this song reminds me of my grandfather because he grew up in the country and that if had to go he wanted to grab a bottle and fall asleep in the snow so he can be with my grandma which will be the saddest day of my life
I'm 15 and I understand way more than I want to understand about life at my age, this song just tears me apart thinking and singing the words. I don't ever want to grow up. I always will want to stay this age. This age. Is where you find your home. My dads deploying to Afghanistan soon. This song would make that soldier cry. I've seen him cry maybe three or four times in my life. 1 when we lost his dad RIP papa, 2 when I told him I want to move with him 3 when my aunt got married and she reserv
This Song Sends Chills down my Spine.I've never in my life ever heard anything like this. I'm so blessed for what I have.I don't really listen to Country, but My God.Amazing, and so Scary...
@sjgilley Yeah when I was In Iraq we had bunk beds, and If you had the bottom rack we would put sheets around the outside and I would lap up in there with my Ipod and just get away from everybody. If I needed Motivation I would listen to Johnny Cash "Ragged ol Flag", If I was thinking about my wife I would listen to George Strait "True"
then I lost a good buddy of mine so I would listen to Tracy Lawrence " If I Don't Make it Back" RIP Lcpl Riley
the first time I heard this song I was little, and I would always ask my dad to sing it to me.. I new all the words and fell inlove with Craig Morgan... you can't ask for a more heart felt song.. I love it and could listen to it all day long.
speaking from experience of living on the street you dream of being home and not the earthly home if you take this song on a different level he was almost home he would have froze to death and been in his heavenly home
i prayed for that often i was only 15 and knew i couldnt go home i wanted to be dead this song is awesome love craig morgan
My son was named Craig Morgan, my son died July 3rd, 2000, hew was 8 days away from his 15th birthday. He would be 25 now. I was shocked when I heard there was a singer with his same name. His middle name was Allan. I have heard you now and you have an Amazing voice, you have good looks too. :)
WOW this is a great song....brings back so many memories of my childhood. I have truly been blessed most of my life....hard times really bring it full circle. Way to go Craig.
Oh Craig Morgan.. this song live was amazing this summer... p.s you really shouldnt climb up the supports of the stage while singing bonfire.. your security was very scared, it was awesome though!
When I was about ten me and my brother saw a homeless guy laying on the ground with his eyes closed. We stared for a second and when he didn't move my older brother nudged him. He didn't move so my brother told me to go inside the shelter my dad ran and bring him out. It wasn't till two years later that Papa told me that man froze to death the night before. This song is hard to listen to but honestly very touching.
@7xxJohnnyRebelxx7 Love your comment,I think alot of people forget about all the vets out there. That man was a vetaran I bet. Most people don't no just how many of our vet are homeless. But our country will send millon to other country,How sad.
@gin7654 The tempo is the same, but the background music is different. No fillers and strong lead ins to the verses and bridge. I like the orginal too, but this is what you get when you have a live band and get away from the computers and digital sounds.
Love the song...yet have to say this on the 'performance'...leaves me 'wanting'. However, there's another vid well worth watching of this particular song that far exceeds a mere 'performance'. Why settle for a burger when filet mignon is available? This difference between being a 'craftsman' and a true 'artist'. Easy enough to look up the vid: Lt Hurd.
Craig, u served and all the stuff u have done i got great respect! i listined to this wen i was in afgan and iraq. Ima SF marine that went army! thank you!
@ATLWAR I heard that this guy Clint Black heard the song and wanted to record it first, but clint wanted to change some things about the song and Morgan wanted to keep it as it sounds now. Big Music Business People got pissed at Morton for not Letting Clint Black record the song, and that is why is rarely heard on the radio now a days.
@kellythesinger I would say the best COUNTRY song since early early 90's and late 80's. When country was still country music and not rehashed 70 rock music.
Well done Craig .. you're one of the few country artists today who can sing in tune when performing a song live .. unlike many of your counterparts who dont sound so good live onstage.
I have to admit that I am not a country fan. KISS Army since 1975 (Yeah I'm getting old). I never even heard of Craig until seeing him on some Prime Time Hunting videos this year. I checked this out because I was curious. I also have to admit that I am very impressed! Kind of makes me wonder. Is there a bit country fan in this Canadian? Naaaah! BUT, as much as I hate to admit it, I kinda like this.
i do like this song.. but there is a kid on youtube that does a much better job.. James dupre does a great accoustical rendition.. do yourselves a favor and give it a listen
This song tears me up. I can't hear it without bawling my eyes out. I flatlined in 2002 and this reminds me of it in some indefinable way. My home is gone. It burned to the ground and I will never see it again. Lucky I got another one in heaven.
HUGE Craig Morgan fan! By far his best song, although "What I love about Sunday" is right there. He is excellent in concert also if you haven't seen him and get a chance I highly recommend it.
I can identify with all the visual images this song presents. Old dirt roads, fresh mowed hay, cottonwood trees, honey bees, Calico Creek. I close my eyes and I am almost there. Great song Craig Morgan.
HES SO SEXY AND HAS THE GOOD OLE COUNTRY FAMILY VALUES! I DEDICATE THIS TO MY UNCLE JIM GROOMS!!!

It's nitpicky, but if it's "5 below" how can it be "freezing rain (and spitting snow)"?
irishtims 9 months ago
@irishtims
Quite easily. There just needs to be more than one cloud layer, snowing, and precipitating frozen rain.
