unless kobe, lebron, durant etc can average 41 points a game, dominate like crazy, and still keep his teammates very much involved in a finals series, i will NEVER put them in the same sentence as....you know who.
Jordan was flammable in 93 even at the age of 30 still killing dudes with insane quickness...... if he hadn't left in his prime he would of averaged 30 at least until he was 35 which means.......he might of had the most points in nba history surpassing kareem Abdul jabbar
Jordan's big hands are his biggest physical advantage over Kobe, aside from higher vertical leap. Those huge mitts let him do some nice stuff with the ball Kobe simply can't do.
I feel sorry for Malone, Stocken, Barkley, Ewing, Miller, etc because MJ and the Bulls were responsible for them not winning a championship ring with their respective teams.
I love the look of frustration on the phoenix suns' faces. They thought they would easily beat the Bulls that year and were in shock when MJ and co took it to them.
Uh, what about the Pacers who took them to 7 games and led in the 4'th quarter? The 96 Jazz? Didn't they lose a game by like, 56 points or something??? ;0
Well Reggie Miller is somewhat light, but I wouldnt call him white and Chris Mullin guarded Kobe off the bench in the 2000 finals when Bryant averaged 13 points and 3.8 assists per game and shot 36.7% against Miller and Mullin back in the no zone days.
lol, must be nice to have no hand checking and no getting hit when you go to the rim.
BTW, there were zones. Its call match up. BTW, theres no zones today. When you have defensive 3 seconds its not a 'zone' anymore cuz your bigs have to move out of position.
Whatever. 1. there were zones. a match up zone does not break illegal defense rules. 2. still double and triple teams. 3. Any zone where the 5 has to leave the key every 3 seconds is not a zone AT ALL. The Jordan Rules were made to stop MJ, everyone copied them, they made rules in 2001 and 2004 to kill the Jordan Rules. No zones, such crap.
Man, anybody who doubts MJ being the greatest needs to watch this clip. There has never been anyone with this much controlled intensity, this whole series he played in a furore of aggression but still made it look so easy. This is Jordan at his absolute peak; not a single player in NBA history before or since could have beaten him at this point. The talent, intelligence, variety of moves, skill, speed, hang time, strength, improvisation, and brutal determination is staggering.
No one has ever finished with their left better than Jordan. Only guys even close are TMac and Kobe. Bird had an insane left too, but not really on crazy finishes, more with touch on floaters and stuff.
What player today makes layups with his left hand like Mike did! He did what he wanted when he wanted out on the court. That's why he is the greatest. The fact he could take over a game on call and single handedly change the outcome by sheer force of will. No player in history has that ability.

At this point in time Jordan Is the best player to have played but that doesn't mean nobody can surpass what Jordan has done. Jordan's style was unique but his success CAN be duplicated.
You people make me sick. You are so in love with Jordan that if any player from here on ever had a better career then you wouldn't even notice. You give nobody else a chance to be great always putting down people like Kobe and LeBron for trying. You can't measure any basketball players career by championships because it is a team achievement. If that was the case then Bill Russell would be the greatest ever.
kobe would. but don't act like jordan played cupcake 2 guards his entire career. the series b4 this, john starks who would be the equivelant of bruce bowen today. the year b4 this in the finals, clyde drexler. don't downplay kj either. he was small, but a great pg. just like chris paul is now.
Sorry, but this 41.0 ppg finals "record" that MJ fans brag about, doesn't compare to Hakeem vs. Shaq in '95, or West and Baylor vs. the dynasty Celtics in a losing cause.
Of course you can clearly see it. But that doesnt mean he actually pushed him with any force to make Russell fall down. If I put my hand on you and you already have momentum that doesn't mean i pushed you! Of course there was a slight push but nothing even worth calling a foul for. But most people who hate on MJ these days have been brought up to watch the shit league we have today called the NBA where the refs and commissioner control the play on the court and not the players.
On that :26 sec bump Barkley gave MJ, if it was KB he would've yelled "HEYYYYYYYYYYY" and get the and1. The difference in the rules and in players mentality is what makes MJ the greatest and KB just another great player..
He still looked a little raw - all natural ability. His 2nd trifecta displayed MJ totally evolved. But I ain't gonna hate on his 1st trifecta....loved the nba on nbc.
Amazing stuff, I just dont get how MJ has a move and counter to every single thing that happens. Double teams, triple teams, mismatches, anything. The guy must have played 2on1 and 3on1 at practice pretty consistantly, its the only way I see anyone possibly getting that good. Also kudos to the refs for not calling a foul everytime he took it to the lane like they do for so many nba stars today...
The level of complete game Charles had between 1988 and 1994 has never been seen by another powerforward. And he played alone! No other powerforward was better than Chuck when fit, period!
Don't know if this has been said yet, but the move/shot MJ makes starting at about 1:10 is the same move/shot he beats the Jazz with in Game 6 of '98 Finals.
JOrdan didnt pass the ball one time this whole highlight. But to everybody hes sco called "unslefish". When kobe shoots the ball the haters say hes selfish. MAn look at this shit! MJ aint even thinking about passing. MJ and KOBE are great players who shoot the ball because NO oNE can stop them
man this game still breaks my heart i was like 7 and when they lost i just broke down in tears how the hell did ainge leave paxson open it hurt worse back then cus the suns was all we had no dbacks no coyotes nothing just the suns and the cards sucked even worse
To all those niggas that say kobe shoot too much, why dont yall say the same thing about jordan? Jordan shot the ball a whole fucking lot! yeah MJ the best but kobe right there with him
Shanebarrow: Mike shot 50+% during the playoffs and during his scoring titles. In 93, he shot 49.5%. In 95, he shot 49.5%. In 97 to 97, it was 47-48%. The fact is that his lowest is way higher than Kobe's average.

Not trying to hate, I'll never dispute that he was the greatest ever, but these clips also show why Michael was known for the greatest ref treatment ever - you can see on several of these drives, he starts with a stutter-step travel (a la Dwayne Wade) before he dribbles.
dumb fuck stefanswe,do you think a 35 year old jordan was in his prime at that age bitch he was no where near what he was when he won his first championship bitch and yeah he still won three rings shows that he better than all these current pieces of shit in the nba moron bitch
that layup at 54: seconds in is an example of the power this dude played with, motherfuckers always want to say lebron is stronger at the basket than him, well right there he got bumped and still put up an incredible shot.don't ever forget how strong jordan was

It's nice to see other posters who also are aware of the phases/evolution of MJ's game as well. 1993 was the year of MJ's "physical" decline. That's what the kids who compare Kobe's game to MJ seem to be totally clueless about. Kobe has tried to copy MJ's game circa '95-'98, but that's not mike at his best, he just happened to STILL be better than everyone else. MJ circa '87-'92,that's "Air Jordan" THAT's THE DIFFERENCE. You can really see the difference in his quickness between this era of his game and the 2nd coming. What other player in sports has ever come back 2-3 times in their career and each time reinvented their game! That's why he is the greatest of all time by far!
