  • I loved how she had this persona Alice in London...carefree and exploring life. But when she came back to New York , she is her oldself again- Jane.

  • I do not think she has died. At the beginning of the movie, she crosses the street and is hit by a car before falling in love with Dan. So, Alice crossing the street at the end of the movie means she is about to fall in love again. "Love is an accident waiting to happen - Closer".

  • This is my favorite part of that movie...She's hot!

  • this scene is SO wonderful! I remember seeing this on theater! i was just.. OH MY GOD, LOOK AT HER! hahaha. Natalie is an icon, really

  • The film stays very true to the original play upon which it is based, with one major exception. The play closed with Dan and Anna speaking briefly on a park bench, several years after Alice and Dan's breakup. Dan tells her that Alice had been hit by a car in New York City and had died, and that he was the only one authorities could find to identify her body.

  • @babybayo However, the film closes showing Alice alive, well and confidently walking the streets of Manhattan--BUT, the very last shot as she's walking across a road in Manhattan is a pan/tilt up to a red "DON'T WALK" signal, thus hinting that her fate as in the play will be fulfilled.

  • dat movie was AMAZING=

  • She looked the wrong way... and there's a no walk sign... but I still like to think it ended better than the play.

  • she moves perfectly!

  • the movie is based on a theater play. in the end, she gets hit by a car, which is shown by the red light at the end.

  • @slinkyredthing So why did 2 people crossed the street just seconds before she did? Mass suicide? It makes no sense. They would have been hit too. I think the movie was meant to end in a more upbeat way -to say Alice/Jane will cross a street red light or not.

  • @mrsotter19 but if you look closer, they are kind of far away from her/. When she crosses in the very last shot, she's alone on the road and the stop light sort of tells what happens.

  • @lpycb42 The whole thing is unclear. According to the play she died (although I don't see why she was "punished"). In the movie it was left to the viewer's imagination. Someone who hasn't seen the play could easily be led to see it as "maybe she did, maybe she didn't make it".

  • Natalie Portman was a young Julia Roberts.I believe all the characters can be related to.

  • she gets hit by a car again. see the stop walking sign as the camera pans up?

  • I think Alice is as tragic a character as the others. She's aloof and immature--a true romantic...if you look at the walking sign as the camera lifts and pans out, the sign is "don't walk." I imagine her getting hit by a car again. She'll either loose her life or fall for a new "stranger," and repeating the story again. Either way, I think independency eludes her.

This storyline has too much symmetry for her not to get hit by a car at the beginning and end!

  • @hammer41184

"Either way, I think independency eludes her." I think so too.

  • Damn. Just saw this last night. Jude Law treated her like shit then also hit up on Julia Roberts. Then Clive Owen took care of business cause Jude Law was too busy chasing other pussy...so in the end Natalie Portman and Jude Law split up. Sad ending.

  • when i see NAtalie walking in this scene i can t understand anything!!!she is so beautifull

  • natalie rocks

  • Wow! I was watching this video on mute and I was playing Radiohead's "Creep" in the background. I totally spaced out into the video, and I completely forgot until I closed the video and the music was still playing that the two were disconnected. They go really well together. Different feel, but great.

  • @hipnhappenin omg they so do!

  • @lullabyou , you are right her life is empty from her past. But as a person she knows she is beautiful and has high replication value. As for Dan, he seems to be empty. In which he will probably linger until he finds another Alice. All said and done great film, and I wish they make a sequel.

  • @jedimaster2cool * * * * * 5 stars for you :)

  • like she expected it to end like that...

  • I absolutely LOVE this part, the independence she projects like saying watch me fuckerss the world is under my feet!!!!

someday I'll walk like that someday...

and the music is beautiful too

    I love her :)

  • @lullabyou yeah you're right but she is so sad and alone at the same time, just like the beginning in the movie

  • @thisisthemario yes, you're also right, but.... you know...

those moments or periods in your life when someone or something made nothing but crap of you and you touched ground...

that feeling when you're feeling like you said, sad and empty but also with a new force inside... she has that, she could eat the world in that moment

  • @lullabyou your right too, but eating the world will not bring happiness to her life, she is seeking something different, i think she is seeking her true self

  • @thisisthemario I know... that's what i'm trying to say too :)

but i believe we need a little bit of "anger" inside of us to have the force to look into ourself and be open to a new view of the world... I don't know.. maybe I'm just projecting myself jajaja

  • @lullabyou eaxctly!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i love alice's character

    amazing

  • This is my favorite scene from the movie. Not just because she's giving fierce runway & has the men about to trip over their own feet trynna catch a glimpse of her, but because the her walk & the look on her face lets you know that even though she's pulled herself back together enough to get on with her life, she'll always be somewhat broken & will never be able to love in the future as deeply as she did in the past, if at all.

  • Just love the movie great ending.

  • yeah love this movie. I felt like her character everyday dealing with the bs that i had to go through. i had a lot of back n forth with the same guy and he couldnt decide who he wanted either. i always told him he gonna end up losing us both. so glad im not in that situation anymore.

