegally demanded a 3rd term , he failed a long time ago with me.

  • @epiksonik Yeah and stupid New Yorkers could have voted him out...

  • I live walking distance from this location its unbelievable and unacceptable those workers should be fired today, however i believe from what i saw in my area that all snow plows that weren't plowing were truly stuck and even had front loaders trying to pull them out... the others didn't move because they have mistakenly damaged cars...

  • Hey guy 11:45 ok well rite there ur someone who should keep their mouth shut...that's smack dab in the middle of there lunch break...there was no slow down...the sanitation worker union can care less about the supervisors getting demoted the supv have their own union...so local 831 would not advise their workers to slow down at all...if anything they would be happy for the demotions it more power to them

  • I plowed for 14 hours the first night and I know first hand that there were several reasons for streets not getting cleared. The biggest was just how much snow fell all at once. Abandoned cars everywhere. Abandoned buses everywhere. I couldn't even properly plow because of the mess. I personally got out of my car and pushed 10 cars to free them and allow me to continue.

As far as a "job action"?? Never even crossed my mind. What a joke. Talk to Goldsmith, he ordered NO SALT. FOOL.

  • You know why my friends who live outside the city got plowed in time? Their snow removal is done by private companies.

GOVERNMENT UNION WORKERS ARE BABY KILLING CHILD MOLESTERS!

  • Unions killing people is part of being a union. Killing babies is just their thing.

Union thugs were happy that baby died.

Anyone who supports the union please HAVE YOURSELF STERILIZED immediately as you believe killing babies is okay.

  • QUestion for anyone sticking up for the union here/ Why do you like killing babies so much?

Every member of the union who participated in the slowdown is a worthless piece of trash and a baby killer. They need to go to jail after a beating and a raping.

  • All I hear is a bunch of jealous RATS!!! Unions built this country from the ground up. Its the Illegal Aliens who ruin it. So as us UNION workers put time into the system its the freebies this country gives out to Illegals which ruin it.

  • @bano7384

That's right, anyone who picks a fight with a union is a rat. Same old story. The unions, may have built this country once upon a time before the FLSA and other legislation, but they sure are doing a fine job of running NYC into the ground now.

  • @TheNYCWatch How about they do what they're paid to do???? Unions may have built the parts of the country and now they're driving it in to the ground.

  • @bano7384 You can not defend sitting in a coffee shop for 11 hours during an emergency. The work stoppage may be a union tactic but it hurts the people you serve. There has to be a line of decency that can not be crossed.

  • Watch the Taliban claim responsiblity for this :)

  • Hey- all you idiots who insisted on talking out of your arses and defended these MURDERERS: Did you read the article in the NY Post today? (Posted above in description.) How stupid do you feel now? Pretty stupid, I'm guessing. And please, DO read the article before continuing to talk out of your arse. I can't wait to see these criminals serve time.

  • Come on, everybody knows that you can't plow until you get an eleven hour coffee break - it's in the union contract.

  • dont know if it has been asked and dont want to wade through over 4 pages of replies but did you EVER go in and at least ASK these drivers what their reason for the situation was?

  • @conductorbill

No. I generally avoid asking government workers why they are not doing their jobs because I prefer solid rather than liquid foods.

  • @TheNYCWatch.... I understand you reasons why you wouldnt want to risk your health, on the other hand a couple other neighbors or even having the video camera in hand I myself would have at least stepped inside and asked if the crews will be returning to work soon as "I have to be to work in the morning and cant afford to miss any time"......... a polite inquiry may have at least gotten a reply from them. but in this day and age better to be safe then sorry.

  • @conductorbill

I actually had the opportunity to speak with a worker who was driving through from district 14 (I live in 11). He saw me shoveling and asked why the street was not clear. I asked him the same and he told me the city was not prepared in time. I even asked him what he thought of today's article accusing the union of slowing operations and he avoided eye contact and kinda shrugged.

