@GiulioMa when your doing the ex walldive just keep your stick in a neutral position then when he jumps off the wall press right/left (depending on which side your on) once then press punch it should work.

I love Vega. like gaarauchiba said, it depends on how much time you take to learn him. I spent about 40 hours learning to play him, and I haven't got around to learning anyone else (save ibuki, but i need a LOT of work with her), because he's so fun to use. You don't always win, but if you read your opponent well enough and don't get too predictable, Vega is a great character.

Removing your mask increases your damage out put. You also get hurt easier thou. Removing your claw is stupid. Decreases your reach and damage. Maybe they put it in if you go to take off your mask and didn't have enough super bars so it's punishment?? Thts my guess.

I never even fathomed trying Vega's ultra after a focus stun. Turns out I can do it and you have a lot of leeway when doing it. My dummy was practically laying on the ground when I did the ultra and it still landed.

Vega has one of the worst supers in the game, and the sad thing is he has two options from it (Izuna Drop or the even harder to connect Claw combo.) Rolling Crystal Flash & Scarlet Terror seem nerfed to me. At least EX Sky High Claw and EX Izuna aren't too bad.
Lets hope SUPER street fighter 4 evened things out in terms of fighters. Sure Im willing to deal with his fragile mental narcisstic state in order to have his speed but it should be much more superior than the rest of the cast. Im not the best Vega/claw user but I dont respect any body who refuses to not fight as Ken/Ryu maybe akuma maybe ? Sagat Cammy Chun Li Zangief. 90% of the people that choose those players fight the same way. Adon Dee jay & Vega are my main guys.

Just try a few characters you think are interesting and like there movesets. Then learn the combos of that char in training mode, play as many matches and try new tactis.
SF4 is a really balanced game, vega is low tier, but you can win against everybody, you just have to play a little better and smarter than your opponent.

With real challenge i dont mean high tier players in a online match. The problem with a online match is, that many people havent even the experience to fight against a claw player. Best expample for this is that many online players have a big issue to fight a blanka player, but in tournaments he is almost useless.
I wont to say that low tier chars are bad.. I mean Cammy can be crazy if u know how to play her.
But u see, that the blanka player havent any good chances or did he ? .. i didnt saw any chance. It isnt common that blanka Players get into the Finals. Ya, he was really good, but when u know how to play against blanka, what most of the online players doesnt know, then it is hard for Blanka to win. Almost every first or second Final consist of one Ryu/Ken Player, which isnt a coincidence.
I know Justin Wong, but he is a really good player. His first word was "Street Fighter", when he was born ;). I mean he played every single Game of SF.

At the beginning i said , iam not against low tier Chars. Iam playing Fei Long at myself. But it is a fact that your chances are lower with these low tier chars.
I know that there are really amazing players. But how i said at the beginning, dont expect to be as good as these amazing players with low tier chars and to be little better and smarter is easier to say than to do. To get to the top players with a low tier char is a very very hard way to go.
All in all, Vega is decent. He does sacrifice stamina and strength but in return he gets one of the best mix-ups and cross-ups in SF which makes up for it BIG TIME (I manage to beat Shotos without much sweat and Sagat too who dishes out CRAZY damage. I wont lie, it is hard though). It comes down to how FAST/DEDICATED you WANT/ARE to learn SF. If you don't mind spending A LOT of time with Vega than go for it, but if you want to use someone more beginner friendly than go with someone else.
I disagree, his mixup game is not that good and very little cross-ups ability (with exeption for FBA, but thats not working on good players), most characters have way better options.
He has some nice, easy and hit-confirm-able combos, great mindgames and some really great normals.
Vega also has many nice cross-ups which help A LOT and his mix-ups off the walls are insane. If you use it to its full potential, you can play a BEAST mind game (that's what I love most about him). It'll be easier also to beat other scrubs being that they may not know off the bat that his ultra and his ex sky high claw can go threw projectiles such as Ryu's and Co. hadokens. His backslash flips can also help get you out of sticky situation and you can bait Shotos to do wake up DPs to than punish
CONTINUED FROM LAST COMMENT! I myself main Vega. At first it will seem like he's the worst character in the game (in some ways he can be), but stick with him. Also his Ultra is arguably the hardest to pull of in SF history (it took me about two months :) The great thing about this is that once you master it, EVERYTHING else in the game will seem like child's play (except for the PRO Moves such as FACD'n into Ryu's Ultra and Kara throws), but even those are less intimidating once you master Vega.
There are many unknown variables when determining who you should play with. In Vegas case, he does happen to output small damage and inputs a lot. It's advised that you should be somewhere near an intermediate player to fully grasp Vegas talents in combat. But there's a good side to this. If you want to master SF sooner than pick him. The reason I say this is because you'll be forced to learn the main combat system inside out, as this is where Vega can shine (as seen in the vid) 2 B CONTINUED
The only thing is with Vega's combos, its funny he should pick Ryu as his target. Alot of his combos can be interrupted and severly punished by a simple wake up shoryuken, or in balrogs case buffalo head butt.
His super doesn't do alot of damage but when you need to finish someone off, his Super, people don't know how to block it. They just press back and you can easily graqb them
People dont know how to block it because they dont. They either dodge or knock Vega out off the air if they know what they are doing. You can see his super and comming a mile away and thats why he is ranked so low.
IMO his super isn't useless sure his EX moves are better in some way but if you manage to get to the super(all 4 bars) then you should use it because most of the time the other player doesnt know how to dodge it and it still does enough damage
The risk is losing your whole bar and losing a lot of combo possibilities. DF HK, EX wall, Izuna does about as much as the special only using one special. It is a good mix-up in casuals but in ranked stuff it's not favored.
His ex move = his blood life . The super don't do much dmg and Vega without any ex move during a match make him only gimper(He's already enough gimpy )
Plus his super it's actually very easy to counter and you Can't COMBO IT.
I can's stand how slow his medium rolling claw is. Light is fast, strong is slow, but medium is slow as well. Kinda sucks like how Ryu's medium hurricane kick does all three kicks, which makes it just a slightly shorter version of hard kick. Rather have him do two kicks and not all three for measure.
i have just bought this game and im trying to clear the trials with vega... but i am having SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much trouble doing the "rolling izuna drop", i can do the normal version of the move, but i cant initiate the special, or i dont really know how :/ anyone help?

