You basically described me. Man, I'm not ashamed on being a hardcore Nintendo fanboy, and even if all Nintendo want from me is my money, I'll gladly give it to them. I've yet to be disappointed by a Nintendo game, and I could live without buying another company's games if I could still buy Ninty games.
As someone living in the ruins of the Sega house, I'm glad there's at least one company for whom making good, fun games is not a business model. It's THE business model.
God..I grew up with Sega Megadrive (strangely) and It has been the one of the most painful things watching the blue blur turned into something that is begging to be put down. Sitting at the age of 8 playing Sonic adventure 2, I knew, I just knew it was all over. But Nintendo, thank god you survived, I'm glad you haven't changed.
I felt this way with Pokemon Soul Silver and Heart Gold. The original Gold and Silver were not only my favorite pokemon games, but they released around the best part of my life. To be able to experience it again, albiet with all the additions, was a godsend during the relatively stressful end of high school.
Great! Now I feel horrible for having an Xbox 360. I will ALWAYS love you Nintendo!!!! Microsoft and Sony will never have that going for them from me :D.
It's just been announced that Shigeru Miyamoto is stepping back from supervising his babies. I feel like my heart has been ripped out of my chest after watching this...
I grew up with the n 64 and as nintendo was slipping...but damn it its not just the nes and snes kids....nintendo is just like disney, if a kid gets a wii hell even a virtual boy. They will love mario zelda and so on. Nintendo know to stick to the classics and occasionally add something new. This is why theyll never die sorry sony and microsoft u just dont have the same charm as nintendo, sega had something close , and atarii had it but were killed by big bullie
I guess I don't fit into the same niche as most people on this comment thread, but I can definitely say this touched me. My first gaming console was the N64 I got when I was 5. I did not really have friends back then, so I spent many an afternoon playing in the many makebelieve world that it offered, having the time of my life and forging memories I will NEVER forget. Eventually I made some friends who felt the same way, which spun off into lasting friendships.
@victorvcj2 Over the years, I and my friends grew up into higher grades, but we continued to play video games the whole way throughout. Today we are all Sophomores in college, we are all doing pretty well, and we still play video games. Our tastes have changed, of course, but we all still play all our Nintendo favorites, and we love to see the creators of our memories are on top. We all plan to keep these parts of childhood live, and I for one will do my best so that my kids can enjoy the same.
This is my first ever Youtube comment. I've been on for a few months now.
When you performed your description of my childhood memories coming back into reality. I cried, not much because I was in a public setting, but well enough. Thankyou for that. I don't give two shits if someone calls me 'gaayy' or a 'faaggg' for saying this, I'd pay well over all that I have (which isn't much) to relive my childhood memories, or at least see myself relive them. Thank-you again.
Well I agree that Nintendo should try experimenting with newer licenses like they did during the Gamecube/GBA era, they are now making an effort to try and branch out to many untapped niches, so they probably will eventually, they may not be the games "hardcore" gamers want but still.
Because 360 and PS3 are so bent on being modern (aka generic fps games that appeal to NO ONE new at all) a company with it's foot planted firmly in tradition AND spreading its wings is a good thing.
However greedy the motivations may be, retro game collections still give younger generations the chance to play great games they would miss out on otherwise. I mean what are the odds of them finding a working NES or Genesis? Just because games are old doesn't mean they should be forgotten by newer generations, especially those with great historical relevance.
Thankfully we have the virtual console, xbox live and emulators as an alternative.
They're not the last company from the golden age, just the last one in the hardware race, and I think it's VERY important that they stay there, we need the diversity and without it all would be left are Sony and Microsoft's cock measuring contests and a nonstop flooding of generic first person shooters and sandbox games.
