I see Kay & Jay almost every day. They come down by my house to find food. You see I live right downtown Tulsa & my house overlooks NewBlock Park and the River. I have a magnificent view of the river and park & get to see Kay & Jay hunt for food. They are wonderful and BIG. Their bodies are as big as my cat and I worry at times because the Hawks could easily swoop down and pick her up but they don't go for things that big. It's usually small rodents or fish or even other birds.
WulfBand, glad to hear from you. Do you have camera? Please say yes! This kind of information is part of a huge void in our knowledge of these birds. We have one local Tulsan who gets some good photos, but it hit or miss, and it's often hard for her to find them, especially when hunting.
I have a Digital Still camera. I wish I could afford a digital movie camera but I'm disabled and my funds are limited. I have a few pictures of one of the hawks. These are HUGH birds. I'm very blessed to live where I do. There is a family of American Eagles that live across the River here. I also see Giant Cranes and much more. They have to be 3 times bigger than the hawks. The Eagles often fly right in front or over my house. I love it.