On a forum I frequented, there was a very detailed list of methods to counter Blanka's 46p, Honda's 46p and Zangief's ppp/kkk AFTER blocking, some require a gauge, some don't, helped me alot..
Im suprised vega doesnt have some longer combos.. I know in the other street fighter games his speed was downright scary , So it would only make sense he has goood combos....

The command list only says up/forward, but you can aim it in either direction. Guiles is done the same way, but his don't change. You can pretty much charge down/forward, then just do a half circle in an angle. Not that bullshit zig-zag crap.
PS comboing Guile's flash kick into the super is hard, but possible and easier with the joystick than the d-pad (assuming anybody uses the d-pad). Charge dwn/bk and do up/frwd+K, dwn/bk, up/frwd+K.
I can't prove it because I don't use them online, if that's what you're asking for. But the half circle thing can be found in neorussell,com as a technique he mentions.
no i meant if you could post a video of you making the motions and showing us the screen so we know its possible, because i tryed many times and it just doesnt work that way, im thinking your using the 360 controler that really doesnt read the imputs correctly which result into the ultra, this doesnt happen whit the ps3 controler.
I just cannot do any move which requires a charge after a comic heel. I guess I'm not charging it long enough but I don't see how there's time.

Nothing against low tier chars... some of them i love too... for example Fei Long.
But dont expect to become the best, when u are training hard with low tier chars.

Very few people are playing blanka in tourneys cause the chance is to small to win the tourney with blanka.
Cammy is actually between low and mid tier and only good players can make trouble with her.

when we was talking specifically about Vega being a low tier in tourneys still being able to win
Cammy is a console only char. most tourneys are played only with the arcade version.
Also have you ever thought in yo head that Blanka beaten other Ryu's and Ken''s to get to Daigo in the finals... >_>
And another thing all of these recent tourneys are like 3v3 there hardly singles

I know Justin Wong, but he is a really good player. His first word was "Street Fighter", when he was born ;). I mean he played every single Game of SF.
Ya i said, dont expect to be the best with low tier chars, because in some ways it looks easier, when good players are showing you how to.
With "but in a real challenge u will not win with low tier chars" iam in some facts wrong sure, but these facts are limited.

And i don't like how just trying to make it seem so impossible.
And you need to learn that it's not the Char. it's the Player that counts
and all players have the potential to be just as good as the pro Jap and US players there will always be new better low/ med tier char. players.

since you don't think you'll be able to win with your Fei-long and so confident in the High tier success rate then i think you should pick a new main then

Rufus or/and Ryu. Actually Fei Long isnt my Main, but he is one of my Chars i play often.
But i dont like Ryu so more for Rufus.

He isnt my main. But there are chars i can play better and with which i have more experience than with Fei Long.
If u want i can tell you my whole story about SF 4 , but this would be unnecessary. So trust me, that Fei Long isnt my Main.

I use vega 2 and tier is nothing i owen online ryus and sagats and there not bad its just iv learned how 2 use him

At the beginning i said , iam not against low tier Chars. Iam playing Fei Long at myself. But it is a fact that your chances are lower with these low tier chars.
I know that there are really amazing players. But how i said at the beginning, dont expect to be as good as these amazing players with low tier chars and to be little better and smarter is easier to say than to do. To get to the top players with a low tier char is a very very hard way to go.

All in all, Vega is decent. He does sacrifice stamina and strength but in return he gets one of the best mix-ups and cross-ups in SF which makes up for it BIG TIME (I manage to beat Shotos without much sweat and Sagat too who dishes out CRAZY damage. I wont lie, it is hard though). It comes down to how FAST/DEDICATED you WANT/ARE to learn SF. If you don't mind spending A LOT of time with Vega than go for it, but if you want to use someone more beginner friendly than go with someone else.

