My computer does something similar. I have kinect connected as well as a microphone from another video camera and when I leave the computer it will eventually idle and wait for a sound to activate again. Once it hears sound it'll wait a minute for someone to walk in front of the sensorbar. If it recognizes that it's me, it'll login with my creds or resume. If it's my gf it will do the same for her. It's nothing special but at least kinect does something since there's no good games yet :P