  • @TheNYCWatch..... well I cant understand how he could say the city "was not prepared in time" when the weather forcasts called for that storm up to 2 days in advance that I remember. as for avoiding eye contact and shrugging at the question guess he doesnt want to lose his job for going against the union....... sounds to me like contract talks are about to boil over. might want to find a cheap snow blower!

  • @joelimandri1 Whatever! You act like you own the city and god forbid others have lived there once upon a time, like me. With your logic running things you'd be in even deeper trouble. Are you a union boss? It's called planning and management, with a cherry on top called hard work. You guys let the snow beat you down like fools, admit it. It's pretty easy to take care of snow if you know it's coming and work through it. The city failed the minute 3 inches or more accumulated on the roa

  • Comment removed

  • I am amazed at how many people find this so hard to believe. Why would you come to the defense of people who obviously could not care less about you? UNTIL NEW YORKERS WAKE UP AND CONTACT THEIR LOCAL POLITICIANS, NOTHING IS GOING TO CHANGE!

  • @TheNYCWatch Why? Because in essence you're a rat. You're not a real watchdog who takes the time to actually get the facts to know what was going on. did you go in & speak with them? Did you call or go to your areas Sanitation office to speak with the supervisor there? Did you have the tires & chains inspected for defects? Maybe everything you captured is exactly as you say. But what if it isn't? What then? You are playing judge & jury & even God aren't you? You didn't capture facts.

  • @sukie584

Listen, you are not going to drag me into your little flaming contests by hurling insults. I have every right to judge when I see workers sitting on their hands in a disaster, just as you have every right to suspend your judgment. If you don't like my freedoms, move to North Korea.

  • Meanwhile all the other "NYer's" (outside of NYC pay crazy high state taxes to fund bullcrap government management as demonstrated. NY = ripoff state. God bless you guys. I was born and raised there. Parents born and raised in Brooklyn. But moved out when I got smart. Move away and save money! Lol.

  • @pollypicturedltd well it's clear you don't have experience in this. Who said anything about pushing a car out with plow? Hook some chains up and pull. I think I freed 20 cars in a couple hours easy one night when a state of emergency was in effect. Idiots decide to try and drive the streets with 2 wheel drive. Many many stuck and blocking our work.

  • @FanOMule True, I have no experience as a driver! But plenty of experience, first growing up upstate, (skiers w/4 wheel drive) then as a New Yorker watching the city deal with blizzards. One year we seemed to get a blizzard every week, and we dealt with it (by "we," I mean "the Dept of Sanitation.")

I'm used to seeing salt trucks out there as the snowflakes are just beginning; this didn't happen. The first hours of a blizzard are vital, and Bloomberg screwed them up, resulting in chaos.

  • @joelimandri cry me a river. I worked downtown in a large western ny city. I've seen the situation many times. Try living in the lake effect snow belt where blizzards are common on large cities. Your snow removal attempts were pathetic, it's really quite obvious. How you try and defend the poor performance says alot about your motives. Where you the one eating the donuts?

  • Sorry, but this doesn't really prove anything, though your anger is certainly understandable. I worked for the Census this last year, and whenever Census workers gathered at Starbucks or Dunkin', whether to review paperwork or just to pee, some people always assumed they were shirking.

Obviously, huge mistakes were made, including, apparently, offering retirement packages to experienced workers, so rookies were suddenly faced with an impossible situation.

  • @pollypicturesltd Another problem was that the mayor should have declared a snow emergency much more quickly. Everything that was usually done in early hours before a blizzard was not: salt trucks usually start BEFORE the heavy snowfall; they didn't. People are usually warned to get their cars off the roads so that the main thoroughfares can be plowed; this time, they weren't. The people in that DD couldn't plow the streets you show in the video because of the cars in the way.

  • @pollypicturesltd OK, just saw the trucks in the same position 11 hours previously. NOT GOOD! The rest of my comment, I think, is still valid: rookie drivers, no snow emergency declared, more importantly, HUNDREDS of cars in the way of plows as a result.

