I salute and bow to Honorable Bob Marley and Goddess Rita Marley for giving birth to the Mighty warrior Divine Marley children. I would have loved to given birth to the Marley children.
isnt it a strange that bob always sang about peace but now jamaica has one of the highest death ratings in the western hemisphere. people should really listen to what this man is saying. To me bob doesnt represent smoking green but peace and love. Its always nice 2 light one up and listen 2 this man speak the truth though.
"we dont no trouble what we need is LOVE" thats the message i get out of this song.. no wars ,troubles , just all humans love each other :P that would be a beautiful place to live

H.I.M. Haile Selassie I Speech to the United Nations (excerpt)
New York City, NY October 4, 1963
"...until the philosophy which holds one race superior and another inferior is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned: That until there are no longer first-class and second class citizens of any nation; That until the color of a man's skin is of no more significance than the color of his eyes; (cont)
the words are from a speech given by Emperor Haile Selassie at the United Nations in October of 1963. I believe it is one of the most powerful speeches ever made.
Until the philosophy which hold one race superior And another Inferior Is finally And permanently Discredited And abandoned - Everywhere is war - Me say war. That until there no longer First class and second class citizens of any nation Until the colour of a man's skin Is of no more significance than the colour of his eyes - Me say war.
@mahmoud98003 I follow you, but don't concur your interpretation of the song "War" lyrics. Assuming your argument is that war is the final resolve, unless all societies fail to meet, commit or to embrace equality, justice and freedoms of all citizens collectively. This song yells out revolution, rightful anger against immorality, demands it with words of wisdom and divine intervention. "We African shall fight if we find it necessary and we shall win, because we our confident into victory...
@mahmoud98003 Bob meant it metaphorically, because this is only resolve or solution, which is going to war. Word "war" is thought provoking or a strong political stance, so it served it's purpose. Would seem strange or awkward if he chose other worlds, like wisdom, marijuana or ganja, even Jah over and over again, wouldn't it :)? Love the usage of the word "war", because it later in the song he concludes it with the words, "What we need is *(LOVE)." Bob's music is completely undeniable genius.
Perhaps you´ll find this concert under WDR Rockpalast, Dortmund, Germany 1980. I recorded it on VHS many years ago. The japanese double-CD I bought has a bad (no bass) sound-quality.
i agree,i think this was his best performance and the sound was awesome ! I'm hoping they'd actually play this whole concert in movie theaters then release it on DVD.
the lyrics were actually a speach written by haile salasie, its about why theirs war and how it will never stop unless we get past all this petty nonsense.godbless, and jah lives children jah lives!
EZEORION: Not Wrong, please read my post well before saying that I am wrong. if you notice, I said " you would think that this song was made for Isreal" but I did not say for fact it was made for isreal.. How about retaken some ESL classes? may be it will help you understand what you read.
You would think that this song was made specially for Isreal. Isreal must understand that there will always be WAR if basic human rights is not guranteed to all Arabs.

sorry to be picky but they're Haile Selassie's words actually - from a speech delivered to the UN :-)
However, I totally agree with the rest of what you say - this is not a call to arms!

@mahmoud98003
Like Bob's interpretation better, because when H.I.M gave that speech to the UN nobody in the whole world didn't care help Ethiopia from fascists.
At least when Bob Marley sings it, and then whole planet listens to the teaching of JAH.