I've been on the Nintendo side my whole life, my only non Nintendo console is a Genesis. The reason I only buy Nintendo systems is not because I have no interest in the competition (I would LIKE to have a PS3), but because I'm frankly not very well off financially, I always stick with the guys I trust and that's been the big N for me since day one.
But I admit that I really do feel like I missed out on great systems like the PS1 and Dreamcast, and one day I hope to get ahold of them.
Basically, Nintendo fans love and "worship" Nintendo because its the only thing that is still around from their childhood. And they think its going away, enjoy it now.. But when they hear its still on top, They flip out and think that there childhood can remian another year or so... THAT'S why
Sadly it seems like some days the funny japanese man has forgotten some of my most cherished memories: Exploring the unknown. "What's this? Harvest Moon? It's a farming game? I don't know, it sounds kind of borin-Oh My Goodness! This game is fun!
Me, as a 15 year old who never played a video game until a fateful Christmas morning of '08 where I got a wii and a copy of mario kart wii. Quickly realizing that I had struck gold, I spent many a afternoon familiarizing myself with not only the culture that I had missed out on as a kid, but also learning about the culture preceding even my own birth. Therefore causing me to identify myself with the lifestyle that bob here represents.
Bob, I've watched all of your videos, The ones on escapist and the ones here. There's one thing driving me insane...Your editing with text pages
I'm sick of having to pause your videos to read your damned written bits. Some...most...of us can't read 20 words a second...slow that stuff down just a bit please
I'd give the funny Japanese man money simply for the fact that once he's gone, you know you won't find something of the same lines for a long while again.
I think you missed a huge comparison. The console wars are sports for gamers. You think devotion to a publisher based on a console is weird, what about devotion to a team based on where you are from. And it is hardcore fucking devotion, I would get in a fight for the Sox, for the very same reason, it brings me back to a time where things were simpler and I was happier.
@TeeBeeOhh btw I feel really bad for ya. You missed one hell of a time and this is coming from a guy who spent time playin BOTH sega, nintendo AND Pc games.
I play other consoles, but Nintendo makes up a part of my childhood. I understand the need for progress and change. Hell, I'm happy seeing games like L.A. Noire come out. But people need to realize a lot of times; it is good to be nostalgic. I will be sad when Miyamoto dies, but for now; Mario is a piece of my childhood still alive.
this explains why i am not as fond of nintendo as others: i grew up on dune 2 and age of empires and every RTS that is released makes me happy because i fear the day where you can buy "all rts ever made" on your PlayStation 5
I laughed so hard at this one, and the sad thing is it's true. I don't think I had that much of a connection with nintendo, but this is the best explanation I've heard.
Personally I thought the wii would do well regardless.. because they literally make money, instead of trying to make it back up with titles.
I'm a Sega expat. In my childhood home, my cool Japanese man lost his job and began taking up the drink, which slowly killed him. Sonic Team's recent outings display more desperation for a return to the glory days than exhibited by any fan. To all you Nintendo boys, let me warn you, the end is not pretty.
There's one tiny difference, many 360 and PS3 fans are under the bullshit perception that they are for "progress" and Nintendo fans are backwards, even though the games they get hyped about are often already established, recognised names from their youth just like Nintendo fans. While they aren't that different, try telling a PS3 or 360 fan that.
mario would make a good movie, but not a good tv show (shut up, we DO NOT speak of it) or at least i think so... one adventure is about it, you can't stretch that out over even just one year.
I wouldn't give money to the funny Japanese man. Partly because I was abused as a kid so I don't have a very nostalgic view of the house I grew up in, but also because I hate dogs.
Ok, you've spoken about Sega like it's a long dead friend loads of times but this was just cruel. My name actually is Billy and those games on the Ultimate Genesis Collection ARE 5 years worth of Christmas/Birthday gifts being tossed in a bargin bin. Hell, my mum still talks about the Christmas I got my MD, and how it didn't work and I had to wait until the 27th to get it fixed, but, even though I was only 7 years old I didn't complain because I at least owned one... It was that special to me.