  • @pollypicturesltd

Census workers, although important, are not responsible for babies dying if they don't do their job. Google "baby dies new york snowstorm".

  • @TheNYCWatch Oh, I am not defending anybody who shirked work, and I know all about that baby, as well as the woman whose mother died because ambulance workers couldn't get to her house.

But the question to ask is, why is this the first snowstorm that NY couldn't handle since '69? Why would the Dept of Sanitation, which did expert work four years ago, fall down on the job now? One apparent reason is the failure to declare a snow emergency in a timely manner leading to cars in the way of plows.

  • @pollypicturesltd

Agreed, that was a contributing factor. Also take a look at the post story about the sanitation workers organizing a slowdown. There were a lot of factors that combined to create this situation. I only hope they resolve things efore the next storm because this is incredulous.

  • nobody gives these guys credit for coming out and attempting to help. They blame them for everything. never knew it was illegal to take a break. n not for nothing i think alot more people inluding supervisors would of noticed them sitting there longer than called for. you people kill me with the crazyness

  • @nokia3750

Take a look at the link at the beginning of the video. 11 hours. And supervisors could not care less if they are in on it.

  • @nokia3750 Calling a supervisor would have done nothing except make their supervisor proud...as investigations have shown that their supervisors ordered them NOT TO WORK.

  • Comment removed

  • The only thing this video proves is that for the 3:33 you shot this some workers were getting a coffee. You have to be kidding me with this nonsense. Unless you have 4.5 hours of footage of these workers doing nothing, it's just your word against theirs. Give it a rest.

  • @itellthetruth5

Follow the link at the beginning of the vid. Otherwise, great point.

  • Good job. Keep that video the victims will need it for court. Let's hope the unions go down for this and are charged with manslaughter for starters.

  • This was filmed at 1145 they were on their lunch break. That would be 4 1/2 hours after the start of their shift (which is 7pm) should they just work 12 hours straight so u could drive around at 1145 in a snowstorm.

  • Typical Union nonsense. I worked in a union and this is exactly what far too many of my co-workers did. A union is no place for someone who has any kind of work ethic or the moral values required to actually work for your pay.

  • @oldmanklc don't believe you worked in a union at all. You just said that to add some legitimacy to the thought. Collective bargaining is one of the benefits of a union. W/O that you are left with the Co. making one deal w/you and a different one w/ another, could be better deal, could be worse. You'd have no way of knowing if you were the one getting beat. ONLY the business benefits and NOT the working man or woman. People abuse all systems incl. non union so argument is ridiculous.

  • The spinning Dunkin' Donuts sign is more active than the city workers! Ha!

  • This video doesn't prove the accusation because it's only 3:33 minutes long. If this story is true, then the DOS employees' actions are obviously egregious but I, the viewer, have no way of knowing that it's a fact. You say you are not on a personal vendetta against the DOS, but I, the viewer, have no way of knowing that that's a fact. I am sure you would agree that there possibly exists at least one person who might have a vendetta against the DOS...cont.

  • @eatingbagels

Already dealt with this issue -- see pane below video above.

  • cont. and since I don't know you, I don't know that said person is not you. You might have a great story with this video, but I don't know that for certain. That having been said, I do wonder how three 'plow-trucks' happened upon the same corner- stuck or not. Shouldn't they spread out a little bit? Cover more ground?

  • same guys who bang on the Bar about those Bankers !!!!!

  • DUNKIN DONUTS HAS ALWAYS FOUND WAYS TO ENTRAP CITY WORKERS IN THEIR PARKING LOTS, SO THE POOR PLOW DRIVERS ARE FORCED TO GO IN AND ENDURE FIVE HOURS OF SITTING. These guys are all chained up and not stuck to me. lololololol

  • Excuse me: why are you up taping people late at night?

  • @kevin0070

    >>>>>>>>>>"Excuse me: why are you up taping people late at night?"

