At the time they sang it I really did believe the best was yet to come. What went wrong - they should have been at least as big of Steps ? I love this track to bits. I love Scooch to bits. It was not to be. They do however leave a small but very memorable and enduring legacy behind them. BTW, hoow could you expect them to sing live while going through that rigorous - and brilliant - dance routine ? Great stuff girls and boys.
OMG i totally agree, all the stuff thats out in the charts at tho mo is the biggest load of crap......bring back the days of Scooch, STEPS and wicked POP! :o)
Me Three. I ended up listening to, hang on, Magic FM (I'm in London, not sure if Magic is nationwide) this morning and they were featuring a certain year. Within 10 secs of "Waiting For A Star to Fall" I was grinning madly, reminising and preparing to sing along at high volume.
Oh Dear, I seem to have turned into Brian Blessed!
Scooch kinda passed me by at the time but I enjoyed their Eurovision entry last year. I loved Steps and miss them so much - their cheesy music and colourful videos always cheered me up.
I'll put it straight: great song, great voice, great choreography, great band - keep on doing like that Scooch! greetings from polish dance music band - we wish you all the best ;-)
Yes, I love ALL of Scooch's material. But this song is just so good. I can listen to it over and over and never tire of it. Great choreography, great lyrics, great singing and great looking guys - the girls aren't bad either !
They could of won with this. I love this song so much feeling and a great melody. And people who say they are a rip off of steps and Abba. It is unfair as they are incredible singers and performers. Abba was influenced greatly by Swedish Folk music. In fact Benny travels around Sweden with his accordian playing the stuff. So give Scooch their due.
I managed to get the album through EBay from a vendor in Japan, where Scooch were huge. In this country it was called 'For Sure' (after the single) but abroad it was released as 'Welcome to the Planet Pop'. I love it. It is one of my most cherished albums - 'Flying the Flag for You' is by far their weakest song ever.
you should be able to order the album easy enough, it was re-released for the Euro-vision. Ebay is probably the place for Scooch singles and sometimes you can get signed stuff at great prices.
Sorry, can't agree about Eurovision. They didn't do badly because they were poor performers. Be fair, Elton John wouldn't have faired any better because it isn't about music its about which country you like!
I also don't agree about being has-beens. I for one love their music, it's fresh, honest and fun. Erm, much apologise for my earlier comments, was a bit drunk at the time although I do think we were robbed! Hope Scooch continue because we need them!!
Sadly you are right. with all these former soviet countries which have further been fragmented. scooch have no chance and they represent the fun a schlager should be. bring back panel voting it worked in the 60's or there abouts. eurovision is no fun any more you should watch melodifestivalen from sweden that is FUN.
nowadays, the band is still together, but they still have their own different careers around england. russ spencer is the presenter on "the big people's quiz" in the UK, and natalie is also the mother of a young child. ever since their massive flop on eurovision, they've lost a lot of respect and are now looked at as has-beens. which they are really.
i'm not sure if they'll get any more hits, seeing as the only countries where they have large fame are japan "No1 in the charts for months" and england, where their fme still lingers. they started off as a bubblegum dance group, became pop stars and finaly turned out to be like steps.
I am confused, because if they wanted a "new steps" then why is the old Top of the pops thing is on this video?? The Top Of The Pops logo is totally new logo now. Plus I looked on a website and scooch re-united to do Flag the flag for you for eurovision and they were formed in 1991 or summat like that and I think steps was formed in 1997. So they couldn't be a new "steps". I might be wrong but thats what I gathered. I think scooch and steps are both great but hey. Thats me!
Willtwinny's right. Scooch was formed on a talent contest thingy in the early 90's on a show called Live & Kicking. Steps came after Scooch. Besides, if this is a recent clip, The blonde guy either put on a lot of weight for Eurovision, or everyone will want an appointment with his dietision as he has lost several inches and chins over night. and tiger? Def a boob job there.
well, actually, scooch was originally put together in 1998, but they reamined very discrete. it wasn't until their first single "when my baby" was released in 1999 that they became now. they appeared on a few shows, including live and kicking, which pushed them a little further into stardom. they fell apart slowly between 2003 and 2006, performing solo albums and such, but they reunited properly for their appearance on eurovision 2007.
in Euorvision you haqve to be a man to be a woman! What a fucking robbing!!!!!!!!!! We deserved better............... All I can say wil the winner make number one in Japan? I am waiting..........
Wake up! Scooch are no way like Steps. Steps were a five piece band and Scooch are a four piece band and their music is no way like Steps'. Scooch had the talent. Steps didn't have any. The reason why Steps' were massive because saddos with no taste in music were buying their music. Such a shame Scooch didn't make it. Oh and before I forget Scooch ARE NOT common. Steps were. Just get a life.
Why is it that people labels keep putting these groups out there? There is no market for this kind of group anymore. Balls. I expect us to not win... again!
calm down donald, if people buy records there IS a market. Just because you might not like it doesn't mean others don't have a right to camp our tits off and enjoy ourselves. Music should and can be fun you know
Its not the same without their air stewardess costumes

All the female sigersd in steps and scooch are really good. And I don't know why solo careers didn't happen for them.
I hate all the steps and scooch bashing. REmember when 'H' was in Big Brother on BBL

Faye has done real well in the theatre. Have seen her a couple of times. She looks absolutely beautiful & still sings great.
Both her & Clare have had babies now.
But they'll all be back.... mark my words !!

Kylie4eva. Scooch were actually based on Steps. They had the same manager, who tried to basically create a "new" Steps.
I like Scooch. Not that bothered about Steps.. but if you can't see the similaritys between the 2 you need your head checking.