actually bob its this vid is very touching. if your reading this, go back to making episodes like this, antithinker was a good idea, but your earliest episodes were always the best ^_^
@ILGAR93 Yahtzee generally has no idea what he's talking about when it comes to Nintendo. When a critic spends most of a review of Galaxy 2 complaining about the plot, he's looking at it the wrong way. Same goes for someone who critizes a retro 2D platformer for existing instead of pointing out any actual flaws, or someone who claims "there's only one Legend of Zelda" when the 3D games--Ocarina, Majora, Wind Waker, and Twilight Princess barely have anything in common outside of core mechanics
I wouldn't pay the Funny Japanese guy. I wouldn't pay the guy to keep the barbarians out of my utopia. I would find myself a stick piece of tube, or anything i can hit something with and beat the invaders to death with it.
Probably i would end up dying myself, but at least than i know i died defending something good.
@enterprise0709 So basically you would try to run your own video game company and try to defend your favorite games against all the hardcore games, only to be overthrown like Sega before you and slowly watch as the army of hardcore games overtakes Nintendo (the funny Japanese man) and any hope of the games you love staying alive?
Since i couldn't remember the kenny loggins song mentioned (the house at pooh corner, btw), i paused the vid and looked it up and listened to it, and i am not ashamed to say that i cried during the last verse. Having just passed my 22nd b-day, I'm starting to really miss my childhood and to realize what i had back then. So i can forgive the nintendgeeks for clinging to this last vestige of their childhood, but they still don't have to be rude about it.
I wouldn't give money to the funny japanese man because, frankly, my childhood memories live on in the carefully maintained friendships from that simpler time, in the games I play with my young cousins and the children of my friends who have decided to raise a family and in the flights of fancy that can take life in that strange place between slumber and wakefulness. But mostly because I never had a nintendo and my first computer game was wolfenstein 3D.
@fundude365 just so you know good THINGS are not good PEOPLE,and good things are just as part of good MOMENTS,then people, the point?u didn't get bob's point ^^
For me, instead of Shigeru Miyamoto, there'd be two people: Ken Kutagari, and Alexey Pajitnov. When Tetris was released on the PS3 the other week, boy was I happy.
wow kinda feel wierd like some one just explained why i love video game and nintendo. that was beutiful. hope movie bob gets his own show on tv someday.
*cont.* But the fact is that I lived in an area where gaming in general wasn't that well accepted, but the Wii? As if. I would've surely been mocked and shunned. I was weak. So I let myself drift away from Nintendo and failed to track anything on the Wii at all, and in turn missed so much. After all this, all I ever really wanted to say is: Thank you. Thank you for doing what nothing else could, convincing me go back to Nintendo, back to the reason I ever got into this hobby to begin with.
My first system was a playstation, but what caused me to actually get into gaming was when I got a GBA and with it: A Link to the Past. That changed something in me. I ended up spending far more time with NES, SNES and N64 games than anything with sony. And then the Wii. I bought it yes, but for the most part, I've ignored it. As much as it pains me in hindsight to say this, I haven't even bought New Super Mario Brothers. Yeah.
I dunno if this is weird or not, but that last part "And glad to see that at least one grave has yet to be filled" really hit me. I dunno what'd I do if Super Mario were to go through something like what Sonic did... I'd probably quit gaming.
I love Nintendo. I love their franchises, and their characters. But I also like Final Fantasy and God of War. It doesn't have to be either-or with gaming, right?
I would give the funny Japanese man money. There's just something about Nintendo that makes them stand out from the rest. Maybe it's because they're the only "true" gaming company left in a world where consoles are made by monolithic, borderline soulless, corporations.
I'm in my 20's now but this video took me right back and reminded me of those weekend's when I used to sit around with my step-brother and do nothing but power thought whatever game we rented this week on my SNES. GOD I LOVE NINTENDO and I vow to do everything in my power to prevent what happed to Sega from happing to Nintendo