Why the FUCKIN' hell do you care? Stop giving a shit about what he does and if he has a life or not! He's allowed to do what he wants without being questioned, you urine lickin' piece of junk!

  • @SuperCruiser72

Dude, wanna be my lawyer? You are hired.

  • To the nycwatch: don't you have a life? Why are you up taping people in the wee hours of the morning?

  • Respond to this video... Nobody got me my job at the Department of Sanitation I earned it. I work hard in the snow plowing for twelve hours with no day off. Then I must pick up twenty tuns of garbage under the snow after I clear the streets. My union emphasizes hard work. That's all I've been doing for the last twelve years with no gratitude.

  • @TheNYCWatch: I am a sanitation worker and I know and have been stuck in the snow behind two other vehicles in TANDEM. In my district alone in the course of an hour clearing the streets of snow there were ten trucks that needed rescue. And there is proof on that video. Look at one truck's middle tandem and you see black snow meaning the tires over heated trying to free it's self.

  • @Harlemworldboy

First, thank you for your efforts. We all appreciate the hard work you and many others do for us. I am sure you are not one of the Donut slackers. Second, even if they were stuck, that is not an excuse. Untold people died (and continue to die) due to the city's lack of response. Those men should have been out helping the public because that is what they are paid to do.

  • Dude wtf, you know those guys have probobly been working for 24 hours on end to help people that bitch like hell, you, to get rid of the 10 inch+ snow, so ya give them a 20 minute god damn break, alright? kthxbai

  • @greenguy249 Thats easy to say... unless you're the person stuck behind those trucks, or if you're the one that cant go to work, or if someone you know died because an ambulance couldnt get to them. If something like that ever happens to you, just give the people responsible for it a 20 minute god damn break, alright?

  • @greenguy249

60 hours and still no plows. This was 5 hours, not 20 minutes.

  • @TheNYCWatch Those trucks were not there at 730pm. The guys started their shift at 7 and to get from that garage to that area in the snow would take at least half an hour. That is, if they got out at 7pm on the dot. Which they definitely did not, they never do during snow emergencies. Routes must be handed out, trucks inspected and fueled, tools must be handed out, etc.

Unless you have proof of those trucks being there for the whole five hours you claim, you really shouldn't say such a thing.

  • @PaulEBotzBK14

My freedom of speech is not constrained by your perception of what I "really shouldn't say." That's what I saw, and I'm sticking to it.

  • @PaulEBotzBK14 It's cute how you know exactly what happened when you weren't THERE. Wait- were you one of those hard-working sanitation workers? I bet you were. Ooooh, I do NOT envy you!

  • This video does not show the whole picture. What is happening in this video is that these three NYC Sanitation trucks are stuck in the snow and awaiting a wreckor tow truck in order to pull them out. Other than siit in a truck that is stuck in the snow for 5 hours the workers got something to eat and hot coffee. How do I know I was there and there were to many disabled cars to enter the street in order to remove the trucks.

  • @patrkelly

I'd like to know how 3 independently operated trucks just happened to get stuck in front of a Dunkin Donuts. Is that just an absurd coincidence? Even if it was, it's totally unacceptable for city employees to just kick their feet up for 5 hours during a snow emergency. People are dying because ambulances are stuck! Those guys should have taken a 20 minute break and then gotten back to digging out cars, directing traffic, or hauling stretchers through the snow like the rest of us!

  • @TheNYCWatch well dont get me wrong i agree that the city did a horrible job cleaning up and its three days later and some are still stranded and streets are unplowed butt in this case one truck might have gotten stuck and the others might have come to that intersection to try and help pull the other out but lucky for them there was a dnd there but that could be the case...still the mayor had a major faill

  • @frankie122

They were parked on three opposite corners of the intersection.

  • @TheNYCWatch You were hauling stretchers through the snow, huh? Where is the video of that?