I disagree, his mixup game is not that good and very little cross-ups ability (with exeption for FBA, but thats not working on good players), most characters have way better options.
He has some nice, easy and hit-confirm-able combos, great mindgames and some really great normals.

Vega also has many nice cross-ups which help A LOT and his mix-ups off the walls are insane. If you use it to its full potential, you can play a BEAST mind game (that's what I love most about him). It'll be easier also to beat other scrubs being that they may not know off the bat that his ultra and his ex sky high claw can go threw projectiles such as Ryu's and Co. hadokens. His backslash flips can also help get you out of sticky situation and you can bait Shotos to do wake up DPs to than punish

CONTINUED FROM LAST COMMENT! I myself main Vega. At first it will seem like he's the worst character in the game (in some ways he can be), but stick with him. Also his Ultra is arguably the hardest to pull of in SF history (it took me about two months :) The great thing about this is that once you master it, EVERYTHING else in the game will seem like child's play (except for the PRO Moves such as FACD'n into Ryu's Ultra and Kara throws), but even those are less intimidating once you master Vega.

There are many unknown variables when determining who you should play with. In Vegas case, he does happen to output small damage and inputs a lot. It's advised that you should be somewhere near an intermediate player to fully grasp Vegas talents in combat. But there's a good side to this. If you want to master SF sooner than pick him. The reason I say this is because you'll be forced to learn the main combat system inside out, as this is where Vega can shine (as seen in the vid) 2 B CONTINUED

The only thing is with Vega's combos, its funny he should pick Ryu as his target. Alot of his combos can be interrupted and severly punished by a simple wake up shoryuken, or in balrogs case buffalo head butt.

His super doesn't do alot of damage but when you need to finish someone off, his Super, people don't know how to block it. They just press back and you can easily graqb them

People dont know how to block it because they dont. They either dodge or knock Vega out off the air if they know what they are doing. You can see his super and comming a mile away and thats why he is ranked so low.

Simply incredible...there is just a few things missing for projectile counters....Vega's EX Rolling Crystal Flash goes through them as well.
Awesome video though...good for the Vega users.
In my opinion he is the toughest to use because it is all about timing and being quick thinking.

IMO his super isn't useless sure his EX moves are better in some way but if you manage to get to the super(all 4 bars) then you should use it because most of the time the other player doesnt know how to dodge it and it still does enough damage

The risk is losing your whole bar and losing a lot of combo possibilities. DF HK, EX wall, Izuna does about as much as the special only using one special. It is a good mix-up in casuals but in ranked stuff it's not favored.

His ex move = his blood life . The super don't do much dmg and Vega without any ex move during a match make him only gimper(He's already enough gimpy )
Plus his super it's actually very easy to counter and you Can't COMBO IT.

I can's stand how slow his medium rolling claw is. Light is fast, strong is slow, but medium is slow as well. Kinda sucks like how Ryu's medium hurricane kick does all three kicks, which makes it just a slightly shorter version of hard kick. Rather have him do two kicks and not all three for measure.

i have just bought this game and im trying to clear the trials with vega... but i am having SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much trouble doing the "rolling izuna drop", i can do the normal version of the move, but i cant initiate the special, or i dont really know how :/ anyone help?

kay....never knew you can guard cancel the second hit of guile's 2HK.....
oh btw, you can land a ex28kk AFTER blocking Honda's 46p, sure hit, same goes for Blanka's 46p.
Hate those Hondas and Blankas......
On a forum I frequented, there was a very detailed list of methods to counter Blanka's 46p, Honda's 46p and Zangief's ppp/kkk AFTER blocking, some require a gauge, some don't, helped me alot..

Im suprised vega doesnt have some longer combos.. I know in the other street fighter games his speed was downright scary , So it would only make sense he has goood combos....
Maybe he's just like fei long.. he has longer combos.. but theyre fucking awkard and useless...
Anyway the vid was cool.. and some of vegas combos look really nice. must be fun pwning people with him.. They never see it coming haha

The command list only says up/forward, but you can aim it in either direction. Guiles is done the same way, but his don't change. You can pretty much charge down/forward, then just do a half circle in an angle. Not that bullshit zig-zag crap.
PS comboing Guile's flash kick into the super is hard, but possible and easier with the joystick than the d-pad (assuming anybody uses the d-pad). Charge dwn/bk and do up/frwd+K, dwn/bk, up/frwd+K.

no i meant if you could post a video of you making the motions and showing us the screen so we know its possible, because i tryed many times and it just doesnt work that way, im thinking your using the 360 controler that really doesnt read the imputs correctly which result into the ultra, this doesnt happen whit the ps3 controler.

You charge down/back, then go from down/forward to up/back. Kinda like Cammy and Fei Long's angels hcf motions, but backwards.

Just start charging db immediatly after pressing HK, the f+HK für the ST must be done very late, need some timing and practise but easy enough.

the character has to be in the air, it's an anti-air counter, like it said in the tutorial at 3 minutes and 16 seconds in.