2:50 - 5:20 NO. I would have burnt the house down before they arrived, do you know why? Because I understand progress, i understand the need for something to change, if everything remained the same as it was back then, that would be true hell. I understand the need to see from different perspectives (maybe your place was on the only farmable ground), and while everyone should understand change, it DOES NOT mean they should like it.
You're an idiot, and completely missed the point. He is not saying that change is bad, he's just saying that nostalgia isn't bad either. The industry will always change, for good and bad, and nostalgia is not gonna keep it from happening, so if you think everything associated with video game history should be destroyed for the sake of progress that's your problem.
Gamers with your mentality are the video game equivalent of chinese revolutionists. Only nothing has oppressed you.
@kingboobs20 at least I'm not nearly as stupid as people who reply to 11 month old comments telling the person their opinion is wrong, thinking that the person will still care about the video (which I don't) or inferring an argument that they didn't make from a comment before finishing by attacking the person.
I'm just glad your argument is so CLEARLY rooted in logic and reasonable thinking.
It doesn't matter how old it is, point is it's a horrifically stupid post that is still there for me and everyone to see and I also KNEW you would respond to it anyway. I also expected you to come up with some attempt at a rebuttal instead of something this lazy.
You clearly cared enough to respond. But you can't admit to completely misunderstanding the point of the video? So much pride over your stupidity, it's really sad.
@kingboobs20 I cared enough to respond, because as 11 months went by I came to hate this piece of shit I used to enjoy watching, and due to massive boredom. Do I care enough to rewatch this video? NO.
I guess you completely misunderstood my comment, I was, and am still, against nostalgia because I see it as mainly the reason Nintendo keep releasing only their main series games and why fans defend them so much no matter how bad some of those games turn out to be.
I know that this was posted in 2008, but at that time it had barely anything aside from first party games, so I have to ask, were you high when you made this Bob?
From 2:50 to 5:20, it's pretty scary in how nostalgic and introspective it made me for 3 minutes. I was Nintendo most my life, growing up on it and the subsequent consoles up to the GameCube (Haven't gotten the Wii for various reasons). What scares me most, however, is not the possibility of Nintendo failing. I fear our Godfather of gaming's eventual passing. Miyamoto is after all, while a great man, like us in our simple mortality and fragility. God help us all the day he leaves this world.
Nintendo fans are the reason I hated Nintendo for a long time. Not to mention I hate anything seen has perfect (Mario) Nice video's. You are truly the greatest.
Often times I'm a bit annoyed at Bobs endless bashing of halo and all it stands for, but this episode... yeah, it does give a new perspective of things.
Also it's revenge for those who said Nintendo was supposed to die like Sega. I'm loving their current success & wish them more. They're the torchbearers of videogaming.
Yep, that's pretty much it more or less. Nintendo is the Last Mohican. They represent what this pastime is supposed to be and should always be. I dig the new Wii stuff like Wii Fit & such for that reason. Nintendo made it & it is good. As long they are good, I'm loyal to them.
You're wrong here moviebob. I saw it coming & put it down for the record before the gen in 2005. I knew Nintendo was gonna rule this place with Wii & DS. But you ARE right that even I was thrown off by the name of "Wii" at first. I was also mystified at why Nintendo would make the DS when the GBA was just 3 to 4 years old. I like Nintendo because of the work they do & what they have brought to the business in the high times & low times. They are just good. That's why I like them.
"not just yet", nintendo wont die they cant. i dont cling to any one console, but they are the ones who bring in the next generation of gamers. without them games will become what comics are now.
I cried. . . This is the PERFECT descriptor of my relationship with not only my beloved Sony consoles, but video gaming as a whole. It's the way I feel about Final Fantasy. Me and my brother disagreed on many things, but he showed me FF and MGS, virtually every franchise I still play. My brother is gone, but discounting Legacy of Kain, those franchises live on, and, in a way, my brother.
Great job on FF13 and MGS4 guys. Also, LOK:D was a great close, even if not completely conclusive.
While it may be depressing to see your favorite childhood games in bargain bin collections I find it much preferable than to have the games from your childhood rare and expensive. I missed out on a lot of great games from when I was a kid by not having a playstation and know that I have one, the games are very difficult to obtain. At least with the cheap compilations I can relive my childhood and the games will be enjoyed by future generations.
(continued) I get what I call "fauxstalgia," that is, nostalgic feelings for games and cartoons that are old but I never played/watched as a kid when I play something like Super Mario Bros. or watch Samurai Pizza Cats, neither of which were a part of my life as a young kid. But I still become "nostalgic," and I especially liked that touching piece about what Nintendo is like to the nostalgic consumer. I just wonder why this happened, why I'm watching this rather than something more mainstream.
@Nellis4543 I also like the fact that retro games are justifiably difficult, that is the difficulty is in the game, not learning an overly complex button map. Also, I just like sprites and chiptune music. (I love the music on the 8bitpeoples label. It's free AND legal because of the Creative Commons license.)
Truthfully, I didn't get into video games until I was 15. I had a GBA for a few years before that, but I never played it because all my games were terrible because the people who got them for me knew nothing about good games, and neither did I. I also played on friends' N64's, Game Boy Pocket, etc. but I wasn't really into video games. It was when I was introduced to Screwattack, YouTube, and the internet in general that I got really interested. And I became especially interested in retro games.
