  • @witzig89 I have always believed...or rather possessed knowledge that people who become offended at actions they themselves have previously performed are acting like a dick. I refer you to your comment to timegirl777. Am I now free to believe, based on your argument, that you are a person whom cannot articulate ideas logically? In addition, I have no patience for anyone splitting semantic hairs on an issue whose meaning is generally taken as obvious by the general public.

  • Suck it Tiny Tim! And tell Crachet to get back to work!

  • I held it in until Tiny Tim fell over. Then many lols were had.

  • @KayEnDub Reading your comment, at first I thought you meant the singer who played the ukulele while singing in falsetto, then I watched the video and noticed him at the end XD

  • LOLOLOLOLOL greatest Christmas advertisement

  • Take this for what it is: we can all get along no matter our beliefs but most importantly we can all get a camera phone for $20 less :D

  • XD

  • Agnostic/Atheist flame wars. You guys are cute.

  • Written by WEEN.

  • This is the greatest thing Virgin Mobile has done and will ever do. Why don't they run this commercial every holiday season? It's timeless!

  • @ShamankingZuty They could not keep up with all the law suits from the people who had their ear bleed listening to this.

  • I personally add a -dan at the end in the place of the -ka, so I can add Ramadan to it.

  • they forgot to include the celebration of Anti-life

  • @TediI47 Why do you think Tiny Tim is dead now?

  • is agnostisism a religion?

  • @homeschooledman not really a religion but a way to describe their beliefs

  • @TrollingDr Agnostic has nothing to do with belief.

Gnost comes from Gnostikos, greek for knowledge. Agnostic means you claim to "not know."

Regarding religion Theism and Atheism deal with beliefs, while Gnosticism and Agnosticism deal with knowledge.

  • @witzig89 really guy do i or anybody else care, by "claiming to not know" as you put it you are in turn explaining your beliefs by saying that they dont know you mean that you have gotten no evidence either way and cannot form a set of beliefs meaning you do not have any so by saying you are agnostic you are saying that you have not formed any beliefs either way and your beliefs are nonexistent and by putting an adjective to your beliefs you are describing them

  • @TrollingDr You could use some punctuation in your text there, it's hard to comprehend when everything is crammed together. When you call yourself "agnostic" you are not describing your beliefs; "I don't know" is not an answer to BELIEF. By saying you are agnostic in regards to religion just means you don't know whether a god exists as the jury is not in yet. It is not a statement of belief but of knowledge, or lack thereof. Do you not understand the distinction between belief and knowledge?

  • @witzig89 i could care less about punctuation on youtube, i do understand the distinction between the two but knowledge leads one to form a belief so by saying that you have no knowledge about if either are true you are in turn saying that you have no beliefs and thus describing them, there is no way to talk about anything relating to religion without describing your beliefs first and when you say that you cant lean either way you are describing your beliefs you must have misunderstood my op

  • @TrollingDr It's a shame you don't see the importance of punctuation when articulating ideas in a discussion, regardless of the medium used. Unfortunately that is false; a term that describes "no belief in god" is atheist. Agnostic means 'without knowledge' and can be applied to a greater range of subjects than just religion. If knowledge led to belief, all agnostics would become atheists because in that description "I don't know" is equivalent to "I don't believe" - which is not the case.

  • @witzig89 if you are looking for someone who cares about punctuation and wanted to have a real debate over something as unimportant as the definition of words than youtube is not the place for you and by calling someone agnostic it is implied that you are referring to religion and not using the word in the literal sense and you cannot believe if you do not know anything about the subject, you cannot form a belief on something you do not know about, im sick of arguing about

  • something that you are too closed minded to understand, you are set on trying to convince me that you are correct without looking at the point i am trying to get across, good day to you, have fun in your little box

  • @TrollingDr In a discussion about theistic beliefs, agnostic is implied to be in regards to god, not religion. Obviously nobody knows a god exists, but we all have the ability to test specific claims made for god. If someone says 'pray and you will be answered' and nobody answers you when you pray, then you can lean in a particular direction; just as well if a god is made up to be omnipotent or omnibenevolent, but is described as fickle, hasty, and irrational. Taking these into account can lead

  • one to become an "Agnostic Atheist" defined as one who does not believe a specific god exists, but does not claim certainty. There are ways we can gain reasonable insight into specific properties of gods, which in turn will affect our beliefs regarding that god and ones that share properties with it.

But you've clearly taken this all very personally and resorted to attacking my character. It's called ad hominem and is usually employed by those who can't articulate their ideas logically.

  • finally, for the first time i see mention of Muslims on a commercial! Thank You Allah!

  • Haha! This is rather unsettling... Particularly Tiny Tim DYING at the end. And the monotone, slightly off-key singing... And the Scientologist is wearing nothing but a giant phone... and the point of the holidays being a camera-phone sale...

  • man been looking for this commercial for a long time now glad to finally have found it

  • ROFLMAO

  • wow. nothing with ANY amount of religion in it can resist devolving into an argument over which one is right.

  • @biologicalhorror1991 no your wrong, the auugment here is over why atheist wasn't mention.not which one was right, serious atheist isn't even an religion you guys start debates completely out of contexts.

