  • OMG

  • its a really nie sword shame i wouldnt be able to get on into this country because i would have to pay like a thousand pounds to get it past customs :(

  • @yesimfromengland Don't let obstacles stop you.

  • @epicfantasy i dont have that type of money though

  • @yesimfromengland just another obstacle.

  • Congraz! It's a cheap Sword LOL!

  • I dont speak englis beri well but... this is a authentic japanese nihonto or an imitation

  • いいな~俺も欲しい

  • whatdya do for a living man thats expensive and AWESOME DUDE

  • @chocylate100 I am an entrepreneur :)

  • EVERYBODY KEEP PRESSING 8 RAPIDLY!!!

  • how much did your sword cost

  • Great story

  • really nice sword wish i had one to chop onions with.

  • just FYI that the round ball is not the moon as all dragon come with a fireball which they spit fire from, if u go on the tube to see the lion and dragon dance u see the dragon is chasing after the ball

  • I just got my first real samurai sword a few days ago and wow is it amazing, I sliced threw half gallon water jugs like there were made out of butter, at first I thought it was going to send the bottle flying with a small cut on it but it lopped the top clean off and it didn't move at all the jug

  • @magnum1165 nice! stay safe though :)

  • hey will, could you please tell me what the store was called

    thanks

  • @weaponlover666 Dunno the name. It's in Japanese. Its in Kyoto right near the castle.

  • Hey can you pm how much a good proper - made katana costs in Japan?

  • @TheCoffemaniac depends on a few things, probably 2-3 thousand minimum.

  • @TheCoffemaniac You're easily looking at $30,000 and up for a traditionally forged, authentic katana. Try looking at Hanwei or Bugei for authentic swords, a little cheaper but just as nice.

  • @epicfantasy thanks for the info, cool sword and videos

  • @jrewdown21 The seller of the sword will handle the customs and shipping for you. Have fun in Japan. It is a beautiful country. I would love to go back.

  • Comment removed

  • did they let you take it home on the plane

  • @jrewdown21 no, it had to be shipped

  • That is truly a piece of art. Absolutely beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

  • sir,may i ask..how much did you spend for this one?

  • Comment removed

  • Do they have a website for this store?

  • At what age do you think you can own a Katana?

  • It is not necessarily an iaito due to the length of the bohi, but if you look close enough at the kissaki, you can see that the yokote is fake. Therefore, iaito or mogito. Also the habaki seemed a bit small to me, which is common on mogito.

Either way... congrats on your sword that means something to you!

  • i dont fing any won will be bracking in any time sone

  • mogitou

  • I got an M4 lol I named it Zues... but I would very much like an authentic hand crafted Samurai sword like the one in this video I would love naming it

  • How much was it?? and good job in buying one from japan, the last true sword makers in the entire world!

  • gorgeous blade/scabbard.

but you should never fully draw the sword from its scabbard except for one of two reasons:

    1) cleaning and maintenance.

    2) to draw blood, your own, or that of an enemy.

If you draw the blade completely just to show it off, you are expected to inflict a shallow cut on your arm, and then clean the blade.

  • @BestraferEngel is that true? if it is that is creepy and weird

  • @BestraferEngel ....... Dont get your information about swords or culture from anime, please. Ive NEVER heard of this before except from extremely misinformed people or as a joke between people who actually know what theyre talking about. If you insist you are right, site your sources and we'll go from there.

  • @LotusDragon09 My sources.... probably from the novel Shogun (James Clavell) not an anime. The point is you are not meant to draw the blade unless you intend to use it. Swords are for killing, not showing off.

  • @BestraferEngel Thats a story book... Try reading purely non-fiction information books instead. What you said still doesnt make sense. As much as swords ARE weapons and designed for killing, they are still art in my eyes and in the eyes of many other people. Are you saying I cant draw my sword and hold it in a non-threatening way to show it to someone else? Ridiculous. Cant clean it, cant practice with it, cant simply look at its beauty...can only kill with it. Do you really believe this?

  • @LotusDragon09 Actually Clavell dd extensive research into the history and culture before writing.

And did you not read my first post entirely? to draw blood or to CLEAN...

regardless of how pretty it may be, it is still a deadly weapon, and that is all it is.