  • can`t take my eyes off you, ese es el nombre de la cancion

  • se llama The Blower's Daughter

  • did you know that in the original play her character dies? in a traffic accident, there is a reference to it here, when she is crossing the street the light is red just at the end

  • @luquiroga24 thank you, i never knew this!

  • She just hast the perfect type of face and she is incredible in this movie!!!

  • Mi escena y cancion favorita tambien.

Loved Natalie in this movie, she looks so beautiful. She has an amazing face.

  • I don't know if what Jane did was smart, but I will agree with you that she is smarter than everyone else in the movie. A smart thing to do would probably be stay away from him if she knew he was that way, I don't know there is something messed up about this movie, just kind of disturbing the kind of people these characters are. :/ Still a good movie though.

  • I Love Natalie Portman! :)

  • she just looks soooo NAIICEE here!

  • it's like she knew from the beginning that it would end up like that because she has told a wrong name...kind of deep...

  • Yeah I was thinking about that, she does seem pretty innocent. She never cheated on anyone, she only had sex with Clive Owen's charactor when she was single. She was innocent and everyone else was a complete and total asshole.

  • you are so fucking right.

  • i think that her character was smarter then all of them. she played them all and knew what type of a man dan was from the beginning. remember when larry asks her her name at the strip club and she gives him jane jones and he thinks she is lying. she responds "lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothes off." the girl is smart

  • I understand when you say it was a messed up movie and you didn't like it. I personally like this movie but it's messed up, everyone just keeps hurting each other in the movie. It's sad to watch cuz everyone turned into the villian.

  • I don't see how Natalie Portman's character was a villian in anyway. She got screwed over by Jude Law's character and doesn't take him back in the end. She was innocent, in my opinion.

  • this was a messed up movie, i hated it.

but i do love natalie portman, she's beautiful.

  • mi escena favorita también.

  • se llama The blower's daughter

  • slow motion breast bouncing should be a fixture in every movie.

  • hay q ser basto y hortera...

  • Can anybody tell me what's the name of the song from the end of the movie?

    tnks

  • this is one of my favorite movies end

  • I finally watched this movie I mosttlly wanted to see it do to Clive Owens but I loved the ending so table turning how she was telling Clive her real name in the club and all that great movie I loved it.

  • quién pensaría que esa chica es alice...

  • Last time I watched the movie, I wondered if all those people were actually looking at her, or told to look at her. You know? Because they would have looked regardless. :)

  • LOL ..... I wondered too ;)

  • woohh!!!

    (Y)

    cool

  • mmm yes. Portman is quite a dish.

  • True Divas Never Dies!!!

  • I think that her crossing on the red light means insubordination to rules of any kind, a sort of risky independence. Beautiful performance, of a beautiful lady.

  • beauuuutiful!!! :)

  • I LOVED Alice's character in this. She was the only one who was relatable. And the ending proved she was really the most manipulative and intelligent, nobody really knew her at all. Unlike all the others, she had her independancy and mystery. Although she loved Daniel, she never would had stayed with him.

  • @rebe1angel but she is trapped in her mistery, she really did not showed her true self to anyone, because she's no one... just like she said in the last scene of the movie

  • @rebe1angel so you conclude she was the most intelligent? after all she was the one who was alone in the end and didn't stay with the one she loved. that's dumb in my interpretation. manipulative isn't intelligent

  • @assailant85 Yes...that's what I conclude. And I say to you, how could she possibly have stayed with Daniel?...Love is worth nothing without trust, and she most certainly could not trust him. Why I admire her so, is that - she can survive on her own...none of the other character's could. She had her own identity which she had to compromise in order to have a relationship with Daniel. Real love is when you can be your-self, and have that person love you for YOU.

  • @rebe1angel indeed. She was more complex. But the men were to revealing too fast.

  • ey todos se giran!

    por que esta planeado?

o por que ha reconocido a natalie?

  • la pregunta es en serio?

  • jajajajajajaj

  • esta peli,es la mejor

  • the ending made me tear up a little.. poor jane.. she has to live on... thats why i love her! shes is very convincing.. reminds me of my life just a bit... ='] i adore this movie.. <3 10/10

  • are you an erotic dancer as well?

  • lool no i AM NOT AN EROTIC DANCER! xD

  • thats too bad... Youd make a lovely dancer Im sure

  • So does the "do not walk" sign signify that she gets hit by a car and dies or that she gets hit, lives, and another guy comes to her rescue and it starts all over again?

  • I never even noticed that! Nice observation!!

    You could be right.

  • The film is based on a play and unfortunatly, Alice is hit by a car and dies in that so I think it's probable she died however it is always open to interpretation, the film hasn't stated it, just left to the veiwer to speculate

  • Her real name in the movie was Jane?

  • She is plain Jane Jones, look at her passport when she comes into America.

Thats why she told Dan 'no one ever sees my passport photo'.

  • great scene, love it. actually, it is the scene i remember best from the movie, because it is so touching somehow.

  • THIS THE JEWISH VIOLATE

  • natalie you are simply the best actress ever...very well done, i love this movie

  • sad ending..

Beautiful song that fits the movie perfectly.