  • @fireysoul25 i guess i misspoke. what i meant to say was that any amount of religion will start all sorts of controversy.

  • @biologicalhorror1991 the same can be said about almost anything . it really depents on the people you talk to . for some people religion isn't even a problem.

  • @fireysoul25 even if most people are fine with it, you'll always find the person who just has to tell youhow your worldview is wrong.

  • @biologicalhorror1991 this happens to almost everyone include myself. if had nickel of everytime someone tells me my view on the world is wrong or backward. i just use their criticism to reevaluate my veiws on the world and on life.it ultimately imake me a better person ,so times even strengthen my beliefs. it's nothing to get bend out of shape over. a world were everyone has the same opinions on everything is a boring world.

  • Legendary

  • Wasn't this song written by Ween?

  • I'm an asshole.

    That's kind of a religion!

  • LOL. Look at the insight statistics! That is so awesome. :]

  • Religion is just a way to brainwash ppl. It's man made.

  • What about the Winter Solstice? It's the only REAL holiday this time of year. The rest are all imaginary or racist.

  • @bluenoserr amen

  • The Westboro Baptist Church probably thinks this was blasphemous and they probably had it taken off the air.

  • Is Tiny Tim died? lol

  • I liked the phone. The phone is hot!!

  • AND PAGANS TOO!

  • I LOVE THIS COMMERCIAL

  • lmao.

  • @WarThug13 fuck you

  • An old Jewish legend says that when Adam and Eve saw the days getting shorter, they lit bonfires to signal to the sun to come back. And it did. All the rest is commentary LOL!

  • It's that time of year again! This is my favorite Chrismahanukwanzakah commercial.

  • Wow, that's an awesome commercial.

  • They didn't leave out Atheists. Notice the caveman and what he says. Plus, Atheism isn't a religion anyways. So... pwnt.

  • he doesnt say anything bout atheism

  • idk, lol. if it is, then i'm wrong, and you were right. my bad

  • the difference between atheism and agnosticism:

atheism - there is no god or higher power.

agnosticism - not sure there is a god or higher power but hasn't ruled it out as a possibility

  • ahh.. good to know. =)

  • That's not true. Atheism is simply lack of belief in a god. Agnosticism is the view that the knowledge of the truth about god is unknowable.

  • @BognarRegis

your definition of atheism is actually a little off, your definition is actually closer to strong atheism, let me explain.

Strong atheism is the belief that no gods exist.

Weak atheism is just the lack of a belief in a god.

When one just says atheism it refers to just weak atheism since every atheist it a weak atheist but only some are strong atheists. Essentially, if you aren't a theist you are an atheist, even agnostics who don't have a god belief.

  • @ac360lover17 Agnotic is you think there's a god but not sure athism there is no god everything always was and that's the explanation.

  • @michiyoyoshiku

you are a little off. agnostic only means you don't know if there is a god, that's it.

Atheism means you reject the idea of a god.

so someone who doesn't know if a god exist but doesn't believe in one would be an agnostic atheist.

Agnosticism deals with knowledge and atheism deals with belief, same goes for gnosticism and theism respectively.

  • @dan0989 Close enough

  • @ac360lover17 They mention both. Atheists believe that no god exists; agnostics aren't sure what they believe.

  • @MastaChiefy Evolution and atheism are not the same thing. And atheism is a religion.

    But thats not the point.

    Happy Christmahanukwanzaka!

  • @mntwins39 1) Most evolutionists are Atheists. Most holy texts are against evolution, so unless you are a picker and chooser religious person, you most likely aren't an evolutionists.

  • @MastaChiefy 1) I live in a town of lutherans. Many of my friends are Lutheran. Yet almost all of my friends (Lutheran or not) believe in evolution.

  • @mntwins39 Then they must not have read their Bible. :P

  • @MastaChiefy I guess. Or they believe in facts versus an old book.

  • @mntwins39

    2) No. Atheism is NOT religion. It ONLY means 'a lack in the belief of a god." So, if you are a "non-democrat" does that make your political party the "non-democrat" party? No! You could be a republican or anything else. Just because you are a non-democrat doesn't mean THAT is your political party. Hell, Buddhists are Atheists.

  • @MastaChiefy Actually, it's not really fair to call Buddhists "atheists", especially in predominantly-Buddhist nations such as Thailand or Sri Lanka.

Spirits, ghosts, and local deities are to them EVERYWHERE. Plus they usually believe in all sorts of wacky things such as immortal souls, reincarnation, and nirvana - all of which are just as ludicrous and unfounded to atheists as conventional concepts of God.

    Most Buddhists are extremely superstitious!!!

  • @bluenoserr Theres a line between actual Buddhism begins and where Asian culture begins. Actual Buddhism isn't so much of a religion as it is a philosophy, yet it is still deemed as one. The whole ghost, souls, and such are just part of Asian culture. Its like Catholics and Protestants. Catholics have all their strange rites and beliefs and Protestants are more lay. Buddhists in Asia have their own beliefs because of how it evolved, but essentially, Buddhism is Atheistic.

