The swing to the notes is gives it this lilting tone. Its so playful. Its almost like its taunting us to get up and dance to our heart's desire. Unlike hip hop which makes me feel like I'm going to throw up.
The harp sounds like a tall lumbering intimidating guy. The violin is a delicate little girl whose dancing and the harp and violin dance with each other. The harp's attitude towards the violin is so gentle even if the notes are deep and sound like the footsteps of a lumberjack.
My school has a year long after school class dedicated to playing songs like this from memory at special events near our city and at our school concerts. :]
I'm a spanish 18 years old girl and I listen to tecno and rap but sometimes I like looking for other kinds of music and I've found this song and I love it :) I wish someday I could go to Ireland because I find its culture very interesting and I want to learn more about it. I'm from a region in Spain (Galicia) with celtic roots and our music and mithology has similarities with Irish.
yesh, the music of my people, go irish go, ime proud to be a member of my clan and the emerald isle, also ime a descended of some pretty hardcore celtic warriorsXD
All my my friends think this music is gay, i am 13 and i hang out with alot of native people and like gangster and im the only white boy that they hang out with and shit but this is some amazing shit...
Thanks for your comment. I do love this piece myself....my son, Declan and Patsy met on their first year at Strathclyde University in Glasgow. They have made quite a lot of music together.
I'm Italian, English, and German, but Scottish and Irish traditions, peoples, and landscapes have always enchated me. Never met a Scot or an Irishperson i didnt like, and thats a fact!
idk why everyones saying why there proud of there heritage but, im proud of my founding fathers of the United states of America and my English, irish, and Scottish ancestors. im absolutely in love with all these heritages history.:)
I am very proud of my heritage. I was born in Northern England and I found out my father's side of the family has been part of Northern England for over a thousand years. We were part of the anglo saxons...I know we were evil bastards back then. But you something, it does not matter where you are from, just be proud of your heritage!!!
This is so beautiful. I started an Irish dance class in January. Its so amazing. I'm an adult beginner. I am starting hard shoe very soon. I can't wait.
It's kinda hard to be proud of your heritage when your country is just something like 200 years old. Irish people have 3000 years old roots in their land.
I suppose that most of the european people are proud of their heritage:
Italy --> Romans
French --> Medieval Age with Cavalry and stuff and then Frenh Revo
True, I mean I'm Irish and Welsh but I lived in England and I'm proud to be a Pom, but prouder to be a Celt.
Though, with the ups of an old heratige, there are the downs.
England --> The Kings
Germany --> Hitler
France --> Britain has always bagged them out about never standing up for their country
You get the gist.
But I think, that for what it's worth, people should be proud of their heratige regardless. Even Australians, though most are decended from English convicts. But you know.
I'm Australian and I don't really know who my ancestors were, while I'm not particularly proud of why my ancestors may have come to this country, I am proud of what we've become.
really beautifully and originaly played! is this played in a certain style? perhaps its just the way the harp comes in all the time on triplet beats , but it sounds lovely anyway - great work
