OK I'm replying to you a year after you posted, but here's my answer:

If you like Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, in short, the teenage fantasy genre, than yes. This isn't the best of the best, and few authors will ever be able to match Tolkien, but Paolini is definitely one of the most worthwhile fantasy series of the decade; in my opinion, Eragon is way better than the all of the modern children's books(like 39 Clues or Ranger's Apprentice, no offence Scholastic and Flanagan).

@fantezie I know its a late to reply, but in my opinion, the Inheritance cycle is more moving than lord of the rings or Harry Potter. Once youre in it, you cant stop, believe me. This isn't even a child's book, you'll enjoy it in your teens too. I was really sad when I finished the first book because: it was the last one and the end is really sad. Seriously, read it, I'm 16 and theyre my favorite books
