not saying it would end them completely but it would deffinetly make them a lot more rare. if hookers would suddenly stop being outlaws, many rapists would become discouraged..
Anyway, my main point is that if you can't beat them - at least join them and go make money of off it. prostitution will never end and it is much better to legalise and cointain it, rather then rage a fruitless war against it.

What about other reasons for prostitution being illegal besides Christianity ? People are sometimes forced into it. Organized crime often has a stake in it - even in situations where prostitution is legal. I also don't think that it's psychologically good for someone to have sex with huge numbers of strangers.

I think the most logical answer would be it threatens marriage. Being as hard and unstable as it is, if they allow it, then more and more men would go to prostitutes because they can't handle their wives. This would decrease marriage rates and probably birth rates, lowering population. It's actually pretty good since the world is overpopulated and we're gonna screw it over eventually anyway. Then again, we Americans are stupid as hell, so we're probably gonna impregnate all the prostitutes.
