  • damn, sounds like she is playing two fiddles at once

  • what kind of strings should I use for Irish Fiddle?Your playing sounds Great by the way!

  • @shellofchaos no finnegan is actually english in origin

  • she had to be a cavan girl god bless her

  • The most rediculous part, is the expression on her face and where her attention is directed. Apart from her playing this awesome music, she looks like she is taking a stroll in the park or watching a tv show or something. Effortless I'm sure.

  • THAT WAS REEL NICE....

  • 9 people are..... not very nice people.... kinda went blank there

  • gotta love that music

  • The notes are so clear

  • Amazing!

  • Wow love that sound, love the style, beans!!!!!

  • wow - very clean cut!!

  • I have honestly lost count of the number of times I've watched this video.

  • @miaelise21 As have I.

  • wow you are truely amazing! i hope i can be as good as you one day!!!!!

  • That is seriously crisp playing there some raw talent here. Saved to favourites.

  • finnegan that like an real irish name right?

  • WOW THAT WAS WONDERFUL...GOD BLESS YOU!

  • Maudabawn Chapel is one of my favourites especially when it modulates to E minor

  • Interested to hear that little lick from Drowsy Maggie in there - is this where that piece derives from?

  • This lass needs a creampie!

  • The girl can play!

  • Seriusly have have listen to this 30 times now, and i still love it! love it...

  • I love that little smile she gets towards the end, it's like relief or elation. . . . I imagine to play that fast she has to rely on muscle memory to some extent, for which you really have to trust yourself. She played it beautifully. The reel itself is very beautiful, too.

  • Truely inspirational:)

  • how come I notice the violin has crazy amounts of rosin on all these irish fiddlers fiddles? is it cos they put more on than other genres to play better or cos the speed means it rubs off more or they play soooo much it builds up and they leave it (more than other genres) what is the reason :)?

  • @dwaynedibbly I'm a classical player, and it's normal upkeep to wipe the rosin off the body and strings after each use. I guess Irish fiddler's don't mind too much...

  • Perfect pacing! Perfect rhythm!

  • You play with the drive that sets the foot tapping.

  • will you marry me?

  • Where can i get the sheet music for this?

  • This ad is not conducive to your wonderful videos

  • Nice playing!

  • Brilliant!

  • brilliant

  • Played beautifully Ursula !

I would expect anything less from a Cavan Colleen !! :)

  • She tilts her bow out to much. Other than that, beautiful.

  • @sexycaty666

I'm not sure why you are going through youtube fiddle clips and picking on people's technique. We aren't playing paganini here, its folk music, doesn't matter how you play it. Maybe you could upload a clip of your perfectly refined technique so we all know how its done? Feel free to go over to my videos and rip into my technique - I couldn't care less, its all about the music.

  • @sexycaty666 Shut the fuck up I'm sick of people who think that because they also play violin that they have to pick out other points. I play the irish fiddle and I hold my bow with 3 fingers as well as hold the violin with a slight slant yet it sounds amazing

  • Ursula has it!

  • Great sound and very nice style

  • This sounds unbelievable x_x!

  • i had a session with her at the cavan fleadh and she was just unbelievable! great playing

  • god p diddy the rapper would be critisised for doing a version of spice girls song! sorry lass! The same piece i have heard like it is being thrashed out like satan himself!! no passion

  • i love her talent but i dont think she has captured the irish struggle in unpassionate sound she tries so hard!

  • @Alastairbell Please post your version of this tune and we will all compare them . . .

  • @MySetDancer1 i will do.................and by your picture you really need to speak to mr sandman about some sleep your are due!! You look like a extra from micheal jacksons thriller music video!! Religon? You want to speak about religon on your youtube site???? Why dont you stop right there with what you think and what everybody else thinks and be alittle patient and wait a while im sure your religious question will be answered shortly by the look of you mr philosophor..

  • some bits sound like " drowsey maggy"

  • Really awesome, :D

  • Irland and its awesome people...

  • is it just me or are all irish girls so pretty? by god what a stuning sound

  • beautiful

  • Astonishing! I find this to be one of my most favorite instruments in the sense that I feel it has a more refined sound than other implements. Its one of the few that makes me want to actually dance.

  • @SolomonBliss its also the closest sounding to the human voice of all instruments, hence why we feel connected to it :)

  • Just Beautifull.

  • Yo quise aprender violin solo por tocar esta pieza y hasta ahora encuentro como se llama. Muchas Gracias por interpretarla tan excelente.

  • translation: i want to learn to play violin just to play this song. i now know the name of the song, great inerpretation, thanks

  • that's not exactly what i was trying to say but thanks.

  • very very good job

  • Great stuff

  • That's damn good.

  • I went from steel drum to bass to six string and I'd like to move on to violin but it just seems so...weird. No frets, itty bitty finger spacing, a bow, IDK.

  • Coming from the guitar and banjo, bowing the fiddle was the hardest part for me.

A mandolin might make a good lead-in instrument from guitar to violin. It's tuned the same and has the same scale length and fingering as a violin. But bowing will be what you will probably have the most difficulty with.

  • @temprise

Let's face it, It ain't believable is it. That's what leads me ! This girl is (yet more ) inspiration. So much of it about, some days, (when you're snowed-in - but with youtube) you'd think it was easy. Maybe it is one day - but not to start with. Struggle-on man !!

  • Your the best!

  • Здорово!!!

