Just comparing the left hand positions & such it almost looks easier than DADGAD - all the videos of people playing this piece in DADGAD look extremely difficult (and I gave up trying to play it myself). It would definitely be interesting to see it notated or tab as played here.
Wolfgang, you know, I listened to this version of yours for some time now, and it is remarkable how you did this, realy superbe job. If you would not have mentioned it was in standard, nobody would have noticed, i am sure of that!
The essence of this piece is spot on, some people regard alt tunings as the holy grail, yet you have mastered this piece in standard and showed it can be done. As Mr Bensusan has said in the past, once you move away from first position and modal tunes, you cant tell your in dadgad anyway. Lovely work!!
Again, an incredible job on this tune. I sympathize with the tuning on the nylon strings, but I think you'd get a better representation of the bass around 2:00 if you were in DADGAD. I'd love to see how this sounds in DADGAD. Love your videos, and your playing. Cheers!
I've been learning this tune on and off for about four years, in DADGAD. I never thought I'd get to where I am on it (probably about a year away from near your standard!), and its been worth it. I can now goof around with bits of it, by changing the rythm/tempo. Your version is obviously very good. Why didnt you try DADGAD - is it because of nylon strings. Anyway, congratulations.
Great transposition to regular tuning. It lost little of the feel of the original which is quite remarkable, though there is a slightly different nuance to it in DADGAD. It seems to have slightly more resonance and depth in DADGAD but your version was great.
when i first saw the tab of this song, i had a thought that i should change the tuning of the song so that i can play easier than the origianl.... and you did it!! i do not know why you decide to play this song in standard but, nice work!
@1212surface
Yes , you are right !
But I don´t like to play in other tunings !(Because of reading notes)
Thanks,
wolfgang

Thanks for your kind words,
yes it is because of the nylonstrings, they loose their tune very easy. And I do not like to orientate myself new on the board!
cheers, wolfgang

It's hard to believe that this is one of the pieces that students are expected to know beforehand at his weeklong clinic.
