The weirdest thing is that I met someone named Larry Short up in Washington state who would have been the same age as this kid, only it was in 1978. Common name, I'm sure, but the same age. Weird.
This type of tv game show..where adults had to figuire out the weird things kids do..was revived briefly on ABC TV as"The Baby Game"in the 1960's or the 1970's.
Larry, what happened to the Bell and Hower Movie Projector you received from Art? Was it eventually donated to World Vision, to be used in remote ares where they did not have TVs and VCRs, but still used movie projectors and white walls as projection screens? I am glad to hear that you put the $50 war bond to such good use, using it for paying tuition at Biola College, such a wonderful Christian School.
Larry, I am so glad that you kept that movie so you could post it on You Tube after all these years. I was born in 1956, and although I never got to be on Art's show, I remember watching and enjoyinging it. May God bless you for all the work you did [and are still doing?] around the world for World Vision!
Actually, this was from Art's prime-time NBC game show, "THE ART LINKLETTER SHOW", on Mondays at 9:30pm(et) during the first half of 1963 [from the same producer of his "PEOPLE ARE FUNNY" series, John Guedel], which featured "hidden camera" situations, in which Art's panelists (in this edition, Carl Reiner, Jayne Meadows [Mrs. Steve Allen] and Sebastian Cabot) had to guess the outcome.
@fromthesidelines Don't you think that the guy who actually posted this video and was actually there would know the show he was on? My bet is that he's right.
greenishman7 - I enrolled at Biola College (now University) in 1975 and used it for my first tuition payment. I think it had grown to about $350 by then. :D

Pretty good story. If you look at the little boy's face when the man asks him to run an errand, you can tell he's just thinking HELL NO!

Hilarious how he looks at the Tucan. He's like 0_0 That bird is huge. The bird looks pretty big even to me. A tucan has a long ass beak.

Larry, do you remember anything, even vaguely, of these experiences, either in the pet shop or the time on stage with Mr. Linkletter?

There were two editions of "LIFE WITH LINKLETTER", 'drink'- a prime-time edition on ABC from 1950 through '52, and an NBC daytime version in 1970.

Great memory for you, Larry. I really liked Art Linkletter, he always showed respect for the kids and I (a kid myself) understood that.

I have heard stories that Sabastion Cabot was the most meanest monster off camera, heard he hated Jonny Whitaker and Jody Foster on Family Affair.

Way cool, so what happened with that $50 bond?

You are a very fine boy, Larrence. I love the way that the man pushed you back in camera range.
