Not a fan of Tony style of catch. I'm more on the Frank/Ken Shamrock,Sakuraba shoot style of catch. But this is a great devastating choke. Very close to the scary feel of a wedge choke(Place right hand behind head left hand crab right wrist so your left forearm will be placed on adams apple. Finish choke by pushing down on right hand and pushing up with left forearm in throat)
My business partner and I have a club in LA. We have alot of Bjj guys come out and teach our bouncers moves. One of the trainers Robson Moura(Look this guy up hes a 7x black belt in Bjj) says if you would even do a hold like this in a street fight you should grap the tricep, and grab your forarm not your wrist. When he did this it made the grip so tight I could not move left our right!
@gungfu777 Grabbing the tricep is not the way to go for a choke. For a neck crank it's fine; do a search on our channel for figure four front choke, because I think Tony shows the problems with the hold. Grabbing the tricep leaves you open to sags, fireman carries, peak outs, etc. For bouncers, it's probably good as a come along, because most people don't know how to counter. But a good fighter would. This hold has the added benefit of putting someone to sleep.
@edballzacks hahaa, dude... no. I agree it's fun to do but you should only do in a training setting to improve as a grappler under proper supervision and instruction.
This is more of a street self defense move, although it will certainly work if you can get it while rolling or in MMA. I absolutely love this move. I haven't been in a fight in a long time, but I rough house with friends all the time, and this move gets everyone, and the tap is almost immediate. That's not exactly the highest praise, but I'm telling you, it's s sick move.
Tony Cecchine should team up with Dan Inosanto

exactly the same. cept the guys with shannon (jake) put the left grip on the side of the shoulder rather than the top

They grab the tricep.
Yeah, they're both figure fours.

Grabbing the tricep doesn't work. If I find time I'll post a vid showing why.

thanks for the tip

On the shoulder or tricep makes it a show hold.