  • I love the clap at the end. You can tell the old lady in the front wants to jump up and do a jig

  • thats a lot of rosin

  • Very, very good! 5★★★★★

  • Close up she looks like a full grown fiddle master, but while she's playin she looks like just a girl.

  • Excellent !

  • wow

  • Both the girl and her music are very pretty.

  • She is so talented and beautiful. Every time that I open my youtube's account, the first video that I see is this ^^

I admired so much her, and I love this reel, is my favourite ^^.

I play the Violin since a month, but I wish play Fiddle and Irish Reels because I love this music ♥

  • WOW she plays so good. Her sound is exactly the sound of my violin teacher, and my violin teacher is going for her grade 11 but I've heard some other violinist with different sounds, but I just love the way Ursula and my violin teacher sound on their violin!

  • not violin, fiddle, the difference is the type of music that is played, and trust me, that was not violin music, it was fiddle music.

  • I never said she was playing violin music. I said the way she plays the violin (Her instrument) sounds the same way my violin teacher plays her violin (The instrument). In this case, you can call her instrument a fiddle OR a violin. Though she is FIDDLING on her FIDDLE, or FIDDLING on her VIOLIN. It's the same thing. What you're referring to is the genre of music. This is fiddle music. I never said it wasn't.

  • The secret o' the difference

    Lies only in the name

For a violin and a fiddle

    Are exactly one and same.

You can disect poke and prod

    Or analyse and display them,

But the only difference you'll ever find

Is in the minds o" fowk that play them

This lassie plays a clean fiddle, perfect intonation.

  • At 1.10 she smile. Great hart, great player and great reel,

  • im so selling my drums hahaha..this is so mobile haha

  • wow, thats amazing

  • i had to watch again

  • Lovely piece !

    Lovely playing !

  • smooth yet powerful flawless playing , I'm on the queue for marrying you... :)

  • will you marry me!

  • lol

  • Very well done Ursula. Magic!

  • beautiful music, beautiful playing, beautiful violinist.

  • fiddle player*

    lol

  • this is awesome

    i love irish fiddle

  • *_________*

  • Very Very Nice...I was totally not paying attention to what I was listening to. Had to look up and observe.

  • beautiful stuff. Lovely to hear the trad played properly x I loove your technique just divine, please keep playing x :D

  • Viola* not a viola it should be writtNN

  • No it is not a violin actually :)

  • wow. look at all the rosin on her finger board! haha. Looks like my violin. very good playing BTW.

  • Yes, it's a Viola

  • Comment removed

  • It's a viola, or she's three and a half foot tall... ;-)

  • Is that fiddle huge, or she s barbie size?

  • wow that blew my mind great job

  • Ms. Finegan :O Maths Teacher :P:P Ha

  • it looks too big for a violin, more like a viola

  • my birds love this...i play it for them almost everyday and they dance and sing to it. They love any kind of violin or fiddle...I can see why...its gorgeous music...at least they have good taste

  • Amazing, with a hint of emotion xxx

Well played... I adore this reel!

  • OMG that is ms finnegan !! didnt kno she played de fiddle !!

  • Comment removed

  • Isn't it a viola?

  • fantastic :)

  • great

  • Excellent!!! Technically correct, yet lively and melodic. Hard to get all three combined.

  • You're telling me!

  • Funny... no one seems to be taking a piss at Cavan for the moment. lovely work

  • hi i am in urslas house posting this comment this talent runs in the family its her 2 cousins (G&J!!)!! luv u ursla!!

  • Either that's actually a viola or a really small girl lol. Great playing.

  • That's awsome.

  • WHAT? How can she play so well, i am useless..

  • Lots of practice, lol no shortcuts....In time I hope to be as good, got a while lol.

  • Merveilleuse interprétation.

  • Truly a beutiful peice, and quite well played. =]

  • Hell Yea! Saw That Fiddle! : )!

  • well played,

  • the best ive ever heard that

    tune played!

  • That pwned face.

  • Superb. Thank you for sharing

  • Outstanding Ursula . " An Cabhan "

    Ed Reavy was a genuis.

So good to see the young people playing traditional music so well.

  • sweet jesus. Look at that grill.

    lol jk great playing

  • That's how fiddles should be played, nouf said! :-) I've always been intimidated by this tune, Reavy is a wicked genius!

  • nice!

  • Beautiful playing from miss Bear, 5*

  • It's true some fiddlers set up with the strings lower, or the bridge flatter, but many use the same setup as a classical violinist would. The fiddle and violin are the same instrument. It's how you play it!

  • "The fiddle and violin are the same instrument."

Unless, of course, you fiddle on a rebec or an erhu.

  • Indeed

  • Wow, that was lovely.

  • didn it say she from cavan u idiot

  • this is too good!!!

  • Brilliant. Lovely tune played with style! Thanks!

  • That was a joy to listen to , very well done

  • Excellent!!!!!!!!!!

  • there's no difference it's just called a fiddle in trad music and a violin in classical

  • I believe a fiddle was smaller

  • no it's not smaller it's the same, the term for it is the only difference

  • well thank you kindly for correcting my ignorace ^_^

  • The strings on a fiddle are closer to the fingerboard. There are differences you notice when you play, if you play classical violin, you wouldn't by a traditional fiddle. =-).

  • Yes, people who play folk, jigs and reels etc would call their intrument a fiddle, those who play a wider variety, a violin.

  • The difference is you don't spill beer on a violin ;)

  • LOL XD

  • i wish i could play the violin like that ... what's the difference between a violin and a fiddle ??? lol