  • @PaulEBotzBK14

I know, this is youtube... where if you didn't tape it, it didn't happen. But yeah, that was one new thing I did in the past few days. Helped two medics and some other good Samaritans move a lady six blocks over ice and snow.

  • @PaulEBotzBK14 I hope you are being sarcastic. If not, my dear sir, you have made a complete ass of yourself. Although it is pretty valiant of you to defend your fellow sanitation workers.

  • @patrkelly That's BS, the one truck doesn't even look stuck. The others didn't show clear picture. Even if they are stuck being they are on FLAT GROUND a few minutes of shoveling is all that is needed to get unstuck. Been there and done that for many years but being a business owner I'm losing money and need to get the truck unstuck.

  • Comment removed

  • @patrkelly Please... I used to plow snow for a living in upstate NY. Wanna know how many cars I moved or towed out just to be nice (while on the job)? Hundreds. These guys could have moved those cars with thier trucks, or by digging and physically pushing. Myself and any guys I worked with would have done that in a second, just to get back to work. This situation should make it clear to you all that goverment sucks at doing most things better left to the private sector.

  • @FanOMule

We need more like you in Brooklyn!

  • @FanOMule So you're telling us that you could have moved thirty cars during your 12 hour shift? Or "pushed" them with your plow? Would you have liked being liable for a dozen lawsuits?

In 2006, NYC had a worse blizzard than this one, and, like all the previous blizzards since the 60's, handled it expertly. That was government working as it should. If anything, this shows that retaining experienced workers is important. Early retirement packages took out a lot of experienced workers.

  • @FanOMule where would you put the cars after you moved or towed them. this is nyc not upstate. whats the population of your town. the only reason this happened is becaude the trucks couldnt get down the streets because of abandoned cars in the middle of the road or they got stuck behind abandoned cars. everybody thinks they could do a better job sitting in their living room, no private company could do what this department does better.

  • @FanOMule Amen Amen Amen!!!!

  • @patrkelly Stuck my eye! Those trucks have tire chains on all 4 rear axles. They could climb trees with that set up.

  • I will be sharing this video on my posts and Facebook pages. Also sent it to Fox News (Megyn Kelly).

  • @bydesign001

    Thanks!

  • @bydesign001 oh save us Fox News

  • No doubt. It is laziness, and being a retired Union worker, and knowing exactly how lazy they are, I can say, without any quam or reservation, that those unions need to be replaced by people that actually earn their paycheck. Unions = Protection for the lazy

  • TheNYCWatch needs to become ITooOwnAShovel .. it's one thing to complain but quite another to make stuff up to prove your point...

  • @JGundy523 you are so right.. unless there is footage showing THENYCWATCH out there for 5 hours taping this.. then there is no 5 hour break! what a crock.. smh

  • @Icequeentt Are you by any chance an atheist?

  • Send this video to a news network... SMH

  • yeah, really no proof that they were there for 5 hours. I wouldn't be shocked if they were but it also could have been a short break during a long tour....

  • Thank you for sharing this footage. I am not far from there myself and know that Dunkin Donuts. I have shared your video (as well as the link for reporting snow removal) on my FaceBook page Abandoned by Bloomberg.

  • So this is why all the outer boros are buried? Union Job Action to embarrass Mayor Big Bucks. What a F'in joke, you know what, the illegal immigrants were harder working than the so-called "strongest" of NYC. I saw 1 plow truck going across 18th Ave. at 11PM on Sunday nite and has not seen one since. 2 years ago when that big blizzard hit, plows were up and down my little side street 3X a day. Now, too bad, job cuts means service cuts, but we are paying more in taxes.

  • well if there was actually proof that they were there 5 hours then maybe i could agree. but you and tons of other people must understand that these sanitation workers jobs are not easy. especially 14 hours. so if they werre on break for 30mins -2 hours then i understand. just becasue a job is hard doesent mean breaks arent deserved

  • What proof is there that they were there five hours? I can't imagine sitting in a DD for five hours. To take a legitimate break yes. You should have taped them five hours ago, otherwise it's just hearsay.