Taking it out to show off, is bad form, no matter how you slice it. (no pun intended)

after 'practicing' (who practices with live steel?) you would need to clean/oil it anyway.

You can display it without drawing it fully.

  • @BestraferEngel Well alright. I can see we both have strong differences in opinion and neither will budge. No sense trying to make them budge. I do know that even museums display swords unsheathed, so...well, there you go. But I respect your opinion too.

  • @LotusDragon09 yes.. they display them unsheathed on racks, behind glass. There is a purpose to that too, namely, to lessen the care and maintenance required, and also to properly display historical artifacts.

Swords left in thier scabard, even if properly cleaned and oiled for storage before hand tend to deteriorate over time, as moisture becomes trapped inside the scabbard, unless its in a strictly controlled environment (which is expensive and usually only used for books, to my knowledge.)

  • @LotusDragon09 and also.. by display, i meant the type of display we have been discussing, not the long term display, as in a museum.

drawing the blade halfway is quite sufficient to display the workmanship of the steel, and the hamon, and almost entirely eliminates the chance of and accident, as the blade is still restricted in motion by the sheath.

I still say a blade should only be unsheathed for care or use (or protected display) but you are correct that we both have our opinions.

  • @LotusDragon09 but hey.. while were citing sources, why dont you cite your sources proving me wrong...

  • @LotusDragon09 "The concept that a katana must draw blood before being sheathed comes from stories surrounding some of those bloodthirsty Muramasa blades."

    toyamaryu org/ Respect_for_Katana.htm

  • @BestraferEngel Now that makes sense. Not that its true, but thats what I was talking about when I said it was ridiculous. You dont have to kill someone when you draw your sword, thats pure fantasy BS. Those stories are where it comes from and some anime only encourages it. Im not sure what your stance is on this though as after giving me that quote, we seem to agree now all. My sources? Logic. Just think about things and sometime the really ludicrous stuff will become apparent.

  • @LotusDragon09 Again.. you do not have to draw it fully to display it... and pulling out a full sized 'real' sword (not the welded bolt display pieces) is EXACTLY like pulling out a loaded, cocked pistol, with the safety off to show off. Highly dangerous, and a jackass move.. it only take one slip, trip, or something startling whoever has the weapon to make it a bad scene.

I still feel that drawing it fully except to clean, or to draw blood (not necessarily kill) is bad juju.

  • lovely sword, but naughty naughty, you were supposed to cut yourself with it because you revealed the blade.

  • did you do a video on the sword cleaner?

  • @rogantu wow, I forgot all about this! I was supposed to do a sword cleaning vid! Thanks for the reminder. I probably won't do it now. But there are lots of good vids out there for sword cleaning already. Good to hear from you!

  • @epicfantasy lol, always nice to get respoes from you. it feels like ur my uncle or something :P

and yeah, even after watching your videos 10 times I still like to go back and watch them AGAIN!

  • "If you wanna buy a japan sword I recommend you go to Hasimoto".... well not all of us can just skip over to Japan dude.

  • @AdoreYouInAshXI lol, sorry

  • @epicfantasy Heh, it is a beautiful sword though... why can't you at least tell us how much it was?

  • @AdoreYouInAshXI it was over a thousand dollars US.

  • @epicfantasy I believe it. I've heard of authentic Japanese samurai swords going for upwards of around $20.000

  • @epicfantasy you know you got ripped off? Thats an Iaito. The way I can tell is because on the Iaito's the Bohi ( blood groove as most call it) doesnt go into the Habaki. This Iaito ( blunt edge....Blade is usually some kind of aluminum Alloy) would cost you in USD $600 at the most. Dont get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with an Iaito......but if you were looking for a Nihonto....it would cost you $5K at the least.

  • @KagaKiyomitsu so its a rule of nature that swords with hi must have it(they) run all the way through the habaki? and if the hi is forward the habaki than it is automatically an iato, non live blade, and aluminum alloy?...i dont mean to be rude or sound condescending...i have a blade that the hi starts forward the habaki...it is NOT iaito..it is fully sharpened, and NOT aluminum...5160 spring steel... so to me this sword looks just fine...also if you note the hamon it is authentic.not on aluminm

  • My balls hurt!