This was actually pretty heartwrenching rant. When I first read on GamePro that Sega isn't making consoles, or that Midway is dead, I felt like part of my childhood is going with them. That last bit at the end reminded me of that wonderful feeling I got while playing Tales of Monkey Island. It's good to know that no matter what, Guybrush Threepwood will always be Guybrush Threepwood.
actually Capcom, Square and Conami would be other rubber suit monsters teaming up with Sonny (Godzilla), since they were with them for a looong time of PSX. I'd say they would be: Anguirus, Rodan and... Mothra?
I think the difference is that the only thing nintendo does is make and sell games. Microsoft has its computers, and Sony its TVs, DVD players and what-have-you.
Usually the only companies that can afford the risk of developing a gaming system are huge ones who usually make some kind of technology. What did Nintendo make? Playing cards and games (I think they also had taxis and hotels at some point).
Basically, all they do is sell games, so they have to be good at it.
i'm 15 and was born into a family that already had an NES and a Genesis and that's how i got into retro games, but i'm also a retro movie buff and a classic rock maniac. my friends describe me as a time machine. so when i see videos of older people talking about their childhoods i always think "MAN! i wish i was able to experience those times" i mean seriously 95% of my friends are Call of Duty and Madden fanatics and they have a Super Nintendo stored in their basement never having been played!
Nintendo is the LAST true gaming company from the golden age of video games The XBox and360 bro and the playstation series were built by companies the decided that they should start a gaming branch but the vast majority of their money still comes from other sources Nintendo does gaming and nothing else And they have managed to stay not only alive but also in the limelight if not always in the center With nary a change in its heart design if thats not worth sticking with then nothing is.
They're not the last company from the golden age, just the last one in the hardware race, and I think it's VERY important that they stay there, we need the diversity and without it all would be left is Sony and Microsoft's cock measuring contest and a nonstop flooding of generic first person shooters and sandbox games.
I might not have been around during the NES, and SNES days, but I am a die hard Nintendo fan. I love every one of their games. They're just a company that doesn't fuck around. They make games for our entertainment, and give us something to do. From the retro oldschool days, to the HD graphics, and sounds of today, I love Nintendo. It is definitely the best gaming company there is, and have literally saved the gaming industry. Thank you Nintendo. I'll love you forever for all the wonderful times.
Must be nice being a Nintendo fanboy. I've always liked Nintendo and have a NES and an SNES back in the day, but I was a Sega fan boy, and we know how that turned out.
Hmm I knew what you were saying and I feel ya but it I'm not feeling the tears and I'm a pretty emotional guy. But the way I see it is that memories are meant to be cherished and loved and maybe seeing them still around is nice but you have to come to terms with something you like will go away and never come back. Rather than reside in the past one should look for the future. It's better to go forward and hope and maybe even attempt to make the future better with new things that could be loved.
Even though Nintendo isn't the system for me anymore, I'm glad it's still around. I grew up with it and Sega and it's nice to see some systems can still be on top.
I prefer pre-N64 Nintendo though, it just had an awesome line up of games not to miss.
Back when NES and SNES were around, for me it was all about Castlevania, Contra, Methroid, Ninja Gaiden, Final Fantasy, Mega Man, Zelda, and the list went on.
As for Nintendo now, just doesn't have that line up anymore.
I... I... ... goddammit, this video has managed to bypass my shell of adulthood stoicism, and now I have a fucking lump in my throat because I know that no matter how badly I want even one day of my happy childhood back, it's not going to happen. I guess I'll take your advice and get a used SNES off eBay (complete with the good Mario games) to numb the pain for a while. God damn you for making me regress to this state.
I never did have 8-bit nintendo or super nintendo. My cousins had it and I did played some games with it, but mostly my childhood gaming experiences were from vic 20, c64 and amiga 500. Still I've preferred nintendo's consoles since gamecube.
When gamecube was in market everything was really stagnant. Games were most of the time branded to be under some genre unlike before when they were unique. Nintendo was only one that had any fresh ideas. And I still think thats generally true today.
no not that bad. The main problem is that capcom took the popularity of a great game and turned it into pokemon. fun game but a legend like mega man should always run to the right jump shoot
I see how your logic works, and I'm sure for many people it's true, but the reason I bought a Wii is because Nintendo just generally makes better quality games. And yes, I grew up on Nintendo, Ocarina of Time was my childhood, so that was a factor. Also, Nintendo is the only true video game company out there now, Sony and Microsoft use their game consoles as just another way to make money. Nintendo does it for the games, man.
But the main issue is that Nintendo is now making much more money with mini games and peripherals. And whenever Nintendo decides to feed its core fan base (not the casuals) others see it as the mere milking of old franchises, and Nintendo is constantly being penalized about not coming up with new ideas. It's every game devs dream to get where Nintendo is at right now, but they do nothing but spit out the same stuff. And almost anything that's brand new doesn't sell well either.
I dont think Nintendo is ever gonna be a monoply again the games wher fun (I played alot of pokemon when I was a small kid) if MS and sony where to stop Sega will/might return