  • do you know who sings the song? its not coming up in the soundtrack results and its not that damien guy that keeps popping up. can't take my eyes off of you by...? thanks

  • It is by Damien Rice, its called the Blowers Daughter. Listen to the whole song, lol. :)

  • bethany1510: I think u might be referring to Lauren Hill-Cant take my eyes off you

  • Damien Rice - The Blower's Daughter

  • I love Natalie Portman

  • She is God

  • i love this movie...i feel sorry 4 her in the movie...cuz nobody really cares 4 her...and she is really able 2 forgive him after he cheteaded on her... julia roberts in the movie is kind of a whore...and the character of jude law doesn`t aprecciate what he has until he tought he loose it...

  • She is amazing.. beautiful.. and i love the character..... she said'' i dont need things'' she seems to love the life at the moment, dont look at the future... she is amazing.. she lives the moment.. whoa...

and i dont think she hook up with the doctor!

  • q hermoza mujer

  • I want to marry her

  • That is a confident walk.

  • its a song from damien rice, but i don't know the title

  • "Can´t take my eyes off you".

  • The blower's daughter is the name of the song

  • ooppss, right, sorry ;p

  • what is the name of the song?

  • damien rice - the blowers daughter

  • thank you for the song..

  • A shooting star.....

    Saludos!

  • Absolutely gorgeous Natalie! Her best performance...sweet and sexy, innocent and voluptuous at the same time. She is the outstanding character of the movie.Surprisingly, she tops above Julia Roberts, her character, Alice vs Jane, is much more marked by the tension of the inner conflict.

  • Disagree I think there is more a sense of resignation in the character that Julia Roberts plays. - She goes back to that guy, not because she really wants to but she thinks whats the point.. - The character Natalie plays is young and heads back to the States leaving all the mess behind her..

) impresionante. Love every single thing of this movie

  • Did she kill herself? because it had the stop sign as in don't walk & she was still walking...

  • actually at the begining thats how she meets jude law. crossing the street while the sign was red :)

  • good observation-- i guess she's just gonna do the same thing all over again.. ha ha

  • Arriba las ondulais y pelolais y Abajo las Pokemonas! Grande Natalie! Grande Diva!

  • jajajajajajajjaj

qe grande tu cmentario! jajajajaaj :D

    bss

  • DIVA por siempre

  • I can't take my eyes off of her.

  • me love natalie

  • damien rice, the blowers daughter

  • Who sings this?

  • Damian Rice - The blower`s daughter

  • even though she walks when it says dont walk shes right bhind the other people so i dont think she was meant to get run over at the end

  • . All these men are checking her out and before she was insecure and would stare back, but she just passes them by. She now has self confidence. She lost everything trying to be someone she was not, and yet she really loved Jude Law in the movie. This is the best scene: She passes the men by and doesn't return a glance, the sign says "one way" out of his life. The "DONT WALK" light flashes, but she crosses the street in confidence because wont let any man distract her again. GREAT MOVIE!

  • u had a totally wrong and optimistic view of the movie. the truth was she always lied about her identity and lied so easily and had done it before and enjoyed it. "lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothes off" at the end of the movie she is not "newly self confident" but rather despondent, in the play she commits suicide by walking into oncoming traffic. they cut it out of the movie but it's still hinted by the fact that she is still walking when it says dont walk

  • Totally agree... it seems to be a game she uses to play. All me around her, turn their heads when she walks, she knows it. Sometimes i see on my friends they don´t apreciate the person they have by their side, someone able to make people turning their heads, but almost invisible for their boy/girlfriend. I like she just said her real name to Clieve Owen, because he is a nerd, but he is sincere.

  • wow you can really read the screen. Thank you for your insights. :-)

  • MI FAVORITO

  • in this movie she plays the part of destiny... it's an amazing movie.... I do love it..

  • its supposed to mean she's changed, not only physically but in the way she sees all people. Hasn't love ever changed you like this before? Like you can't look another man in the face again? (And can't help to look drop dead gorgeous?) Thats whats the great about this scene. Shes beautiful and untouchable.

  • mooii

  • Brains & sway! She's an amazing person.

  • i love this scene too cuz natalie is so beautiful and gorgeous walking in slow motion with her hair bouncing and flowing to the beautiful music and all the heads turning to check her out, very nice outtro

  • Her beauty probably turns heads anywhere she goes, just like how the last scene makes it look. I love this scene at the end.

  • I thought I was the only one that loved watching her walk. How lovely

  • Natalie's entrance and exit scenes to this movie are just the best!

  • whats the song in this scene?

  • Its Damien Rice - Blowers Daughter ;)

  • i thought i was the only one who liked this scene. It's weird, she's just walking but a lot of people would agree this is one of the best scenes of the movie.

  • lol whats with all the guys checking her ass as she walks by? specially the last guy in black shirt sec 0:35 what a perv! lol but seriously i love this movie one of the best one ever

  • Come on, people do that all the time.

  • Natalie is not only an amazing actress, she is the most beautiful. A number of people have told me I look like her, and that's the best compliment I have ever gotten :)