  • What a handsome sword!

  • 鞘を滑らせて抜いているところがなんかプロっぽいw

    鞘に収めるところは素人ぽいけどw

  • how much did it cost in japanese currency

  • are you going to do any videos with that samurai sword

  • how much did it cost?, in american dollers

  • @Rayz786 cant say, the IRS might be watching :)

  • @epicfantasy Seriously, you are afraid to say how much it was for some strange reason?

  • my father has that exact same sword he got it for $200 in ausralia

  • @xXBLuETigErXx1 ouch

  • this is truly a beautiful sword ^_^ well found ;)

  • wow great sword i am so angry i did not get to see a vision like the one you had lol,but i would like to know how much it cost because i was looking into getting a katana but dont know how much to spend?

  • @AURORAZ99 the money doesn't matter. The vision is what counts and it brought me to the right sword. It will come to you too when the time is right. maybe you are not ready yet,. Or maybe the right sword hasn't been made yet.

  • is that a hand forged sword and if so how much

  • nice looking sword!

  • That is a stunning sword. This is a true keeper. Enjoy it

  • To maintain japanese sword is difficult as well as clear sharp when he bought it

first time. The goods of cleaning and polish should be included in the package.

Please don't touch with hands without cloth or gloves! Sometimes he need professional sharpener to maintain Japanese sword.

  • holy ass are you trying to kill people with your samurai sword

  • That's a truly impressive sword you have there, congratulations on your purchase.

  • wow so beautiful man!!!!! where in japan is the shop,,, i travel to japan every other year is it in tokyo ? Kyoto ? if in tokyo what district ASAKUSA?

  • @del787b Its kyoto, not far from the castle, just a block away.

  • @epicfantasy you mean Nijo castle ? i was in Kyoto last oct . dam i should have lookes thanks for the info man and congrats man !!!!!

  • Nice sword! By the way, the dragon on the scabbard was a female one; you can tell from the tail, but that 's just minor detail.

  • What is it with you and dragons? :D

  • that is real or just deco?

  • Nice. I bet that sword was around $800.00 maybe.

  • Y is there no sound

  • how much

  • How much did it cost you us dollars not yangs please tell me

  • I was just watching part 1 then tried to find part 2 of this video and it no longer exists.... What the fuck?

  • Now that's a beauty!

  • U where the chosen one to free this world of evil. I bet doctor eggman is around, lets kick his but.

  • Now that looks like a work of art. :D You should make a follow up video showing the finer details of the blade. Possibly even test cutting?

  • Regardless of cost, the sword spoke to you, you were prepared to pay the asking price and got a thing of beauty. I suspect you would have paid more if you had needed to. Thanks for posting.

  • @s10m0t10n thanks for this, you get it :) The money meant nothing, the price was irrelevant. The sword called me and I answered.

  • waste of money

  • @zederish it's called a collector he enjoys them why should comment well its your opinion so I respect but I also collect them.

  • @wasa50 why don't u give half of the money to people who are in need to make other people happy as well. there are people in africa or saudi arabia which only 2 dollar can keep them a live for long time, longer than when u get ur sword and u r happy of it.

  • @zederish well mate that doesn't seem to be the point.

  • @wasa50 no, thats the main point

  • @zederish Surely if you're that concerned about poverty abroad, you merely stumbled onto a video on youtube about a guy looking for a samurai sword, and only by happy chance did you have enough free time to compose and submit a comment in between your ceaseless charity and NGO-related work.

    That *is* what happened, right?

  • @Saavykaas no that's not what happening. but again spending that much for a useless large knife to me is stupid. go pay 8000 dollars on ebay for (fake)ancient dildo, is ur life is ur money, u can even burn ur money to warm ur house up or u could buy wood with that money and burn the wood

  • I don't want to seem like a "know it all" person. But i find it hard to believe that that sword is a handcrafted sword from a real swordsmith. I have read that only as many as 12 real Katana are made in Japan each year, and before they are even completed, they are spoken for and the usual cost is 15-25000 $. Now, im not saying your Katana isn't forged, but if you bought it for 1000$, i doubt its forged by a real swordsmith. I apologize if i am incorrect.