TeeBeeOhh 9 months ago
I laughed so hard at this one, and the sad thing is it's true. I don't think I had that much of a connection with nintendo, but this is the best explanation I've heard.
Personally I thought the wii would do well regardless.. because they literally make money, instead of trying to make it back up with titles.

I'm a Sega expat. In my childhood home, my cool Japanese man lost his job and began taking up the drink, which slowly killed him. Sonic Team's recent outings display more desperation for a return to the glory days than exhibited by any fan. To all you Nintendo boys, let me warn you, the end is not pretty.

I don't think Nintendo fanboys are any different than other fanboys.... They're all just people being slaves to consumerism.
Not saying fans of any particular company are bad, just that fanboys of any kind aren't really unique from one another.
blends3d 11 months ago
@blends3d

Lunarvx22 1 year ago 2
@ILGAR93 Yahtzee generally has no idea what he's talking about when it comes to Nintendo. When a critic spends most of a review of Galaxy 2 complaining about the plot, he's looking at it the wrong way. Same goes for someone who critizes a retro 2D platformer for existing instead of pointing out any actual flaws, or someone who claims "there's only one Legend of Zelda" when the 3D games--Ocarina, Majora, Wind Waker, and Twilight Princess barely have anything in common outside of core mechanics

Sparrow476 1 year ago
My first system was a playstation, but what caused me to actually get into gaming was when I got a GBA and with it: A Link to the Past. That changed something in me. I ended up spending far more time with NES, SNES and N64 games than anything with sony. And then the Wii. I bought it yes, but for the most part, I've ignored it. As much as it pains me in hindsight to say this, I haven't even bought New Super Mario Brothers. Yeah.
Sparrow476 1 year ago
I dunno if this is weird or not, but that last part "And glad to see that at least one grave has yet to be filled" really hit me. I dunno what'd I do if Super Mario were to go through something like what Sonic did... I'd probably quit gaming.

2:50 - 5:20 NO. I would have burnt the house down before they arrived, do you know why? Because I understand progress, i understand the need for something to change, if everything remained the same as it was back then, that would be true hell. I understand the need to see from different perspectives (maybe your place was on the only farmable ground), and while everyone should understand change, it DOES NOT mean they should like it.
lich109 1 year ago

You're an idiot, and completely missed the point. He is not saying that change is bad, he's just saying that nostalgia isn't bad either. The industry will always change, for good and bad, and nostalgia is not gonna keep it from happening, so if you think everything associated with video game history should be destroyed for the sake of progress that's your problem.
Gamers with your mentality are the video game equivalent of chinese revolutionists. Only nothing has oppressed you.
kingboobs20 5 months ago
@kingboobs20 at least I'm not nearly as stupid as people who reply to 11 month old comments telling the person their opinion is wrong, thinking that the person will still care about the video (which I don't) or inferring an argument that they didn't make from a comment before finishing by attacking the person.
I'm just glad your argument is so CLEARLY rooted in logic and reasonable thinking.
lich109 5 months ago
@lich109
So much pride over your stupidity, it's really sad.
kingboobs20 5 months ago
@kingboobs20 I cared enough to respond, because as 11 months went by I came to hate this piece of shit I used to enjoy watching, and due to massive boredom. Do I care enough to rewatch this video? NO.
I guess you completely misunderstood my comment, I was, and am still, against nostalgia because I see it as mainly the reason Nintendo keep releasing only their main series games and why fans defend them so much no matter how bad some of those games turn out to be.

But I still become "nostalgic," and I especially liked that touching piece about what Nintendo is like to the nostalgic consumer. I just wonder why this happened, why I'm watching this rather than something more mainstream.

Nellis4543 1 year ago
@Nellis4543 I also like the fact that retro games are justifiably difficult, that is the difficulty is in the game, not learning an overly complex button map. Also, I just like sprites and chiptune music. (I love the music on the 8bitpeoples label. It's free AND legal because of the Creative Commons license.)
CrazyCheeseMagee 1 year ago
Truthfully, I didn't get into video games until I was 15. I had a GBA for a few years before that, but I never played it because all my games were terrible because the people who got them for me knew nothing about good games, and neither did I. I also played on friends' N64's, Game Boy Pocket, etc. but I wasn't really into video games. It was when I was introduced to Screwattack, YouTube, and the internet in general that I got really interested. And I became especially interested in retro games.
CrazyCheeseMagee 2 years ago
This was actually pretty heartwrenching rant. When I first read on GamePro that Sega isn't making consoles, or that Midway is dead, I felt like part of my childhood is going with them.

They're not the last company from the golden age, just the last one in the hardware race, and I think it's VERY important that they stay there, we need the diversity and without it all would be left is Sony and Microsoft's cock measuring contest and a nonstop flooding of generic first person shooters and sandbox games.

Is Megaman Battle Network really that bad? I enjoy it. :)

no not that bad.