  • @walter1111graff Why would he have taped them five hours beforehand? At that point, it was the first time he saw them and he had no reason to assume they weren't on a (reasonably timed,) well-deserved break. The security tapes will reveal the truth, I have no doubt.

  • @EmmyL1 and thank you for quoting me with that "reasonably timed" phraze. :) I think we agree on one thing - innocent until PROVEN guilty. this video unfortunately is not a proof. We can't take the poster's word to the court (or disciplinary commission).

  • @EmmyL1 oh yeah, one more thing, my usually very trafficked street is still unplowed, my car is still buried. And I am not with NYDS.

  • i could be on brake hello

  • I was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt until you said "union workers" You gave your bent away right there. Most Union Workers bust their butts doing their jobs whether it's cops, firemen, sanitation workers or construction workers. they deserve being protected by the unions or they would be severely taken advantage of in this city. instead of wandering around the neighborhood & assuming laziness on their part how about you go home & get your shovel and help clean up your block

  • @sukie584

Yes, you are right. I have a vendetta with union workers and want nothing more than to stay home from work for three days and frame them. Believe what you want, YOU are the victim here.

  • @TheNYCWatch To be honest, the fact that you created a YouTube account specifically for posting these videos, coupled with your childish mocking of people who disagree with you definitely leads me to believe that you're biased against NYC government employees at the very least.

And for the record, I actually agree that the city mishandled this-- and, for that matter, that unions encourage laziness and hinder productivity, however, you definitely bring it to conspiracy-theorist levels.

  • @FarnhamJ07

Believe what you want -- see my comments in the drop down pain above.

  • The shaky video gave me a migrane.

  • 100% right i live by ditmas and east 9th, nothing is done!!!!!!

nothing!!!!!!!! still just ocean pkwy!!!!! are they ever planning on doing it

  • I know that I would not want to be picking up smelly garbage in 100 degree weather or shoveling out cornercaps and bus stops when its 3 below zero. I saw them pushing cars out of snowdrifts and shoveling people out of their parking spots. This is very hard to do from inside of a Dunkin' Donuts, don't cha think? How bout when they are crossing elderly people across the street or pushing handicapped persons onto the curb? It's time to wake up and appreciate the hardest working force in all of NYC

  • @tonypops1

I am not saying all sanitation workers are always lazy. I am saying that the higher ups, for some reason, were not enforcing the rules and that is why we are STILL KNEE DEEP IN SNOW 40 HOURS AFTER THE STORM. IMHO, the union was probably royally peeved at Bloomberg for firing 400 workers. And what better way to hurt a politician than to turn his constituents against him? This is an elaborate pissing contest, and New Yorkers are caught standing between the contenders.

  • this was in poor taste and the dunkin donuts does have a camera in it so the IG should look into this and they need better supervision in the future

  • @trick1us

No, taking a five hour break was in poor taste. People deserve to know the truth. I stayed home from my job for 2 days, and likely 3 come tomorrow because nothing is getting. FYI, someone is looking into it as we speak.

  • You have got to be kidding me. These guys have been busting their tails for the last three days and bust their tails consistently throughout the year. They do so much more than the FDNY or the PD for that matter. I live in Jackson Heights, Queens and am here to tell you that these guys have not stopped at all. I am sure that they would love to be sleigh riding with their kids at the park but they can't. They have to work overtime, for it is MANDATORY! You guys are the best and are appreciated !

  • @tonypops1

Listen, I have nothing against sanitation workers. In my experience, they are normally hard workers. But by the looks of things, a severely mismanaged group of individuals took advantage of a bad situation in this isolated case. Last night, I went out to help people who were stuck. At the very least, these men should have been out there doing the same thing.

  • i have to defend them a little bit. Its all juristiction. the sanitation legally cannot work without the plows going in first. They were there for the job, but the plow guys were fucking around not their fault...........