  • @Dreez76 You are incorrect, although only slightly. It is true that Japan has a limit on swords made from ferrous material, but the restriction you cite is per smith (one per month, so smiths sometimes make iaito to pay the bills). The price of a japanese sword depends on a huge number of factors; materials used, process used, the smith making it, fittings, style of the blade, etc.

Was his sword likely one of the best? No, but $1000 is about right for an average production katana.

  • Your sooo lucky I'm only 12 but I promised myself I WILL get a sword p.s how much was the sword ?

  • @Jordan21030987654321 You are capable of doing anything that you set your mind to.

  • your whole trip your story and your sword was friggin AWESOME congratz that sword is a real looker

  • @pandamarihuana Thanks! That whole experience of traveling to Japan and allowing the sword to find me was really something special. I just went on a very interesting experience to Egypt. Should check out my vids if you haven't.

  • they pack well !

  • How do we know If that a real samurai sword and not a cheap one ?

  • He bought it in JAPAN. In a SWORD SHOP.

and see the edge? that can only be achieved through clay forming.

I kinda forgot the name of the edge. :L oh well. :D

  • @Leontheon Hamon line? Its a quenching technique that uses clay.

  • Thank you good sir! That was exactly what I meant, although I didn't know the name...

  • you should really take a course or read in sword handling, especially if its so expensive. you obviously don't have a clue.

  • @guardaltec you should really take a course on social behavior, you obviously don't have a clue... just saying

  • Hi, I don't mean to be rude, but how much did your sword cost to buy? I'm looking into buying one and was wondering what the prices are for genuine katana's

  • @MrIGrowDank quite ok. The prices can vary quite a bit. I paid over 1,000 for this one. Typical prices can run 3k.

  • @epicfantasy Thank you

  • @epicfantasy do they still make swords to order

  • @MrIGrowDank

I heard on Japanese TV that the medium level of sward cost around $8000.

  • Thanks. That sword you bought is a real Japanese sword made in the tradition including Tamahagane? They sell to any foreign? How much would one of these sword?Less than U$10k can find one of these?

  • Hi bud.Whats the city in Japan that you bought the sword? Can you give to me the url of Mr. Hashimoto? Please!!

  • @daicon76 kyoto is the city and mr hashimoto is japan-sword dok kom

  • One very important point to recall when buying a sword is that no one should buy any sword anywhere. Your not buying a pair of jeans that any size fits anybody. The sword has to be measure at your body measures and also a spiritual ritual must be made. A cutting instrument like that could be possessed by evil. Be aware of thing like that don't want to wake up one day not knowing what happened.

  • it is real nice :( me want

  • this happened to me when i was twelve.but my mom wouldn't let me get one so i was sad.it was really cool with a dragon.i still don't have one :(

  • Definitely a sword enthusiast, but it hurt me to watch someone handle a sword so clumsily. You're better than a lot of people I know, but it...It was painful, bro. It hurt.

  • great choice God Bless. may u find the Princess in the Castle, AFTER SLAYING THE DRAGON!!!! lol :-)

  • how much did it cost

  • Hey did they let you through with the sword the people that have you know safety checks and checks for cigarettes ?

  • @UnwashedGoblin I couldn't take it with me. There is a long permit process. I had to get the permit process taken care of then have it shipped to me. took about six weeks.

  • @epicfantasy Oh yeah a similar thing happened to me, but I didn't bother to get it shipped to me I just left it as it was. And thank You for a quick reply Your videos are golden I wonder how can people actally do such a horrible act of well .. disliking Your video or even hatin' on them I guess jealousy

even though I can get katanas delivered to my house for 35 dollars to 200 dollars :)

  • @rogantu The whole experience was wonderful. And Japan is an amazing place.

  • @epicfantasy btw since you have a cam would you mind making a video of your katana? it was absolutely beautiful and I would love to see details and close shots/focusing of the blade and edges, the dragon and specially the handle :D

  • @rogantu I have an unboxing video somewhere on my channel. Shows the sword really nice. Can't remember the title of the video. doh!

  • weres part 2