  • @MastaChiefy Believing in an immortal soul, reincarnation, and enlightenment/nirvana is about as religious as it gets. And that's not even touching on "optional" beliefs such as Gautama's being conceived by a six-tusked white elephant entering his mom's side in a dream.

Many Westerners who claim to be "Buddhist " have cherry-picked the bits they like. Similarly, many modern "Christians" conveniently ignore the most of the Bible, and choose the bits they like, such as the Sermon on the Mount.

  • @bluenoserr Clearly you didn't read a thing I said. :) Buddhism doesn't teach any of that, the cultures of that time made that up.

  • Comment removed

  • @MastaChiefy Nice sarcastic emoticon.

I hate having to refer people to Wikipedia, but you seem to need some education about Buddhism, so please read the article about Buddhism and rebirth before commenting further.

If that isn't "religion", then NOTHING is.

  • @bluenoserr Again, you read nothing I said. :)

  • @MastaChiefy I read every single word very carefully.

You are either utterly ignorant of Buddhism, or just trolling.

  • @MastaChiefy Follow these simple steps if you're still confised:

    1) Open a dictionary.

    2) Read the definition of the word "religion"

    3) Read the definition of the word "theism"

    4) Read the definition of the word "atheism"

    5) Consider yourself slightly more educated about the universe.

  • @bluenoserr

    1) Nah.

    2) There are several ways to define religion, some that include Buddhism, others that don't. So it could go either way, religion of philosophy.

    3) Belief in a gods. So... again, Buddhism doesn't teach that. Thats part of asian culture. Don't believe me? Read "Buddhism Plain and Simple," or really any other book on Buddhism, or buddha-dharma rather. Not IckyWiki.

    4) Lack of a belief in gods... so Buddhism must be that. Ho ho ho. :D

    5) ... Well, not any more than I have been.

  • @MastaChiefy Religion does not require the belief of "gods". Here's the first definition of "religion" from Dictionary.Reference.DotCom: "a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, esp. when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs."

  • @MastaChiefy Buddhism focuses on the immortal soul, it's constant rebirth through reincarnation, and the ending of that cycle through the achievement of enlightenment and maybe nirvana.

It is NOT what many Westerners wish it to be -namely merely a philosophy that recognises that human suffering comes from desire/craving, and that suffering can be ended by ending desire/craving. If it was, we wouldn't be having this debate.

  • @MastaChiefy I've taken several courses at Shambhala (a highly Westernised Tibetan Buddhist organisation headquartered in Nova Scotia), and I have read many works of Buddhist philosophy both through Shambhala and from dozens of others sources.

While I have great respect for most of their teachings, and huge affection for most for most Buddhists, there is a still great deal of superstition - which is the same as "religion" as far as I'm concerned.

  • @MastaChiefy I've also been to Buddhist temples in Asia, and witnessed Buddhist friends making offerings to the Buddha in hope for material prosperity. When I questioned if they were missing the point of Buddhism (from my perspective), they claimed that MY understanding was lacking.

Don't forget, that just like Muhammad, after the Buddha's departure, there were human councils who decided what would become dogma and what wouldn't.

You get the last word, I've made my point several times over.

  • @bluenoserr Now that you've read the definitions and commentary below, please allow me to explain. Buddhism is ANTI-DOGMA. It isn't about beliefs, it isn't about gods or temples or rituals. A friend of mine describes Buddhism as: I believe, its realizing that your life is meaningless (or empty) in and of itself. Your life only has meaning in relation with other sentient beings - Gods and reincarnation and such are not Buddha's teachings, his dharma. They are just merely left overs from Hinduism.

  • @MastaChiefy I am a pastafarian athiest, yet I have beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe. So its a religion.

  • @MastaChiefy 2) Religion:

a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, esp. when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.

I am a pastafarian athiest, yet I have beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe. So its a religion. Less ritualistic but religion all the same.

  • @MastaChiefy The cavemen didn't say anything about being atheist or not believing in God...he said "in some way we're all monkeys..."

I think you're implying that only atheists believe in evolution. That is wrong. Evolution is based on fact and scientific evidence, and a lot of religions have come to accept it. It's not just an "atheist" belief.

  • @MastaChiefy we're not pwn't. atheist can party any day of the year.

  • @MastaChiefy Atheism is a religion; agnosticism is the only true non-religion.

  • @timegirl777 religion is a group of people wit similar beliefs, so technically both are religions

  • @bleeduntildeath Religion is defined as: "a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, esp. when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies...."

Atheism is the lack of belief in a deity.

Agnosticism is a position of reasonable doubt of your own beliefs.

Neither of which can be described as a "religion" because neither of them have any unifying scripture, dogmas, tennets, or deities. They are both a single position on one subject.

  • @timegirl777 You're stupid, I'm sorry.

  • @timegirl777 Atheism is a religion? Lol. I don't think non-believers believe in anything...

  • @janjonasappel Atheists are people who believe that there is no god; it's belief in the absence of a god/supernatural power. Agnosticism isn't a religion because agnostics don't know what they believe, or don't know whether there is a god/supernatural power.
