The range of this aria is not higher then the tenor range :) So Pavarotti could sing it using his chest voice :) Cencic ofcourse too without head voice, so at that example reconstructing of castrati voice is not such difficoult...
@Erikk91 I know that, but you still wrote it wrong. Even changing the U with the V you'd read "risvieglati" which is wrong. It comes from the verb "risvegliarsi". The title of the aria is "Generoso risvegliati".
@Alicantino1976 You are correct -- this is all Derek Lee Ragin. He performs the entire part of Poro in Cleofide on the complete album (at a slightly slower tempo). No morphing needed here.
This sounds like 100% Ragin. Was Godlewska's voice mixed into this too? Anyway, I positively adore this aria. I don't care if it wasn't sung by the real Farinelli, I still think they made a good move of including this wonder into the soundtrack.
no you are right this is only ragin! Some pieces were sung by one singer also in the soundtrack.... the one with large tessitura has the mix voice work ...
yes in those tome the 90's he was the first operatic counter tenor , with more lirycal voice, low notes and so one. Now there is some great one also , but ragin will stay unic and a reference for everyone i think!
This aria has nothing to do with Farinelli ! it was not inculded in the movie, obviosuly because it has never been sung by farinelli, it is from Poro, opera by Hasse and was sung by the castrat Annibali.
@shushak2 The character is named Poro, but Hasse's opera is Cleofide. And Annibali actually sang Alessandro, not Poro who was interpreted by Campioli (a lower, old contralto).
This is one of my fav. arias ever.... It sounds beautiful, but I can tell, It´s soooo damn hard to sing. I took my almost 6 months to sing it perfectly....
And saddly it was the worst of times in human history, disseases like the bubonic plague brought forth by the incessant wars of the european monarchies, famines and on top of all that the inquisition in spain and italy. But I guess overall people live more intensilly and romantic than they do today, I guess when you don't know if today is going to be your last day, you do that
Sadly, every era of history, including prior to the age of castrati and also today, has some aspects that are terrible. That is one reason that I am attracted to beauty, including beautiful voices and music, as an antidote to the far-too-prevalent horors of the word. Also, more people in the 17th-19th centuries enjoyed fine music because of a different culture and fewer distractions than we have today.
Well like I said since life one could argue was harder in those times...I believe people tended to live more intensily and therefore the Era had a more romantic and idealistic flavor to it making it more beautiful in comparison to our oversimplistic times of today, yet when one goes to europe and travels around palces like germany, italy and france you see that this culture of times pass has not completly disappear

This is Derek 100%, absolutely NO doubt. They didn't need to mix anything for this one, because it was in the ideal range for Derek! I am sure!

Just a little mistake... the title of the aria should be "Generoso risvegliati", but I agree, it's beautiful. Thanks for posting.

@Flaviat57 In ancient literature, the "v" often is substitued with the "u".

A voz de Farinelli é uma montagem utilizando as vozes do contratenor Derek Lee Ragin e da soprana Ewa Godslewa e depois mixadas.

100% Derek. Haven't you seen the making off?

Thanks. Just as I thought. Only the most beautiful countertenor voice ever. No wonder he was chosen to be the voice of Farinelli. :)

Just one comment.. i don't know anything about opera, however i LOVE the movie, and this is my favorite song, so it is 100% included in the movie.

Yea actually it was in the movie, only a thirty six second part though.
