Can I substitute the dairy milk with soy milk because I want to make some for my class. Some students are lactose intolerant. I am doing a presentation about Japan, and you are able to bring some kind of food from a country you're doing to score extra points.
@hahalolwth1 I've never tried it with soy milk. I guess you could experiment and let me know how it turns out. I would imagine that it wouldn't be exactly the same, but good enough. I know many recipes you are able to substitute soy for dairy milk and there usually isn't too much of a compromise in product. Let me know how it turns out if you do it. Maybe you should make 2 batches (one dairy, one soy)...b/c the dairy version is just so yummy!
@AhaTralala Is it rough/hard AFTER the 4 cycles of stirring (with 45 minutes in between each cycle) and overnight freezing?? If so, this is normal. You may have to thaw it out in the refrigerator for a couple of hours before eating it. If it is rough/hard before the freezing process? If so, this is NOT normal. You may need to better mix your ingredients and make sure to strain the mixture before freezing. Let me know if I this helps.
@pyhsiao Yeah AFTER the 4 cycles. I tried buying the ingredients and I even searched online. This morning I finally found matcha powered and I'm re-trying it. o: If it doesn't work again, I might need to ask you again .DX
@Dinopikachu To answer your question about adding the milk: After heating the milk, remove it from the heat. Yes, add a few spoonfuls of it (the milk that you just heated) to the green tea powder.
@Dinopikachu I wish I could help you with the title of the song. All I know is that I used a sound clip that was already available via iMovie (the software that I used to make the video). Sorry.
@pocowi Straining the mixture just helps to result in a smoother product. I guess it wouldn't drastically change your product if you skipped this step.
@AlexisPancake I put my stove at low-med setting when heating the milk. Ideally, the temperature should be ~170 degrees F, but I don't often take the temperature. Just be careful not to let it boil. Let me know if you have any more questions and how your ice cream turns out when you make it.
Yeah you have a bad quality camera
But other then that I liked it!

Do you know if there's any way to make it with actual green tea instead of the powder? Thanks :)
FrankyHorror 2 months ago
@FrankyHorror I don't know. I think you would get an entirely different product since green tea and green tea powder are so different.
pyhsiao 2 months ago
@FrankyHorror just evaporate (boil it until there are no more liquids) the freaking green tea and u'll get green tea 'powder'.

Can you make more videos?
leannemint 4 months ago
@leannemint maybe one day...any requests?
pyhsiao 4 months ago
@pyhsiao You should make a video on how to make frostings, find a new frosting for each week.
Choose like 7 or 8 different frostings and make them from scratch and show us your finished product. :)
I loved the video.

@greendayandponys it doesn't really taste like green tea at all....you should give it a try! it's very refreshing and not overly sweet ( :

You can try an Asian grocery store if you have one in your town. I know you can order in online too.

How long does the ice cream usually last?
thelidiots99 10 months ago
@thelidiots99 I wish I could tell you, but honestly, it doesn't last more than a day after I've made it. Plus, the
recipe doesn't make that much. It's just enough for about 4 people to have a bowl.
pyhsiao 10 months ago
Hm.. I can't seem to make it. >.<

@AhaTralala What happens when you make it? Maybe I can help you figure out what's happening.

oooh man, i want to try but where i can buy the greentea powder ?
Liberaltedjo 11 months ago
@Liberaltedjo you can find it in any Asian specialty market. And don't just take "green tea" and try to make your own powder. it's not the same.
pyhsiao 11 months ago
@pyhsiao im in Indonesia, in Bali, ahahah........ called matcha powder ya ?
Liberaltedjo 11 months ago
@Liberaltedjo Yes, I think another name is "matcha powder". Let me know if you make it and how it turns out.

@dinopikachu i've never tried with egg whites. i know most ice cream recipes only use the egg yolk. I guess you could give it a try.

Is there a reason it has to be strained?
Pocowi 1 year ago
@Pocowi smoothness? there's usually lumps in the custard (the yolk, milk, green team mixture)
